Re-cap : Robbie's painful past is revealed. His parents had died in a car crash in US. Devika yearns for Robbie to recgonize her as his mother. Kasturi cannot continue without Robbie and makes an effort to reach to him. Robbie also has feelings for her but is not willing to accept them!
PART - 16 : LYING TO HER, LYING TO HIM
On Thursday, Robbie attends his scheduled interview with Surti Industries. The interview team is absolutely floored by him and they make him an on the spot offer! 😊 He has time till next Monday to respond. Robbie, for the time being resigns to his fate and decides to accept the offer. 😕
Next day is Friday. After finishing his classes for that day, Robbie is just about to leave when Ajay approaches him. Robbie is surprised to see him and is even more surprised at the expression on Ajay's face. Ajay looked very flustered and upset! 😕 Something was eating him. Robbie wonders if he had anything to do with it?? They shake their hands, wishing each other and Ajay hands him a paper. Robbie takes it and looks at it. He looks up to Ajay, shocked !!!! 😲 😲 😲 Ajay responds with a......"Do you think its acceptable to you?" A surprised Robbie 😛 with happiness spreading on his face asks......"But how....I mean.....I thought you wanted Kartik?" 😲 😲 Ajay scowls but his tone is decent enough and he says........"No offence, Robbie but I did want Kartik, aur ussne accept bhi kiyaa tha....lekin last minute mei he refused! Apparently he has taken up another offer, a US based offer!" His facial expressions reveal how upset he was at Kartik's fickle mindedness. He continues.........."Lekin, its upto him, what he wants....You were our second choice and so now the offer comes to you". Ajay looks at Robbie, trying to fathom the expressions on Robbie's face. Was he upset, was he elated or was he greedy or was he going to refuse?? Then he says......"I hope you accept! Let us know by Monday."
And he is about to turn away when Robbie says...."I accept the offer. Thank you!" 😃
Ajay looks at him surprised 😲 at how quickly he had taken the decision! Robbie sees that surprise and says....."Jaanta hum tum kya soch rahe ho. First off, I am not very particular about the money....I am very particular about the work though.....aur yeh project meraa dream job hai! Jab mujhe offer nahi milaa toh I was very disappointed! 😕 I got other offers but I wanted only this!! Mei already decision le chuka tha, bas decision bataane ki deri thi!!" 😊
Ajay listens to him. He is quite surprised that Robbie was so honest and forthright about how bad he wanted a job at the Chawla.E! Robbie did not try to hide his real feeling and did not act hard to get, which he could have easily done considering that the ball was in his court and he could have made Ajay run around!!! He says....."Lekin Robbie, you could have played hard to get. Shaayad, I might have increased the offer!"
Robbie says with a smile : That's a business tactic Ajay and I am not a business man at this point. 😊 I consider you just as a friend and I don't do that to friends. Besides, I don't bargain on things that are closest to my heart and this job is one of them! 😛
Robbie extends his hand and says : Lets shake on it then.
Ajay looks at Robbie's extended hand and thinks......"I did not want him but now I have no choice" and he extends his hand too and they both shake their hands, staring at each other with wary expressions as they are very unsure about how this new relationship was going to fare!
Robbie goes home that day, unbelievably happy at the turn of events and his jubilation spreads to his other family members too!!
Puru says beaming : Mujhe hamesha seh maalum tha puttar, ke tujh jaise intelligent ladhke ko koi naa nahi keh sakta! 😃
Deviks says : Yeh sab bhagwaan ki krupaa hai ke tujhe jo chahiye woh mil gayaa! 😛
All his sisters are excited and Divya says..."Pehle month ki salary meri!" 😛 Everyone laughs 😆 😆 and Devika hits lightly on Divya's head and says..."Tujhe itni kya zarooratien hai ke tujhe poori ek month ki salary chahiye??" Divya says..."Kyun nahi hai???" And she reads out a huge list of her wants! Everyone laugh and Alaana says......"Bhaiyya, ek badhiya party ho jaaye?" Robbie smiles and says........."You bet! Lekin tum logon ke exams ke baad!" 😃
That weekend Robbie notices that Kasturi has not come to her studio and he assumes she is preparing for her exams, and yes....she was preparing for her exams. Kasturi tries to push Robbie away from her mind and concentrate on what had to be done at that moment. Staying away from him isn't really helping, but still she puts an all out effort to keep his thoughts at bay!
Next weekend is the final hockey match of the University between DU and BHU. Everyone is very excited and inspite of their exams, the Sabharwal girls.....including Shivani, the most studious one 😲, make it to the match to support their brother! Puru and Devika skip the match as they have a lot of pending things to take care of.
