Chapter 7: ''did the girls decide to split their secrets out to me?'' Mrs Diya realised 😊

Nandita's mother, a down to earth lady of her fifties had seen life more than the grey hair in her head. Nandita loves the far sightedness and practical qualities of her mother who she is inspired to. Yudishnee loves Mrs Diya for her affirmation and genuine care she has for her. She feels that Nandita is really lucky to have such role models.

She grasped the car key and the photo she had with Arohi before leaving home.

''Nandita and Yudishnee called me hun,see you in an hour,'' Mrs Diya said to her husband when she left the home.

A woman like Mrs Diya is really rare to find one. No wonder why her children admire her so much, she is a self made, independent and yet caring lady. Strong minded and practical personality that attracted Mr Yuvy Mittal to her! The way she takes care of her family and of her private consultation as psychology actually brought awe even to her in laws. They feel lucky to have her as their daughter in law even if she finds it a little tough to hold her wrath when she is really angry. She is like the bucket of water who has been over flown and over tested for patience when she is angry for real reason and bursted like natural calamity. At times Shyam and Nandita joked to her on her volatility of her wrath when she is in a good mood, Her husband, Mr Yuvy, Nandita's dad is a funny and overoptimistic man. Yudishnee wished to have a dad like him, he is someone that treated his kids as friends and always with a smile. Undoubtedly why Nandita is an enthusiastic person, she is a carbon copy of her dad but with her mother complexion while Salil, her brother is Xerox copy of Mrs Diya with Mr Yuvy's complexion. This is why Nandita loved to walk with his brother to parties when they were teenagers, she enjoyed those popping eyes of beautiful girls on her thinking how come a dashing and hot young man can walk with a girl as freaking crazy as her.

It was last week itself that Shyam was talking to Nandita in their usual weekly long drive where the siblings shared what's in their mind and heart, when it comes to personal matters, the siblings love to share between them as they do not want their parents to worry about their experience even if they know that they are the best trusted persons. However they never felt betraying their parents in that behaviour because it was granted from Mrs Diya herself when she said to them and supported by Mr Yuvy that they are happy that Nandita and Yuvy have seen each other as the sharing companion, as long one family member knows on what is happening, there is nothing wrong in it and sharing between siblings are at times better and relieved to the parents that they are sure that one day when they will not be here, their children are here for each other.

Undoubtedly this is the reason that Nandita and Shyam felt they are lucky people to get such wonderful parents and they know that they might not be as good parents as them but will definitely try to. Advantage of arranged wedding, was what Shyam, Nandita's 15 month older brother was sharing to her. Their parents had an arranged and successful wedding. Shyam started realising by living a beautiful love relationship with Shilpa that when one is in love, there are automatically expectations among each other, either wanted or unwanted. As someone grew in a relationship, love grew in new shape and therefore adjustment might be in unthinkable ways. Nandita could understand what her brother means because she is herself in the dilemma of love. While Mr& Mrs Yuvy Mittal married because both knew they had to settle in a family. Mrs Diya felt she reached a marriageable age and it was time to have a family of herself while Mr Yuvy, who is five years older than her, also felt the same but in a different way, after settled properly in a job he likes, he is an accountant and he has already constructed a house, he realised that it was time to get a wife rather than spending money with friends. They were both practical persons and never feel the need to expect something in returns between them, instead their individualism and their responsible view towards life made them successful couple and parents. When the children looked towards their parents, the way their mother selflessly took care of their father when he was seriously ill, the way their mother took care of the home and the way their father was always cooperating in the household chores and to them, apparently the couple are in love but did not feel the need to express on what in a love couple relationship needs to maintain.

However their collaboration that hold the family roots turned to be the reflecting personality of their siblings. Even if both kids have fallen in love but the strength of that family values made them withhold the relationship that can break as love can be as fragile as a glass or as strong as the blow of wind. Both kids with their partners belong to the second category. While Shyam was lucky to have a life partner who comes from the almost same kind of family roots to him, where it can undeniably unable to reject the theorem of law of attraction by Newton and Nandita was in the other extreme of love feeling. Hers and Abhinav were kind of opposite attracts until when they drew close they understood they are mirror image. Funny but true on how in the same family, the same upbringing, can at times brings two different personality with different attitude yet these siblings are growing so much similar character wise to each other which is hard for Abhinav to accept that he has the third place as man in Nandita's life that comes after her brother and father respectively. Nandita always argued to him that her family knew her for twenty three years and she cannot suddenly think that a man can be more important than them. However she admits that it is Abhinav with whom she feels as ease as she is with her family. Though she is not yet fully accepted the new love between them as they were friends before and also because of the difference in Abhinav's family, she knows that it is Abhinav's smile that she holds as much as of her dad.

Nandita has faith in time and believes in taking things slow if it is meant for lifetime.

Yudishnee heard someone knocked at the door, she wondered that in five minutes how can Nandita returned. She peeped from the hole and she was utterly surprised to see Nandita's mother and Nandita. For a minute, her heartbeat skipped thinking whether Mrs Diya caught Dits with a cigarette. She quickly opened the door and justified '' hello aunty, please forgive Dits for the cigarette.''

Ouch, Nandita felt.

''what'' Mrs Diya starred, did the girls plan to reveal all their dark secrets to her the same day.

Nandita cleared her throat. Yudishni looked puzzle.

''well done girls, i bet both of you are quits now.'' Mrs Diya said in a mixed amusing and serious tone.

Nandita frowned and Yudishnee dazed as swift as the pendulum ticks.

''Oho'' Nandita sighed as she did not foresee this situation.

