I might be wrong. But I felt that Ishwari panicked on hearing that Dev was kicked out of the house because of the past trauma were the whole family was kicked out with just a torn blanket. She felt that inspite of all her struggles she couldn't prevent Dev from experiencing this again. Her response to the Boses were also along this line.
Indeed, I agree with you that the trauma of their pasts are the factors behind the Dixits' actions and reactions...
Your statement that Ishwari panicked is right.. It was clearly evident when she mentioned that even on their worst days, she was able to provide a roof over their children's heads... Despite all her flaws, her determination to never give up and fight on, is a quality to be much admired on...
But, since you have mentioned it, I feel that Ishwari is still much more affected by her past than Dev... Since, Dev, either because of Sonakshi or with time, has started the natural process of healing.. For him, his past is slowly, but gradually becoming a blurred memory..
His wounds of the past have started to heal...It's only when Ishwari reopens his wounds, he starts to again feel the agony of them...
I feel that Ishwari always knew that neither she nor her son has been able to come out of their past... Her past has become mixed with her present and sometimes, she can no longer differentiate between the two...
But, then, she sees her son moving ahead in life and suddenly, she starts feeling alone since she and her companion are no longer on the same page... That's why, she acts the way, she has because she doesn't want the feeling of loneliness to engulf and consume her... So, she drags her son back, to stop that feeling...
That's why, I feel that with every step, Dev moves forward, she becomes more and more desperate and consequently, her insecurities and her fears taken even firmer root in her mind...