Robbie had not seen Kasturi for the last 10 days and after a long fight with himself, he acknowledges that he had missed her!! 😳 He really hopes that she will show up at the match! And she does......along with Gia! 😛 Gia is the first one to come up to Robbie with Kasturi slowly following behind....Robbie and Kasturi stare at each other, their eyes acknowledging how glad they were at seeing each other!! 😳 She is wearing a chocolate brown top on a light brown khakhi skirt and looked lovely! But she has a troubled look on her face that is not visible to everybody, but only to the person who is looking her at most intensely! Gia reaches Robbie and says......"Hey Robbie! Pataa hai, yeh sab tumhaari hi galti hai!" 😡
Robbie asks her surprised : Kya matlab? 😛
Gia : Tumhaari wajah seh hame har hockey match mei aana padh rahaa hai.....agar nahi aaye toh pataa nahi kya miss ho jaayenge!! 😉
She winks at a blushing Robbie who says : Man, you are incorrigible!! 😳 Toh yeh wajah hai tum donon kaa yahaan aane ka!
Gia says playfully: Yeh wajah sirf meri hai, Kasturi ki nahi! Kasturi kaa wajah toh Raunak Singhania hai! Woh usse dekhkar, aahe bharne ke liye aati hai!!! 😉 😆
Kasturi looks at Gia shocked 😲 and Robbie looks at Kasturi shocked!!! 😲 😲
Alarm bells start ringing in his head.... 😕 in a flash he remembers the way Raunak had introduced Kasturi at the party...he had said "a very special friend of mine"!! Then he remembers when Kasturi had come to the Univerisy, how they were holding hands and looked so comfortable with each other!! Robbie's mind was in a tumultuous state.....he is chiding himself big time!!! He knew he should have stopped himself from getting attracted to her, 😒 he knew he should have guessed, that she was playing him, 😒 he suddenly remembers the time at the busstop when she was warming upto some other stranger, he should have known better than to let her into his life!!!!! 😲 😲 😔 Kasturi is helplessly staring at the changing emotions on his face and the cold, hard look that was creeping into his eyes!!! They hear Gia say again........"Ek samay mei toh Kasturi yeh bhi sochti thi ke usse Raunak seh pyaar hai!!" and she laughs 😆 😆
Something dies within Robbie and the look on his face kills Kasturi! 🤢 And finally that look pushes Kasturi into action before any further damage is done!!! She shouts at Gia : Kya bak rahi hai Gia??? What nonsense are you talking?? 😡
She turns to look at Robbie and pleads with him : Please don't believe this!!! Gia mazaak kar rahi hai........Yeh sab sach nahi hai!
But there is no change in Robbie's expression and a desperate Kasturi says with tears in her eyes : Please, meraa yakeen karo.....yeh sab sach nahi hai! Yeh kabhi sach nahi ho sakta.....kyonki....kyonki...mei tumseh pyaar karti hun!!!!!
Robbie and Gia turn to look at Kasturi shocked 😲 😲 😲 and surprised beyond words!!! Gia is the first to react and she grabs Kasturi's hand and questions her........"What do you mean....."
Kasturi cuts her and replies looking at Robbie...."I mean what I say!! I love you........I really do!"
