I have vague memories of watching TV serials such as "Baneygi apni baat", "Darr" "Hum panchi ek daal key", "Dekh bhai dekh", "Thoda sa aasman" etc. as I grew up. While I must admit I was never an avid viewer of TV, I never had found any of these soaps so super-illogical and nonsensical. These soaps used to have not only a fairly good story but also a strong cast- Aashish Vidyarthi, Pavan Malhotra, Irfan Khan, Pallavi Joshi, Kay Kay Menon... to name a few.

I wonder what happened down the line and the soaps have become rotten tomatoes these days.

Yas, I think these serials were aired between 1990-2000. I think some of them were on DD1 (Doordarshan- national television).

When were you born Aasiya? These serials are from 90s. I think if you lived abroad you wouldn't have got DD channel.

@ shubs , i think there are way too many channels , two many shows these days, i feel its all about trp's rather than a good quality show. Shows which were really good like...Virodh etc.didn't get high trp's hence went off air! how sad is that......... while shows like Yeh rishta...which has no story or plot ( its all about singing , getting married😆, main lead fell ILL because her rishta got cancelled😆 ) is at the top! thats tells us something😆

Munee, these soaps I have mentioned are definitely pre-Ekta days. I had stopped watching TV soaps by the time Ekta started.
