Hi guys, Im back with yet another part. I feel like I'm updating too soon. Lol. What to do, I just have so many plans for this story! I want to thank you all for your continued love and appreciation. Without further ado, lets start. Enjoy!

*Present Day*

Dev was lost in the past. He tried to stop thinking about it, but he knew it was of no use. Once it had started, it played out like a film sequence before his eyes. His thoughts were interrupted by tina's buzzer on the intercom, "Sir, Mrs Dixit called. She wanted to know if you will have lunch at home or whether she should send it at the office?" "Please tell my wife I will have lunch at the office itself" said Dev. "Ok sir. I will inform her." After disconnecting the call, Dev was again immersed in his thoughts.

*Flashback*

After that day, Dev grew more and more restless. He wanted to talk to sonakshi, and she was avoiding him like the plague. The more she avoided him, the more he wanted to talk to her. He couldn't think of anything or anybody except her. He thought he was going mad. Yaar Dev yeh tujhe kya ho gaya hai, whats wrong with you? You have become obsessed with sonakshi, he thought to himself. One day, he was on his way to office and was running late. He was practically sprinting towards the door when someone bumped into him. Immediately his hands reached out to steady the person that was about to fall.

Sonakshi had been successful in avoiding dev for almost a week. She would come after he left for office, and made sure she left before he got back home. He would call her countless time but each time she would pretend she was busy or kept her phone switched off. She was finally gaining her footing again. That day, she thought Dev had already left when she entered the Dixit mansion, but as soon as she entered she bumped into him and was about to fall. But she felt two strong arms hold her. She looked up and saw Dev's beautiful honey gold eyes. As she stared into his molten brown eyes, she felt her resolve slipping away. All those days where she thought she was doing a good job moving on, were gonna go futile, she thought. How can someone resist such beautiful eyes, she wondered.

On the other hand, Dev stood mesmerised by her. How had he not noticed how beautiful she was before? In that moment, he knew he could spend the rest of his life just gazing into her eyes. "Mmmhmmm" said a voice, and they both were jostled from their intense eyelock. Nikki was standing there with a smirk on her face. " Sona Di, aap thik hai na? Acha hua bhai ne aapko sahi waqt pe pakad liya. Warna, aap to haath se nikal jati ;) " said nikki, in a mischievous voice. Both Dev and sona were embarrassed. " Kuch bhi bolti hai nikki, jaa padhai kar" scolded Dev and sent Nikki to her room. Sona tried to take advantage of the distraction to slip quietly to the kitchen without Dev noticing, but he was too quick for her. He held her firmly by the elbow.

D: Not so soon Ms Bose.

S: Yes Mr dixit, Kuch kaam tha aapko?

D: I know aap mujhe avoid kar rahi hai. But I have to talk to u. You cant just say such a big thing and then start avoiding me.

S: I wasn't avoiding you Mr Dixit, I've just been very busy.

D: Oh really? Look sonakshi..

S: Dev please, can I just say something honestly?

D: Yes, go ahead

S: I know I said I love you, and I do. But as a friend, aur kuch nai. You took such good care of me during and after my accident, that i misplaced my feelings of gratitude and friendship, thinking that it was love. It was just an attraction or maybe attachment. I was so desperate for my fairytale love stroy, ki thode se concern ko I started treating as love. I care about you Dev, a lot. We have become such good friends over the past few months, and I don't want to lose that. I still want to be the person with whom you can share your deepest secrets, if you still let me. Friends?

She stretched out her hand in a friendly gesture. Dev didn't know why, but something inside of him felt hurt, angry even, that sonakshi said she loved him just as a friend. It pinched. But he had no option. This is what he wanted right? He wanted the deal to go through and he also didn't want to lose sonakshi. This way, he could have both. Success for his mom, and also manage to not lose sonakshi from his life, she would still be in his life, albeit as a friend. He should be happy. But he didn't know why, a part of him, and he didn't know how big that part was, that was unhappy calling sonakshi just a friend. He wanted to be so much more than that.

S: Dev, mera haath dukh raha hai ab.

She gestured to her outstretched hand. Reluctantly, he shook her hand and gave her a half-smile. He had an important meeting with the Gujrals, so he left after the conversation that made him feel so uneasy about his feelings.

As soon as he left, sona ran to the washroom and closed the door hurriedly. As soon as she closed the door, the dam of tears broke. Get it together sona, get it together, she told herself. But she couldn't stop crying. She had decided to move on but she could not bear to disappear completely from Dev's life and the only way to do both was to remain friends with him. But damn, it was hard. She took deep breaths, Its okay sona, one step at a time. Kabhi kabhi ro leneka. Its okay. Just be strong in front of him. You can do this. Baby steps. Ami eta karate parabo( I can do this, in Bengali). She composed herself.

At the office, Dev couldn't stop thinking about sonakshi. Does she really like me only as a friend? Kya uske dil me aur kuch nai hai? But that day in the park, she looked so hurt and shattered. Like someone had snatched the ground under her feet. God sonakshi, Why are you so damn confusing!! muttered Dev, angrily. "Kispe itna gussa kar rahe ho Dev?" He looked up to see Natasha standing in front of him. Ab yeh kahan se aa gayi, thought Dev.

D: Hi Natasha, come in, Oh sorry, you have toh already come in. Please sit.

N: Aap mujhe taunt maar rahe hai? Sorry meine knock nai kiya. Ab hamari shaadi hone wali hai toh meine socha knock karne ki zaroorat nai.

