Hey Guys, decided to start a new FF, hope you all like it, you will notice some familiar characters in it, hehe!! Anyway- here's the first part, hope you enjoy it!!
FF- BEAUTY AND THE GEEK
He stumbled into the room, the mountain of books he carried almost toppling over, yet somehow he managed to steady the books before reaching his chair. He sighed, dropping the books on his desk and collapsed on the chair, fixing his glasses up, which by this time had slipped down to the tip of his nose.
Oblivious to the sniggers that echoed through the air, he skimmed through the pages of the Calculus textbook that lay in front of him, hoping to squeeze in some more revision before the teacher Mr Patel entered the classroom. He began mumbling equations under his breath and began jotting down notes in his notebook that his mother had gifted him on his birthday. His mother sure did know about his tastes and distastes, he thought to himself and smiled.
Suddenly a hand on his shoulders made him jump, the sudden jerk of his body causing his glasses to plunge forward on to the desk. His hands fumbled around the desk searching for them and when he finally got a hold of them, he gently placed them back on his face, relieved to be able to see clearly again. He looked up to see her smiling down at him. She shifted in the seat beside him and he lowered his head back to his book.
'Did I scare you?' asked Meera simply before taking her own textbook out of her bag.
'Ummm...no of course not Meera...I was just reading that the derivative f'(x) of a curve at a point is the slope of the line tangent to that curve at that point,' he said without removing his gaze from the book.
Meera rolled her eyes. 'Yeah...that sounds really...interesting,' she uttered, trying to suppress her giggle.
'Where were you at lunchtime Prem? Me and Ravs were waiting for you' she asked observing him as he remained engrossed by the symbols spread across the page in front of him.
'Well I thought it would be good if I did some revising over lunch, so I gave lunch a miss.'
Meera shook her head and placed her hand on his shoulder again. 'That's not good Prem! We all know you're going to get an A anyway, there's no point going hungry- Don't go too overboard with the revising' she said in a caring tone, her eyes clearly showing concern.
He was not the typical teenager chasing after girls and letting hormones run ravage on his body. Yes, he believed in love. Yes, he was waiting for the right girl to come along and steal his heart. But that one special girl just never seemed to enter his life. He couldn't comprehend why girls would take one look at him and run a mile. Thankfully, he had amazing friends like Meera and Ravjot who were always there to support him, giving him company whenever he was alone and listening to his drivel about calculus and quantum physics.
'It's okay Meera. I wasn't hungry anyway, plus the...' he stopped his sentence midway, drawn to a certain female who just happened to walk into the classroom, followed by a swarm of boys, like bees to a flower. Her heeled shoes tapped against the wooden floor as she swayed across the room to her desk. She gently swung her long tresses of black luminous hair behind her back, exciting the boys further, before taking a seat between her best friends Shifali and Asma.
'Close your mouth- You'll catch flies' laughed Meera, bringing her fingers up to close Prem's jaw. He looked at her, shook his head and looked back down to the textbook, unable to understand what had just come over him.
