The Kiss

Dev looked up as he heard the door click open and felt his heart stopped.

Sonakshi

Dev felt like he had forgotten in these two days how beautiful she really was. He watched her as she took small, hesitant steps towards him, keeping her eyes to the floor, her hands fiddling with her Dupatta. Dev was glad, really glad she was walking so slow, coz that gave him ample time to take in the ethereal site in front of him. She wore a yellow colored Salwar Kamiz today; a color he loved to see on her. The sunlight coming through the windows bounced off her beautiful face and made it glow even more, if possible.

Possibly it was the result of seeing her after two days, but she never looked more beautiful.

Dev never knew his heartbeats could be racing like that just by a mere appearance of someone. He kept his face emotionless throughout but only he knew, what havoc was going on in his inner world.

Another First.

And then finally summoning all her courage, she looked up to meet his gaze.

As she walked hesitantly towards Dev's office, Sonakshi felt her legs shaking. Was he still that angry?

Go inside you dumb head! He's your boyfriend. He's not going to kill you!' Her mind shouted.

She turned the knob and walked in.

If only she could tell someone, anyone that his gaze was scorching her being since the moment she set foot in his cabin. She did not dare look at him, but she could tell, and bet her life on it that he was looking at her. No, not looking. He never only looked at her. He read her eyes, he read her face. And whenever he looked at her that way, all Sonakshi could think was how on earth could she be so lucky!

But today she was nervous, scared and what not. She had never seen Dev so mad. It was different earlier but this time, his words hurt really bad. She left that moment, but regretted every second after that. Dev was right. He wasn't that careless and she knew that. She had made-up her mind to say sorry this morning but he already left. Unable to bear the growing hollowness in her heart, she decided to visit him in the office. Hoping she wouldn't disturb anything important.

She finally found the courage to look into his eyes and found him staring at her, his face expressionless. Again that intense gaze turned her legs into jelly. This is what Dev Dixit could do to her.

The silence in the room was growing uncomfortable and she decided it was time she speaks.

"De...I mean...Mr. Dixit. I..."

"Have a seat, Sonakshi."

Sonakshi nodded and sat down in front of him. He sounded so calm and composed and there she was, a mess inside. Dev did not speak a word more. Finally she spoke again.

"You...you're skipping your breakfast." She said.

"And you're here to tell me that?"

"No I...Dev...I mean Mr. Dixit, I wanted to..." She sighed. "I wanted to apologize for that day. I should have understood."

She looked at him again, hoping he would say something. But when he didn't, she continued.

"Last two days...they were..." She felt her eyes welling up..."...Really hard for me. We didn't talk and...you were so angry...you didn't even msg...It was so..."

She was really controlling her tears now. She did not want to cry. But only she knew how every moment seemed like a million years knowing that Dev was upset with her. They did not talk for more than a day and two nights in a row. And when she got to know he was skipping meals, she knew she had to talk.

"I'm really sorry Dev. You don't have to forgive me or anything. We can talk later. I only came here to give you this."

She said and pulled out Tiffin from her sling bag.

"I made you lunch. Just have it. Good day Mr. Dixit." She said and hurriedly stood up to leave. As soon as she reached the door, she heard an electronic beep and found the door was locked.

"I don't remember I allowed you to leave."

She turned around and saw Dev placing a remote control back in his drawer. He walked towards her and came closer. Sonakshi looked down again.

God Sona what's wrong with you. Look at him, will you please?

Lost in her thoughts, she did not even realize that Dev had her trapped between himself and the door. Both his hands rested on the door, leaving no room for her to escape.

Sonakshi looked up, and found his gorgeous face so close to hers. His intimidating dark brown eyes were fixed on her and his lips were curved into the slightest smile possible.

She was speechless; yes, Dev affected her that much!

Dev looked at the shy girl he had so close to himself. Dev knew she was intimidated by him, he had seen her gulping and fluttering her eyes whenever he came too close. But he loved it when despite being so shy, she would look back into his eyes. Her cheeks would redden and she couldn't stop smiling.

His shy bunny was the cutest thing in the whole wide world.

