Hi guys, Im back with part 4. I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who's reading,commenting and liking this story. Thank you so much. Im sorry i am unable to reply individually because of post restrictions for newbies. Anyway, moving on with the story.. Lets see some romance between our favourite couple, shall we?

*Present Day*

"Sonakshi?" gasped Dev.

There stood his beautiful wife, smiling her radiant smile at him. "Hello Mr Dixit, Aapka lunch hazir hai. I thought lets have have lunch together today. You passed by the park this morning so.." the rest of her sentence was left incomplete as Dev enveloped her in a bone crushing hug. She smiled into the hug and ran her fingers along his hair, effectively calming him down.

" I almost lost you" Dev murmured softly. "Shhh.. Its okay. Im here now" sonakshi assured him. She knew Dev would always get rattled whenever he thought about the past. They were finally together, but their journey was not an easy one. They faced a lot of ups and downs before they could be together for good. Whenever Dev thought about the past he realised that he could've lost her forever. Sonakshi was one of the most important people in his life. Equal only to his mother. He couldn't bear to think what would've happened had he not realised he loved her, or if sonakshi had chosen Dr Mukherjee over him. Sonakshi tried convincing him that no matter what happened, they would've found their way back to one another, and most of the time she succeeded. But sometimes, due to some triggers, like the park for eg, Dev would again get pulled into the dark abyss. But he always had sona to bring him back. To remind him that what they had was too special to be affected by any calamity.

Sonakshi slowly untangled herself from his arms, and looked at him. She thought better than to raise the topic of the park. Instead, she tried to distract him.

S: Mein tumse naraz hun Dev.

Dev looked at her puzzled.

D: Arey, maine kya kiya?

S: Why didn't you wake me up before leaving?? Maa told me you didn't have breakfast also. You know breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Before she started a new lecture about the ill effects of skipping breakfast, Dev quickly sealed her lips with his."Mmm, that's not done." She said between the kisses. "You don't play fair Mr Dixit.""I never promised I would, Mrs Dixit." Dev winked "Its Dr Dixit for you" joked sona.

They both laughed. They sat down for lunch where Dev behaved like a 2 year old baby and made sona feed him. She faked anger but fed him anyway. Dev treasured such moments spent with sona. He could be childish and immature with her. She never stopped him. As a kid, the privilege of being childish and throwing tantrums had been snatched away from him. He had to grow up too quickly, never having experienced the true joys of childhood. So sona tried to give him a little bit of his childhood back, whenever and however she could. After lunch, they shifted to the sofa where Dev laid his head on sona's lap and sona stroked his hair lovingly.

D: Sona, why don't you accept my offer of becoming a nutritionist of Ishwari Enterprises? Are you not worried about the health of our employees? After all, this is your office also now.

S: Agar meine tumhare office me kaam karna shuru kar diya toh aap pura din romance karne me hi nikal denge Mr Dixit. Fir kaam kaun karega? she said, pulling his cheeks. We've had this discussion hundreds of times but you just never give up, do you?

Dev pouted a little.

D: But I miss you na

Sonakshi laughed and gave him a peck on the cheek.

S: Tumi impossible.

Dev rolled his eyes. Her tumi tumi has started again. Sonakshi noticed this and smirked.

S: When will you learn Bengali? You should learn it so that you are not so clueless when I start ranting in Bangla.

D: I kindof like it. You look so cute when you start ranting in Bengali, especially when one of your patients is annoying you and you come home and start your non stop rant. I don't understand one word of it, but its adorable to watch.

S: Hmmm, I remember ranting about a super annoying son of an ex-patient, she said with a wink.

"Achaa, annoying haan" said Dev and started tickling her. He knew her weakest spots where she was the most ticklish, near her waist. She started squirming and laughing uncontrollably. " Arghhh, stop it, stop it na Dev.. acha baba sorry sorry" Dev stopped and looked at her, laughing.

S : Always keep smiling like this, Dev. Dont get sad thinking about the past.

