Hi guys, Here's part 5.I am sorry I took so long to update, I was stuck with exams. But they are done now and I will try to update sooner. Thank you everyone for following the story. This part is a little angsty. I have tried to show Dev's emotions and his inner turmoil on seeing sonakshi being happy with anurag. It is important to show this aspect since it reflects as to why Dev still gets affected by his past, it is because he was in such pain that he never wants to experience it again. Okay, enough of my rambling, Lets start.

*Flashback*

Dev's agony was wrecking havoc on his personal and professional life. He couldn't sleep, he couldn't eat, he couldn't concentrate on anything except sonakshi. Due to the lack of sleep and lack of interaction with his favourite doctor, Dev remained irritated almost 24x7. It was his family and staff that had to bear the brunt of his foul mood. He kept getting angry on minute matters, Nikki and Riya were practically tip toeing around him these days. But neha was an exception. She was in no mood to deal with dev's mood swings. One morning, Dev started shouting at kichhu bhaiya coz he messed up his coffee and put an extra spoon of sugar in it. That was the final straw, Neha couldn't take it anymore and started yelling at her brother.

N: Stop it bhaiya, bas kijiye. Kisi ka gussa kisi aur pe mat nikalye.

D: Neha, please stay out of this. This doesn't concern you.

N: This is my house too. Whatever goes on in this house concerns me. Aap ka kuch zyada hi ho raha hai aaj kal. Har chotti chotti baat pe aap sab par chillane lagte hai. Hum sab aapke naukar nai hai samjhe aap.

D: Meine aisa kab kaha. Neha stop misunderstanding me. No-one understands me in this house.

Saying so, he threw the coffee mug on the floor where it shattered in pieces and stopped right at Sonakshi's feet. Neha just shook her head sadly at her brother's state and walked away from there. Dev looked up to see sonakshi standing near the mess with a solemn expression on her face. She did not utter a single word, but quietly started cleaning up the mess. Kicchu bhaiya came running and told her not to do it, but she sent him away.

Dev saw sonakshi cleaning up the mess and rushed where she was sitting on the ground.

D: Yeh aap kya kar rahi hai miss bose, chodiye isse, yeh aap ka kaam nai hai

S: Mei jaanti hun yeh mera kaam nai hai, but I am the one who's responsible for this mess.

D: What? I was the one who threw the mug. How can you be responsible for it.

S: Im not talking about the mess on the ground. I am talking about the mess thats going on in your head.

Dev looked at her with questioning eyes. Does sonakshi know that I cant bear to see her with that Dr Mukherjee, How did she come to know?

S: Mr Dixit, meine aapse kaha tha na uss din, whatever I said in that park, I didn't mean it that way.

Dev was confused. What is she talking? Didnt mean what?

Suddenly, it hit him. She was talking about her confession. She was standing here thinking that Dev was upset because she told him she loved him. God, you couldn't be more wrong sonakshi, thought Dev. How he wished that she meant every word she said that day. He would give anything to hear those words again from her mouth, "I love u Dev". He gave her such an intense look that Sonakshi was taken aback.

Sonakshi had noticed the change in Dev's behaviour in the last few days. He was sulking most of the time and was always frowning. He seemed lost in some deep thought. She hadn't got the time to call him up or talk to him at length about how he was feeling, She had been very busy since Anurag was in town along with his parents. Everyday after work, Anurag would pick her up and they used to go out. Whenever Dev would catch them together, his frown would deepen and he would appear as if he wanted to slap someone. She didn't know what was going on with him. A part of her felt guilty about the fact that she was unable to talk to Dev and help him in whatever problem he was facing. But on the other hand, she was feeling better than she had in a really long time and thought that if things continued like this, she would be able to really move on from Dev. Once I get a grip on my feelings for Dev, I can finally be his friend again, she thought. Little did she know, these feelings ran too deep for her to just get rid of them. She could avoid how she felt for sometime,by keeping herself busy with Anurag, but the love she had for Dev wasn't going anywhere.

Dev kept staring at her, she looked so beautiful in the yellow dress that she had worn that day. She looks beautiful everyday, he corrected himself. He was so lost in the moment that he unknowingly brought his hand to place a strand of her hair behind her ear that had fallen astray. Both of them were lost in each others eyes when Ishwari came up behind them.

I: Arre Dev beta, yeh kya kiya tune? Yeh mug kyu gira diya

Dev and Sonakshi were snapped out of their eye gazing session by Ishwari's voice. Dev looked guiltily at his mother. Ishwari understood that something was wrong with her son, but she couldn't figure out what it was. Initially she thought it was work related stress but Dev's mood just wasn't improving. She decided to have a word with him.

I: Nutrition, beta mera juice kamre me bhijwa dena, mujhe dev se kuch baat karni hai.

S: Jee auntyji.

