You are right of course, Sona will face much more trouble with Vicky before she sees any positive results out of her approach. Reminds me of the quote:
"Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience." 😛
As for her approach with Dev, I have to agree with you completely there as well. Like you said, it's not that I am trying to be harsh on Sona, just that at this particular point in the story, I can see her bringing huge troubles to both her and Dev with her behaviour, and I want to save them! 😆
Dev hit the nail on the head when he tried to tell her it wasn't about her. It really wasn't. It was about incidents and experiences that their family had gone through long before Sona arrived on the scene, and long before Dev was the man whom she met and fell in love with. In that way, though Ishwari's actual argument was BS, her discomfort with Sona's involvement was understandable. Sona is naive about the actual motivations behind Ishwari's move, and for a second, allowed Dev to be naive with her, which caused Ishwari to deliver him a sharp reminder .
I think Ishwari's motivations stem from guilt over how much wealthier she became than mamaji, when he was their only refuge during difficult times. It doesn't help that Radharani keeps rubbing her supposed "poverty" in Ishwari's face. The problem is, Mamaji won't allow Ishwari to finance them entirely and wouldn't even come to live with them until his house burned down, so Ishwari tries to get around this by giving them expensive gifts and insisting as much as she can that they come and live at their house, and enjoy the luxuries. But she's aware that all of this is temporary and that her brother would prefer to return to his own house ASAP. In giving Vicky an important post at Dev's company, she is able to ensure that her brother becomes equal to her and wants for nothing, while also keeping his pride intact.
The actual execution of this "perfect" plan, given Vicky's disposition, is where it all falls totally, totally flat. But this is where Ishwari expected Dev to take over: forget how Vicky actually does the job, and use him as a pawn to tacitly give mamaji economic parity. This is why there was different treatment for Rhea and Vicky... because for Vicky, it was never about him or his work at all. For a second, with Sona, Dev let himself believe that he was a normal CEO, and all that mattered was what was right for his company. In her stern march down memory lane, Ishwari reminded Dev of all these "under the table" responsibilities that came from the favours they took in dire straits. Dev making Vicky a trainee/"chapraasi" highlighted the discrepancy in status instead of erasing it, as Ishwari intended which is why she got so angry and disappointed.
I'm not saying Ishwari's right -- she's really, really not -- but there is so, so, so much more going on than Sona understands. Ishwari's discomfort with her is merely the symptom of much bigger concerns. That, I think, is what Dev was trying to tell her when he said, "it's not about you."
Well, that went into a full-blown rant! 😛