''What is happening, can anyone tell me?'' asked embarrassed Yudishnee.

''I am sorry sister,'' Nandita mustered courage and excused herself.

''for?'' Yudishnee asked.

''to say to me the reason she is here,'' Mrs Diya answered back.

Yudishnee was blown hard. She felt a little betrayed from Nandita. Yet she was unable to feel the ''how dare she'' hammered.

''Why sis?'' she asked to Nandita with blurred eyes.

''Yudishnee, you know like me that mom is your mom's friend,'' she defended in simplicity.

''Beti, Nandita was in right intention just like you were in the right intention defending her of a cigarette that we don't know she smokes.'' Mrs Diya decided to interfere.

''OMG'' Yudishni gasped. She understood that she split it out too.

''That's fine sister, one day or the other they would have known on it,'' Nandita said when she kept her hand in her shoulders.

''Ok, girls, it happens and yes, Nandita you owe all of us an explanation at home.'' Said Mrs Diya.

Nandita blushed with embarassement. ''damned'' she felt.

''mom please keep that between us, i have smoked only five cigarettes in five years.' Nandita defended herself.

''what?'' Mrs Diya was surprised. ''you smoked when you were 18 and we did not know, you breached our trust, you know that dita, don't you''

Nandita was feeling guilty as she did not want this moment which is why she hid it from her family.

''ma i did not intend it and i am sorry ma, i have no explanations too,'' said Nandita with teary eyes when she knelt down and beg for pardon.

''please forgive her aunty,'' Yudishnee came into her rescue.

Mrs Diya looked at her, ''I will in one condition'' she said to Yudishnee.

''what's that? I am ready for anything aunty.'' Yudishnee said.

''Call Sarvesh right away?'' Mrs Diya said.

''huh,'' Yudishnee was confused.

''You will stop this secretive wedding.'' Mrs Diya said wittingly.

Yudishnee did not know how to react to that as she respected Mrs Diya more than her relatives.

''what do you know about love yudishnee for you to go and jump in the arms of whosoever?'' Mrs Diya said in a firm tone.

''Ma,'' Nandita said.

Mrs Diya looked at her in those fiery but caring eyes that Nandita understood not to argue.

''like you know that your mother was my friend, infact she was my 'ame-soeur''' continued to Mrs Diya.

The girls were silent as they felt that Mrs Diya melt into sweetness when she remembered about Yudishnee's mother.

''your mom was as impulsive as you are acting now. First she betrayed her own trust then she went into such decadence that i still prayed no one to be in.''

Yudishnee blurred.

''beti you are as important and dita is for me and before for me to continue on the heartwarming story of your mother, you have to call off the wedding. All you have to know that we are your well wishers. Or if you don't want,give me a reason why are you in hurry to get married?'' asked Nandita's mother.

''aunty as you know i have been in a torn life and he is the only guy who accepted me from when i met when i am not chaste.'' Yudishnee broke the ice finally.

''so what if you are not chaste. It is the men who took your chastity and is it for themselves you want to be submissive.'' Mrs Diya said affirmatively.

''do you know beti,it was that thought itself that ruined the chirpiness of your mother.'' She added in a pain.

''what happened ma?'' Nandita asked.

''aunty what do you mean?'' Yudishnee asked knowing that the matter is serious.

Mrs Diya took the photo she brought with her,

''this is your mother, Yudishnee, Arohi, Arohi Arora.'' She said

Both girls come and look at her picture and Nandita easily identified the same smile of Arohi in Yudishnee.

Chapter 8: ''I am looking for the picture of your dad,'' said Mrs Diya

''I know my mom but it is the first time I saw her in her youth,'' reacted Yudishnee.

''how could I ignore your smile, Yudishnee, that reflected the same as this bubbly girl,'' Mrs Diya said.

''who is this Arjun, aunty? I have seen his name in her diary and i remembered one arjun uncle visited our place,'' Yudishnee said, changing topic.

''Perhaps I must start from where I know. I knew your mother in college days. She was someone who can attract anyone to her with her crazy and friendly approach.'' Said Mrs Diya.

Yudishnee nodded and Nandita expressed with eyes signal to her mother to continue.

''Arohi Arora, a young wheatish energetic girl of her 20s joined Udayana university. I was new there too, she was the only girl who travelled from Jakarta to Bali as she was all set for her goals to fulfil like any young girls. Her attitude and style mesmerised the whole college to her and her aptitude made her be favourite among the lecturers too.'' Diya paused and turned to look if she can see any photo of Mr Anand Nanda.

''continue ma,'' Nandita suggested.

''what are you looking for aunty?'' Yudishnee asked, ''oh i forgot to serve you coffee,i am sorry,'' added Yudishnee.

''your dad's photo,''Mrs diya said.

''why?'' Yudishnee asked when she went to have water in the kettle while Nandita went to take a cup and coffee.

''he used to be my lecturer.'' She said in a breaking tone.

''aunty'' Yudishnee was shocked.

''ma, what do you mean?'' asked Nandita equally shocked. She could see that both of them froze when her mother revealed the truth.

''Mr Anand Nanda was my lecturer,girls,'' she said while walking to them and prepared the coffee herself and prepared for the girls too.

''aunty my dad is in CID.'' Said Yudishnee.

''he changed profession later, I believed, and i knew different character of Mr Anand than the image you projected of your dad.'' She said.

''gosh, my mother married to her professor.'' Said Yudishnee, suddenly felt weird.

''a man twice of her age.'' Mrs Diya added.

Nandita choked and Yudishnee was in tears.

''WHYYY.'' Yudishnee screamed.