As she said it, a shadow crossed Dev's face, and he turned solemn again. "I know. I try to not think about it, but you know I have a hard time letting go of the past." She nodded. Dev had always had trouble coming to terms with whatever happened. He had a tough childhood and it was the memories of the sacrifices his mother and sisters had to make that made him work so hard. He would replay the tough moments in his minds, in order to motivate himself to keep working hard. It was because of this habit of constantly replaying the past that caused him to think about his and sonakshi's past as well. It stopped him from completely enjoying the present moment, as he always had that guilt and fear of having almost lost the love of his life. With sonakshi's support and help, he could get a grip on this habit but that park still remained a sore spot for him. Sonakshi decided she had to do something about this situation. She couldn't let Dev become sad over something which honestly didn't matter at this point. They were happily married and had a wonderful future before them. She would not let Dev be scared of that park just because it had some bad memories attached to it. She had to change his perception about the park by giving him a good memory that would overshadow all the bad ones. And she had the perfect opportunity to do so. She smiled to herself as she came up with a plan.

D: Kya hua? Why are you smiling so much?

S: I just remembered your face when you saw Anu for the first time.

Dev frowned.

D: Not funny haan sona, jaan nikal gayi thi meri uss din...

*Flashback*

Dev stood there motionless. Who was this Anurag character that was so close to sonakshi that she could run into his arms like that. She said he was her best friend. But I thought I am her best friend. He felt a sudden pang of jealousy. " Mr Dixit, aap thik toh hai?" sonakshi asked, concerned. He looked like he had seen a ghost. Sonakshi's voice brought Dev back to reality. He looked at Dr Mukherjee's outstretched hand and shook his hand reluctantly, without offering him a smile.

A: Meine aap k bare me kafi kuch suna hai Mr Dixit.

D: Oh really? Par meine toh aapke bare me kabhi kuch nai suna.

A: Woh shayad isliye kyuki sonakshi apni dil ki baatein sab ko nai sunati.

Deb felt like punching the guy. Who was he to tell him what sonakshi does and doesn't do. Sonakshi felt the tension between the two men and tried to diffuse the situation.

S: Woh Mr Dixit, Anurag is my childhood friend. We grew up together, then he went for further studies abroad. Currently he is working as a cardio attending at John Hopkins hospital in the United States.

A: Not an attending anymore shona, I am now the chief of cardio at John Hopkins.

S: OMG really?!! Wow Anu, Im so so proud of you.

Dev felt another pang of jealousy. She is proud of him also, wow. Mujhe toh kabhi nai bola I am proud of you, Dev thought feeling somewhat hurt.

S: Maa Baba must be over the moon with your success. Please tell them congratulations on my behalf.

A: You tell them yourself. They have come to India along with me. Infact, they are at your house only right now. Dada sent me here to get you and also give you the best surprise of your life, ME!

S: Oh my, Shotti? Maa Baba are here?? I haven't seen them in ages.

They both continued their conversation leaving Dev fuming at the side. He turned to go back home when he heard sonakshi's voice call him.

S: Mr Dixit, so sorry mein toh aapko puchna hi bhul gayi, aap yahan kaise? Kuch kaam tha?

D: Jee nahi, woh I was just passing by so thought I would take a walk in the park.

S: But you usually take the other route home, and only come to the park with me, when we take our walks here.

D: haan toh mein aise hi akela nai aa sakta kya? Koi rule hai that I have to come only with you?

S: Aap gussa kyu ho rahe hai? I was just asking

Dev calmed down a little.

D: Im sorry Ms Bose, Im just tired. Had a long day today. I should leave.

S: Are you sure? Did you wanna talk about something?

D: No no, its nothing.

S: Ok, if you say so. But if you need to talk, you can call me anytime, you know that right?

Dev smiled. She seemed like his sona again.

D: Yes Ms Bose. Good night.

S: Good night Mr Dixit.

"Good night, Mr Dixit" Anurag said, in a high pitched voice, with a hint of sarcasm. Dev just nodded at him and left.

As soon as he left, Anurag started chuckling loudly. Sonakshi smacked him on the chest.

A: Oww, yeh kis liye tha

S: Cant you behave yourself in front of him. Boss hai woh mere.

