@ shubs , i think there are way too many channels , two many shows these days, i feel its all about trp's rather than a good quality show. Ho darling prior to college there was no tv for us my dad was pretty strict so no cable too.... hmm seems like I missed some good stuff.

We too didn't have cable for a while. However, I stopped watching TV after we got cable- guess that was during college. That's how I missed K soaps (thank God).

Yep you did miss something....
Had you watched Alpviram BTW?...A woman gets raped in a hospital... (Pallavi Joshi was the main lead)...

The mid-80s and early 1990s were the haydays Shubs. DD had some very good serials. My hindi knowledge was very poor those days and yet I used to watch those serials and bug my hindi speaking friends the next day to translated the episode for me. I used to love 'Zindagi' starring Benjamin Ghilani (had a huge crush on him) and Supriya Pathak, Yeh jo hai Zindagi (a comedy show), Wagle ki Dhuniya (another comedy show), Darpan, Nukkad, Malgudi Days, Fauji (loved SRK 's vivaciousness), Uddhan etc. I agree that there are a few good shows even now. Only they garner such low trps that they dont last. By the time people like us realise they exist, they are gone!

Hmm I guess Opti you and Shubs miss the good old days..... am glad in a way I never saw them else I'd have pined over them too.

How did I forget Malgudi days!! It's one of my all time favorites. Munee, it's based on the stories of a novelist/writer called R K Narayan. I have read his books so many times. It's about a small imaginary Indian village called Malgudi. The characters are so realistic that you would fall in love with them. If you ever get a chance do read his works or do watch the serial if they are re-telecasting it on any channel.

And yes, the direction and acting were top class. These K soaps come no way near it...

@Opti Akka, I do have vague memories of Wagle ki duniya, Fauji etc... Yep, those were the days.