But today, she wasn't looking at him and Dev badly wanted her to do that. He wanted her to know that it meant so much that she came to his office and put his restless soul to peace. He wanted to know her that he didn't need to forgive her, he wanted her to know that he wasn't angry with her. Not even a bit. How could he be? When she was all he had.

"I love you, Sonakshi." He wanted to say that out loud but it came as a whisper. That did the trick. She finally looked into his eyes.

"You're...you're not angry?" She asked innocently.

"I am, very much!" Dev said and watched her eyes widened. She was going to say something but as Dev leaned in a bit, she went quiet again.

Dev looked at her beautiful face and all he wanted to do was engulf her in a bone crashing hug. This was the first time they were somewhere else other than his place and Dev always kept his emotions in check. There was always a fear that someone would catch them but this was Dev's office. And he had Sonakshi all for himself. His gaze fell on her soft, plump lips and for the first time, he felt his heart skipping a beat on the thoughts of kissing them.

Dev felt his smile vanishing. He did not know what words to say. He was too bad at it. He couldn't tell Sonakshi that these two days were hardest for him too. If there was any way he could let her know how much she means to him...

"Can I kiss you, Sonakshi?..." Dev blurted out and saw Sonakshi looked at him in a shock in her eyes which was soon replaced with something inexpressible.

Deciding for it the last moment, dev leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.

His heart was pounding and all the blood was rushing to his ears. He did not know how she would react but when he felt her hands wrapping around his neck, he knew she had allowed him to kiss her to his heart's consent.

Dev wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled her closer. The fact he was kissing someone whom he could call his own, made his heart soar.

Tilting her face to a side, He deepened the kiss, and felt her melting in his arms. One hand clutching her waist tightly and other lost in her gorgeous hair, Dev never felt happier in this office, and he had won some pretty amazing deals here.

She was not thinking, she was not breathing.

Sonakshi knew that her mind was already gone for good and all she could feel was his warm mouth coaxing over hers. She had imagined this moment quiet often, how it would feel to have him that close, or how it would feel to kiss him but the jitters she felt now, surpassed her every imagination.

She could feel her toes curling involuntarily as his tongue swept past her lips and the tender kiss got fierce. She was now hanging on to him for dear life and the world would definitely stop if he stopped kissing her now.

She was already breathless and trembling, and how Dev seemed so relaxed would always be a mystery to her. Her face was growing warm every second and she did not know how much of all she could take.

Finally what seemed like eternity, Dev softly tore away his lips from her and pressed them against her forehead.

Dev looked at her with a glint in his eyes. The fact that she trusted him so much, made him feel so happy he thought his heart would burst.

She still had her eyes closed, her face flushed red and her breaths were coming out slowly.

"You're so beautiful..." He whispered.

A smile broke on her beautiful lips as she turned away and walked towards his desk. Dev stood there only, smiling idiotically. It sank in now. Did they just kiss?

He looked at Sonakshi whose face was reddest shade he has ever seen. He could see her smiling and felt glad it was as important for her as it was for him. He went there and sat next to her. They finished their lunch in silence.

"Dr. Bose..." He called out to her and saw her flinch slightly.

"Yes." She said.

"Are you always going to go on a silent mode everytime we kiss?" Dev smiled cunningly at her.

Her eyes widened at his open flirting. He was smiling and it made her smile too.

"Who said there's going to be a next time?" She smiled.

"What...You mean...why? Really?" Dev raised his brows.

"Of course. There's going to be no next time." She suppressed her smile.

Before Dev could speak, his phone buzzed. It was Tina who reminded him he had an important meeting starting in five minutes. Half heartedly, Dev got up and collected his papers.

"Come, I'll see you off to the lift." Dev said as he walked past her.

"Dev"

"Yes..."

Sonakshi walked up to him and stood on her toes. She pecked his lips and then said, "All the best for your meeting, and next time, you don't have to ask."

She said and got out of his office before her face started resembling a tomato, leaving a pleasantly shocked dev behind.

So it's done!

Amazing story .I am impresed with your writing ...it was perfect .I always wanted a intense devakshi scene and this is the best one i have read so far ...i feel you should mail this script to CVs ...let them show something like this in the show minus kiss is ok with me .