Sona went into the kitchen and Ishwari motioned for Dev to follow her.

In Ishwari's room

I: Aaja beta, baith mere pass.

Dev went and sat next to his mother. He felt like crying. He had shared everything with his mom, always. But this time, he couldn't tell her what was bothering him. How could he tell her about sonakshi. He couldn't justify his emotions to himself, let alone his mother.

D: Maa, mujhe pata hai tu kya bolne wali hai. I know aaj kal mei kuch zyada hi weird behave kar raha hun.

I: Kya? Kya behave kar raha hai?

D: Ajeeb. Ajeeb behave kar raha hun. But yeh deal aur kaam ke tension me sara gussa ghar walo par nikal raha hai. Im sorry Maa.

Ishwari knew Dev wasn't telling her the truth. She knew her son better than he knew himself. But she had realised that the time had come for Dev to make decisions about his future without her help or influence. She thought Dev was tensed about Natasha. She didn't know that it wasn't Natasha but a certain brunette doctor that was making her son lose his sleep. So she did what only a mother could do. She gave him her warmest hug. She couldn't help him decide his future but she could certainly offer him her love and support. Dev hugged his mother tightly. He let a few tears run unchecked. He felt like a small child again. He felt much better after it. Without saying a word, his mom had made him feel better and given him renewed strength to face his troubles.

Sonakshi saw the entire scene standing at Ishwari's door. She didn't see the tears that escaped Dev's face since he had her back to her. She caught herself smiling at the tender moment being shared by mother and son and left the room quietly.

At Dev's Office

Dev was as usual in his sullen mood. Tina tried to help him but he would just send her away. When will he confess his love to Dr Bose, tina thought. Dev was sitting in his cabin engrossed in Sonakshi's thoughts when Natasha entered.

N: Hey Dev

D:Hi Natasha, pls come in. How are you?

N: Im good Dev. And i have some very good news. Our deal proposal is finalised. We are ready to sign the papers ASAP. I have convinced Dad. We should sign the papers today.

D: Thats great news NG. Thanks. I didn't think your dad would understand. Thanks a lot

N: Its no problem Dev. I understand we would never have been happy together.

They both sign the deal and shake hands. Natasha looks happy but Dev's happiness doesn't reach his eyes.

N: Whats wrong Dev? The biggest deal of your life is done. Why don't you look happy?

D: Oh, its nothing. I am happy

N: Common Dev, Im not blind. Something is clearly upsetting u. Did you share your feelings with Dr Bose?

On hearing Sonakshi's name, Dev's head popped up.

He shook his head sadly.

N: Oh ho Dev. Yahan tumne mujhse engagement tod di but ab tak apne dil ki baat Ms Bose se nahi kahi.

Dev looked down guiltily. He still felt bad for breaking Natasha's heart. Maybe this was fate's way of paying him back. Karma, as they say. On seeing Dev's sad expression Natasha quickly collected herself

N: I was just joking Dev. Relax. Tell me, why haven't you confessed yet?

D: She has someone else in her life

N: What? Who?

D: Some Dr Anurag, her childhood friend. He's perfect Natasha. He is a cardio surgeon at Freaking John Hopkins, the best hospital in US. He is good looking, tall dark and handsome, every girl's fantasy. And whats more, he's her childhood friend. The bachpan ka dost man! He knows her inside out. She is so comfortable with him. She laughs all the time when she is with him. He comes to pick her up everyday and its like my heart shatters into a million pieces every time I see her walking away with him. I cant bear to look at them. I feel like punching the guy. He has that smug grin on his face all the time. Like he knows something that I don't. Its driving me crazy. And everyone around me has to bear the grunt. Kahan me pyaar me pad gaya. Puri duniya ulti pulti ho gayi meri. I cant think of anything or anybody except her. Its sonakshi, sonakshi, sonakshi everywhere. I cant eat. I cant sleep. I cant breath without her. All i wanna do is just hold her tight and never let go. And the worse thing is, she feels that I am upset because she confessed her feelings to me. She says she didn't mean any of that. How do I tell the stupid girl that its not her confessing her feelings but her denying that she has any feelings for me is what has broken my heart. How do I tell her that she is the first thing on my mind when I wake up and the last thing I think about when I fall asleep. I would give anything in the world to be with her.

Natasha stared at Dev, awestruck, as Dev continued his rant. The guy was a goner. She thanked the heavens that she figured out that Dev wasn't the right choice for her early on. It hurt a little but she understood that it was better for both of them in the long run. She decided to help him. After all, he was her friend. And she was, after all, a hopeless romantic. And wanted to see their love story have a happy ending. She knew sonakshi loved Dev as well. She could see it on her face. Both the idiots wer too afraid to admit it to each other, that they cant live without each other.

D: but I have decided. I want her to happy. If its not with me, but with that, that, Dr Mukherjee then so be it. I love her. And I want her happiness more than anything.

