I read some posts where people are claiming a. Sonakshi never loved Dev because she agreed to marry someone else. b. Sonakshi should be lonely after being dumped because what else a woman should do?
Sonakshi loved Dev enough to constantly tolerate insults, mood swings, arrogance of Dev's family. She didn't leave Dev, he dumped her after convincing her that he loves her and will never leave her. Why? Because mummy dearest doesn't like Sona because she didn't choose her.
Did he took even a second to ask his mother, "What is your problem with Sona? What did she do to make you hate her when you were singing her praises for convincing your daughter to not insult her husband's family in her wedding day by wearing her brother's expensive lehenga?"
No. He decided a life partner is dispensable and can be chucked out at family's whim.
Okay. Fair enough.
Sona's family were planning her marriage for way longer than Dev's so called love. They let her choose her life partner. But when that said partner turned out to be unreliable, they could not see their daughter in pain so they arranged a marriage for her hoping to help her move on. Dev pleased his mummy, why should not Sona please her family?
Why it's okay for a man to dump his girlfriend to please his mummy's whim, but it's not okay for a woman to marry to please hers?
If she hides her past from her prospective groom, that's being unfair. But if she is honest with him about her past and knowing everything he is willing to marry her, then why should not she marry him? Why would she waste her life and time pining away for someone who dumped her like yesterday's garbage?
A lot of relationship starts with mutual understanding, trust, honesty, loyalty and respect and grows into friendship and love. It's quite obvious, Dev does not respect Sona nor understands her nor has any loyalty to her. All of his respect, understanding and loyalty is to his mother.
If Sona had dumped Dev because of her family and Ishwari had asked Dev to marry, do you think Dev will still ignore his mom's wish and pine for Sona? I can bet you he won't.
If a woman is asked to choose between her husband and family and she chooses her family, she is a bad wife. But if a man is asked to choose between his wife and family and he chooses his family, he is a good son. Double standard much?
What Dev and Ishwari have gone through, Neha and Ishwari also have gone through. Yet Ishwari wants Dev to not interfere in Neha's married life but she wants to interfere in Dev's. We all know that is double standards, then why apply it to Sonakshi?
If a woman wants to move on with her life, she never loved before. But if a man moves on, then he was heartbroken and it's the woman's fault.
Stop blaming women for their choices. A woman doesn't have to prove to anyone how much she loves if she loves nor she needs to give justification for her decision to move on or stay single. This is 21st century and about time a women gets their right to choose their own life's decision of which one of major ones Dev took alone without asking Sona what she wants.
