I am not going post by post. But I have noticed to push the gender equality, reverse scenario always works. So here's food for thought. Let's reverse the situation where Sona dumped Dev for her say, dad.

Dev decides to move on. But Sona keeps interfering in his life. She stalks him and makes the other girl's life so difficult that he challenges her and gets engaged to the other girl.

In the meanwhile Sona keeps enforcing her rights on him while not giving a single rights on her without Daddy's nod of approval. He repeatedly asks her to stay away but she doesn't.

She ruins his date and practically makes a nuisance of herself.

Dev and his fiance try another time to make Sona take a decision not because of her dad, but in spite of her dad. But no dice. Her Dad matters, Dev does not.

Dev finally manages to make Sona to agree to stay away.

Sona convinces him that she will move on if only she can see him with someone else. He keeps his word and invites her.

Big mistake. Because now Sona gets drunk and falls down where he runs to her and takes her home leaving his fiance, her family and his family to face the humiliation and insult.

When he goes back he sees his family humiliated, insulted and angry at him for putting them in that situation. He also realises that a. he should not have got engaged but also b. he should not have trusted Sona because she never keeps her promises to him.

Next day Sona drops in with a bouquet of flower and without asking how the broken engagement had impacted him and his family, she says, Daddy said yes. Let's get married.

He had to face his family upset, in tears because of Sona's behaviour and this girl only cares about her and her father's happiness? Yes, his mistake was to trust her and send the invitation. But had he a single idea that as a result of his one decision, his entire family will be humiliated and insulted, he'd have never sent that invitation.

Now my question. Should Dev jump in joy that her father actually allowed him into his precious family or respond like Sona did and say, "Get out"...

Would you say that a woman who never cares about the feelings of the man she claims to love and his family's honour except whether her father nods his head in approval or not would make an excellent life partner.

I mean Dev can forever dance to the whim of Sona's father because after all he is God. And yes, he also has to leave with her dad leaving his family behind and live like a second class citizen under her dad's thumb knowing that she can kick him out the moment daddy dearest does not like him. Great foundation for marriage, isn't it?

That does sound like every family's nightmare isn't it? Well, equality means that if it's unacceptable when the gender is reversed, it's unacceptable, period.

On a lighter note, tomorrow I won't be in the forum. Getting my Lasik done to go back to 20/20 vision. Ergo, won't have any vision for a day. My husband promised to play the show in audio and give me play by play scenes. But even though he took the day off to take care of me, he won't write my posts. If I have an opinion, I will may be write something on Monday.
Hopefully by the time I have my vision back, Dev will start his redemption track by heartily apologizing to Sona's family for all the grief his family and him caused them. He has to win them and Sona back and show with his action that he will never ever disrespect Sona. That would be the true redemption track.

Have a good weekend.

so that is my point too, she came back at Dev only when he came all sorted and happy, earlier she was running behind him, thus i didnt find her speech today as self respecting, instead it was hollow for me.

As @rogerrocks said, its sloppy writing, just to increase the drama quotient they created a mess of everything, and now this final scene before they shove marriage down Dev and Sona so nobody can blame them for not showing feminism.

But as i said, lets agree to disagree 😊

I will put my two cents here. When you love someone and he is badly hurting be it physical or emotional trauma, you would help him. Also one would never lash out at that time or count their sins at that time simply because they would not be in a position to take it and also lashing out in such a state might make them harm themselves.

It has nothing to do with self respect only love and consideration. After all howsoever disgusted you might be at such a person you still love them and care for them

Else Sona lashed out at Dev very well in his office when she challenged him and also yesterday. During the date Ritwik asked her to let him handle Dev. She stayed quiet out of respect for Ritwik and not due to any consideration towards Dev. 😊

Till the above part it was more than enough to call Sona a witch or a vamp 😛 Explains what you tried to say oh-so-perfectly 😆

On topic - Couldn't have said it better 👏 This 'Me' Dixit world is so spiteful that I have no words 😡 Sona's each question echoed everyone's heart 👏 Had Ishwari been changed a bit, she would have realized that the true step is to retreat herself from deciding on her children's lives, not to continue making any 'good' or 'bad' decisions for them But how can she let go of her control from their lives ? Never, indeed she would require another chulaah then 😡

Reverse is just not possible. What you have said, on lighter note can be considered but it doesn't match the psychology which is totally different in male and female. If a female stalks a male - its funtastic - most of the guys would like it even if he has a GF or Wife.

I know we live in a patriarchal and misogynistic society where the women have to live her family and go live with her husband's home with his family whether they treat her well or not, whether they respect her or not.

But the reason I look at reverse situation that we are so used to make excuses for men and blame women that sometimes misogynistic behaviour is hard to identify due to the expectations and upbringing we get.

That's why we have to see will a situation and behaviour be acceptable when it's done by women to a man and if it isn't what makes us think that it's acceptable when the same behaviour is done to women by men just because they are men?

Sorry for the late response, i had missed this.

So Sona is going to be considerate and respectful towards Dev and his hurt feelings until he is limping drunkard and the moment he will be in his senses she will backlash at him and now again if Dev comes after drinking so Sona will take him in her arms? I dont agree to this.

Being considerate while your loved one is struggling is perfectly fine, but consideration doesnt mean you say i will come back if you agree, being considerate doesnt mean you run away from your engagement leaving you parents and a perfectly good person humiliated. What about Sona's consideration towards her family and Ritik?

Its just sloppy writing which is making every character look flabgaasstered, they are just covering every point, so that they can hide behind the tag of a "mature" love story.

The crux of the matter is, Dev does not and did not include Sona and her family into his inner circle of people he affords respect.
He thinks the world of his mother and believes everyone else should too. He is being very simplistic in thinking that marriage is just sticking a woman you fancy into your house and proceed as usual.

then he fell in love with the wrong woman. Sonakshi wants an equal partner , someone to walk with her, not to add to the burden of a husband. She is not going to quit her job and stay home if Dev says so. (not that I think Dev would)

He needs to learn this about her. She fell in love and learnt everything about him, she knows him well. But he doesn't know much apart from roses, hazelnut coffee and coconut cookies.

it's okay he needs to learn these things slowly. He's a busy man we must give him some time. But to rush to her with a sheepish grin saying they can now get married ... *facepalm*

epic fail.

Good luck for your Surgery tomorrow Tia. Hope it goes well and you recover soon!