N: Hold it right there, Mr Devdas. Stop all this self sacrificing nonsense. If you love her, then fight for her man. Dont be a coward.

Dev looked at her angrily.

D: I am not a coward.

N: Then stop behaving like one. Did she tell you herself that she loves Dr Mukherjee

D: No... she said he is her best friend.

N: Then don't assume things. Tell her you love her. Or better yet, show her. I have an idea. Lets have a party.

Dev looked at her as if she had grown two heads.

D: What? Are you mad? You want to celebrate my misery?

N: No, stupid. Celebrate our deal. We can have a dance party. Mauka bhi hai, aur dastoor bhi. Its the perfect chance to tell her how you feel.

Dev thought back to the last party he attended with sonakshi. The first time they danced, there were definitely sparks. Only, he was too stupid to see them. He smiled thinking about their dance together and how she slipped and fell in his arms. How he wished he could hold her in his arms forever.

D: I think you're right. It is a good idea. Lets do it.

N: Great. I will send out the invitations.

Suddenly, Dev felt better. He has a chance to tell her how he felt. This time, he will do it. He wont let anything stop him.

*Present Day*

Dev was working on his laptop when his cell phone beeped. An afternoon with sonakshi had made him feel better and he was trying to concentrate on his work when the phone beeped. He checked his cell, it was sonakshi's msg.

"Meet me at the park at 8 sharp. Dont be late. I love you, Mr Obodhro"

Dev smiled. He loved being called Obodhro now, despite what it meant. His smile slowly turned into a frown. She knows I am sceptical about visiting the park. Why does she want me to meet her there? Sona na, she will never stop trying to make me forget the bad memory of her and Dr mukherjee at that park. But he decided to go. After all, he dare not disobey his wife's orders.

Sonakshi on the other hand, was busy preparing her surprise. She had the perfect plan in place. She was sure this memory that she was about to give him would overshadow all the bad ones he had of the park. It would be the most special moment of both their lives. She had involved his entire family in planning the surprise. Ishwari was elated and was helping enthusiastically. Nikki, Riya and Neha were all very excited. She had made arrangements to get the entire park decorated with pretty lights and flowers.

Dev reached the park at 8 sharp. He didn't want to invite his wife's wrath by being late. The lights of the park were closed. He felt odd. Usually, the lights are never off. He was alert and a little worried about sonakshi's safety. He went inside and called out his wife's name. " Sona..."

Suddenly a million lights lit up the park. Pretty arrangements of flowers adorned the lamp posts. The trees had fairy lights in them. The fountains were colourful with different lights shining on them. It was a sight to behold. Dev watched in wonder. He took a few steps ahead towards the middle of the park. He was admiring the lights and the decorations when his gaze fell on the centre of the park. There stood his center of the universe. His beautiful wife. She was radiant. There was a small group gathered in the middle of the park. Next to sonakshi, was his mother. The other most important woman of his life. His sisters were standing on either side of his mother. Everyone he knew and loved were there. His childhood friend chintu( i forgot his name), Sona's family.. her parents, brother, dadi everyone was here, even tina. They all had the biggest smiles on their faces. As Dev moved closer, they all separated. As they moved away, he saw there was a banner behind them, that read the words that changed his life forever " CONGRATULATIONS DADDY DIXIT!!!!" In front of the banner stood his beloved wife, with a shy smile on her face and both hands lovingly wrapped around her tummy.

Dev couldn't believe his eyes. He was going to be a father. Sonakshi was pregnant. He was over the moon with joy. He ran as fast as he could and hugged sonakshi tight. He picked her up and twirled her around. While she was still in his arms he gave her a big kiss. He didn't care who was present and who watched. He was lost in the moment with his wife. They were about to become parents. A proof of their undying love was about to enter the world. Dev was on cloud nine. He didn't think he could be any happier. He held sonakshi tight against his chest and whispered, " Thank you baby, for making me the happiest man in the world" " I love you Dev" sonakshi whispered back. "I love you more than anything in the world" Dev held her tightly. His eyes were wet with tears of happiness. His mom and sonakshi's parents also had tears in their eyes. The whistles and hoots around them forced Dev and sonakshi to separate from each other, but he never let go of her hand. As everyone congratulated them, he kissed sonakshi's forehead and thought to himself, " At last sonakshi managed to erase all bad memories of this park and managed to make this place my favourite place on earth by giving me the best news of my life, our baby is on its way"

Thats all for now, folks. Yes, Devakshi is pregnant!!! I know it feels as if its too early, but pls remember in the present day Dev and sonakshi have been married for a year and the flashback scenes happened a long time ago. I wanted to show two parallel storylines simultaneously and try to show how one thing affects the other. I hope you guys are liking the story. Please leave your comments.