D: Nai nai, I didn't mean to sound rude. Please sit, kya lengi aap? Black coffee?

N: No thanks, but I do want something else from you.

D: And what's that?

N: The truth.

D: Excuse me?

N: Yes dev, the truth. About your feelings.

D: My feelings? I told you Natasha, I need some time.

N: No Dev, you don't. You have already made up your mind. You just need to admit it to yourself.

D: Admit what? That I love you?

N: No, that you love sonakshi.

Dev looked at her, shocked.

N: I see the way you look at her dev, I tried ignoring it, but its obvious. You are head over heels in love with that girl. Use ek cheenk(sneeze) bhi aati hai toh tumhari shakal aisi ho jati hai jaise use heart attack aaya ho. You care about her, you get annoyed when she doesn't listen to you, get possessive over little things about her, fight with her and then end up doing what she wants anyway. Its her. Its always been her. Hasn't it?

Dev didn't know what to say. Natasha was right. He couldn't marry her. He was in love with Dr Bose. Dr sonakshi bose, that spitfire of a girl, who was so stubborn, clumsy, headstrong, so beautiful that it hurt. She was the girl who had managed to do the impossible. She made Dev Dixit fall in love.

D: Natasha, I.. I don't know what to say.

N: You dont need to say anything to me dev. but you have to tell her how you feel.

D: But the deal..

N: Dont worry about the deal, its gonna happen whether we both marry each other or not.

D: Natasha, Im so sorry. Although unintentionally, I have really hurt your feelings. Please forgive me.

N: Its ok Dev. If we got married, neither of us would've been happy. You could never give me the love I want, and honestly, I deserve better. I also deserve someone who loves me and only me.

D: You are right. I hope you find your Mr Right soon.

Dev felt a lot lighter. Like a weight had been shifted off his shoulder. Aakhir ho hi gaya, Mr Obodhro ko pyaar ho gaya, he smiled. He decided he had to talk to her. But what would he say? Today morning, she told him she only liked him as a friend, but her face in the park told a different story. Why are girls so confusing, he thought to himself. He called tina to his office.

D: Tina, ek baat batao, tum sab ladkiyan itni confusing kyu hoti ho?

Tina looked at him like he had lost it.

T: Sir, aap kya bol rahe hai? Kaun aapko confuse kar raha hai?

D: Yeh miss bose, bolti kuch hai aur karti kuch aur hai. Mujhe samajh nai aata mei uska kya karu

T: shaadi kar lijeye sir( tina said softly)

D: kya?

T: Kuch nai sir, I think you should talk to her and sort out your differences.

D: Hmm.. thanks tina, you can go now.

In the evening, he went to sonakshi's house. He had to see her. He decided he would tell her how he felt, rest she could decide for herself. He couldn't keep it in any longer. Her brother informed him she had gone to the park for a walk. All the important moments of my life are destined to take place in that park, thought dev.

He reached the park. After searching for a while, he saw sonakshi standing near the fountain. God, she looked so beautiful. Her hair was flowing softly with the wind, her finger was twirling one of her curls, she had a faint smile on her face. He stood there, awestruck. Dev had never seen a more gorgeous sight. Suddenly, as if sensing his presence she turned towards him. She looked straight and the biggest smile lit up her face. On seeing her smile, Dev also started smiling. She started running in his direction. Dev thought the love of his life was running towards him. He was about to open his arms wide to take her in his embrace, when she ran straight past him. Shocked, Dev turned and saw where she was running, or rather towards whom she was running. Just a few steps behind him, stood a tall, muscular rather handsome guy with big dimples (I imagined karan wahi) who had a smile matching sona's plastered on his face. She ran into his arms and he lifted her off her feet and spun her around. Dev couldn't move. It was like his feet were stuck to the ground. He thought he knew what agony was, having faced a lot of adversities in life, but nothing prepared him to face the pain of getting your heart broken. He couldn't move, he couldn't think. He just kept staring at the scene unfolding before him.

Sonakshi became aware that Dev was here. She turned towards him with that smile still etched on her face, took the guy's hand in hers and dragged him to where Dev was standing. With a smile, she said " Mr Dixit, meet Mr Anurag Mukherjee." "Mmmhmmm" " Sorry sorry, Dr Anurag Mukherjee, one of the best cardiothoracic surgeons of the United states and my best friend." " Toh aap hai the famous Mr Dixit, jisne meri sona ko itna pareshan kar rakha hai, nice to meet you!" Sona elbowed Anurag in the ribs "Behave Anu(pronounced Onu)" sona chided him. Anurag chuckled. Dev just stood there staring at them, unable to move.

*Present Day*

Dev was brought out of his thoughts by a knock on the door of his cabin. He didn't realize he was clutching his wife's photograph tightly in his hands. He said "Come in" but the visitor kept knocking persistently. Finally, he got up from his chair, determined to give the intruder a piece of his mind.

He opened his cabin door and gasped, "Sonakshi?"

Author's Note: There you go peeps. His wife is here!! And its none other than our very own sonakshi!! Did you guys really think I would let anyone else be Dev's wife? Devakshi are meant to be. I know I could have easily left this chapter at a cliffhanger and not revealed the wife, but I promised y'all I would not make you guys wait any longer. And I always keep my promises 😉 Hope y'all enjoyed reading this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. I love u all for the encouragement and appreciation you give me.