A: Kitne khadus hai tere yeh boss. Waise sirf boss hai ya...

S: Shut up. Sirf boss hi hai.

A: Kitna jhoot bolegi sona, teri shakal pe likha hai how much you love him.

Sona looked at him, astonished. She had called him after her heartbreak. She needed a friend. Elena was there, but she always kept telling her to confess her feelings to Dev. And look where confessing got me, thought sona. So she called up her best friend who she had grown up with. They understood each other even without saying anything. When he moved to US she was very upset, but they kept in touch through skype and phone calls. With time however, the calls and emails decreased as both of them got busy with their careers. But they knew, if either of them needed the other, they would drop everything to be there for their friend. When she had called him, she mentioned she was feeling lonely, but Anurag sensed she was hiding something. Sonakshi was a strong girl, she wouldn't usually call for help or admit she was lonely unless there was something major happening in her life. So he flew down to India to be there for her, and maybe to take her back with him, he thought to himself. It was no secret that he loved her. He always had. Ever since they were kids. His mom & dad also loved her as their own child, Infact, she called them Maa Baba as well. Both the Bose and Mukherjee families would be very happy with their union. But neither of the set of parents wanted to force their children into marriage. So they didn't insist on anything. Anurag also never pursued sonakshi to be with him. He loved her, but he was not gonna force her to love him. If she needed him as a friend, that is exactly what he would be, he decided.

S: How did you know Anu?

A: Pls sona, I've known you since we were kids, itna toh jaanta hun mein tujhe my puchki

Sona gave him a sad smile.

A: Tune bataya unhe?

S: Haan bataya, but he is getting married to someone else. She is perfect for him.

D: Does he love her?

S: I don't know, but why wouldn't he? She's perfect. She likes the same things he does, is similar to his status, she is practically another version of him.

A: Arre idiot, pyaar likes same hone se nai hota. Aisa hota toh tujhe mujhse kab ka pyaar ho jana chaiye tha.

Sonakshi looked at him. She knew Anurag loved her, she loved him too. But as a friend, the kind of love she had spent the morning convincing Mr Dixit she had for him. But she knew she was lying. She had lied when she said she mistook concern for love. She knew what friendly love was, she had that for Anurag. What she felt about Dev, she couldn't even put into words. She was hopelessly in love with him. She loved Anurag, but she was IN love with Dev.

A: Pyaar dimag se nai hota shona, you cant convince your heart to want someone. The heart wants what it wants. Trust me, Im a heart surgeon. I know what I'm talking about.

Sonakshi gave him a gentle shove.

S: Shut up, tum sirf heart diseases cure karte ho. You are a heart surgeon, not a love doctor.

Anurag laughed.

A: But seriously shona, you have to find out whether Mr Dixit loves this other girl or no.

S: It doesn't matter Anu. He is marrying her anyways. Now I don't want to talk about this topic anymore, Im trying to move on.

A: Acha thik hai chal, lets go home. I wanna have yummy roshogollas.

They went hand in hand towards bose house, chattering away happily. Sonakshi felt better than she had in a long time ever since her untimely confession to Dev.

Dev on the other hand, was miserable. He went home and sat on his bed, lost in sonakshi's thoughts. He thought how her face lit up when she turned towards him, he had honestly thought that he was the reason for the smile on her face. His heart broke when he saw it wasn't him she was so excited to see. He couldn't believe this was happening to him. When he finally realised that he loved sonakshi, fate was again planning on snatching her away from him. He is just her friend dev, shaadi thodi na kar rahi hai usse, an inner voice told him. But he wasn't sure. Somehow, she seemed more comfortable with that Dr Mukherjee than she usually was with him. His mind and heart were engaged in a battle. Should I tell her how I feel? But what if she doesn't feel the same? Hell, she even told you she doesn't. She loves you like a friend, she said so herself. His newfound confidence about telling her his feelings that he had found in the evening while leaving for the park, had slowly withered away, giving rise to a lot of self doubt and worry. Dev had no idea what the future held, but he was dreading it. After tossing and turning well into the night, he fell into an uneasy slumber.