Robbie stares at her for a few seconds and then turns around abruptly and leaves!!!! Warm tears flow out of Kasturi's eyes at the realization that he was not moved and had completely disregarded such a huge statement that she had made!! 😭 She looks at Gia frustrated and runs away to a remote spot!! A very guilty Gia runs after her and soon catches up with her! She grabs Kasturi's hands and says.....'Oh my God Kasturi, I am so sorry....mei toh bas mazaak kar rahi thi! I had no clue...no clue whatsoever, ki you had feelings for him!!! Oh God, me and my loud mouth!!! I am very very sorry, Kas! 😕
Kasturi was not mad at Gia because she knew that it was a honest mistake on her part. What bothered her more was that this was not how she was planning to reveal her feelings!!! This was not how she wanted to tell him that she loved him!! 😔 This was not how she wanted to surprise him, right in the middle of a million people!!! She was forced to do this.......way ahead of time and as a result she has apparently thrown away any chance she had with him!!! 🤢 She hugs Gia but the tears just would not stop!!! 😭 😭 The only thought in her mind was that Robbie would never give her a look again, he was going to hate her!!! 🤢
But Kasturi was not entirely right about what Robbie was thinking....he was not hating her! His mind was actually blank, completely blank! He was warming up with his team but he had no clue what he was actually doing! He had recieved a huge shock 😲 😲 in the form of her revelation! He had not expected it, atleast not at that moment!!! He knew they had a certain attraction towards each other but he had not known that Kasturi had crossed the threshold of attraction and had already reached the higher plane of love!!! 😲 😲 And his reaction........how could he behave like such a dumb a$$?? 😡 How could he walk away like that??? 😡 That was brutal of him and it must have really hurt Kasturi!! But he knew he could not do anything else. He was completely taken aback and he was not sure how to react or what to say and so had left!!! The referee whistles and the game commences. Gia has convinced Kasturi to control herself and has dragged her to the match. Both of them were now sitting watching the game. Kasturi's eyes do not leave Robbie for a second! Her heart was breaking into pieces and he was both............the one breaking it and the one holding it together!!!! 😭
Robbie hits the ball with vengeance!! His entire frustration with himself, his inability to express his emotions, the incapacity on his part to accept relationships, to trust people, to accept the truth..........everything, everything was being taken out on the ball via the hockey stick!!! 😡 He lashes at it, in the process of lashing at himself 😡 and this does not escape Kasturi's notice. Tears flow down her cheeks incessantly........the timing was all wrong and she had messed it up!! Throughout the first half, Robbie finds it hard to concentrate on his game! Sunil and the coach look at each other surprised at Robbie's lack of concentration!! In the final moments of the first half, BHU scores a goal!!! DU team gets tensed. They hit half time.
The team troops in to the dressing room......The coach restratagizes, prods Robbie as to why he is not performing, perks everyone up and they all get back to the field. Robbie had not looked upto the crowds even once during the first half! But now he turns to look at his sisters in their usual place. He waves at them and they wave back excitedly!!! Kasturi is staring at Robbie and she is wishing, willing him to look her way. But he does not!!! As Kasturi starts to hurt 😒, Gia tries to comfort her by saying........"Kas, hum kahaan baithe hai, usse nahi pataa! Shall I stand up and wave at him?"
Kasturi looks at her sharply and shakes her head in the negative! No, she was not going to upset him anymore than she already has....he had a game to win!
The match recommences....DU is on the defensive and under pressure. During the second half, Raunak saves a couple of goals brilliantly and finally another DU forward scores a goal! Both DU adn BHU are at 1 goal each, extra time also does not produce a result and finally the match reaches the 5 penalty strokes.
Both teams score 2 goals each again and they are on the last stroke. BHU does not score and finally it is the last chance for DU. Robbie had not performed at all but still Sunil places his trust on Robbie and gives him the stroke. Robbie places the ball and is concentrating. Suddenly he looks up and stares straight at Kasturi!! Kasturi's heart comes into her mouth.....he KNEW where she was sitting!!!!! 😲 😲 😲
Of course he knew!!! He could single her out in a crowd of a million people because it was not his physical eyes that searched for her, it was his heart that searched for her and she could NEVER be hidden from his inner eye!!
Kasturi does not realize that she has stood up! They stare at each other and the next second Robbie hits the ball with all he has and the ball smashes into the net......nobody could have stopped it! The whole field erupts like a volcano and Robbie is lost in the sea of team mates and class mates!! Kasturi sits down on her chair.......completely numb!! She had seen the truth in his eyes........he was in love with her!!! She closes her eyes..........she had been over the edge and has come back!!!
It is almost 2 hours before Robbie is finally ready to leave......after the award ceremony, after the team catching up. Kasturi waits for him........she wanted to talk to him again! She could not continue another minute without a resolution to this issue! Alaana, Shivani and Divya are also waiting for Robbie. They see Kasturi and Gia. Alaana is surprised to see them there! And she walks upto them........Gia and Kasturi wish Alaana. Alaana asks them what they were doing there?? Gia says they are waiting for a friend of their's...Raunak.
Alaana calls her sisters over and introduces everyone to everyone 😊 .........just then, Robbie and a couple of other guys come out. He sees all of them together.........his eyes are immediately pulled towards Kasturi and she starts to walk towards him without realizing that there are people around them!! Gia quickly grabs Kasturi's hand and stops her in her tracks. She signals to a surprised Kasturi to hold back!
Robbie's sisters rush to him and congratulate him! 😃 Gia and Kasturi also walk up behind them. While Gia congratulates Robbie, Kasturi simply stares at him her eyes expressing her need to talk to him!! Robbie says to his sisters......"Tum log Gia seh baat karte raho, mei abhi aaya!" He signals Kasturi to follow him and starts walking back into the building. Kasturi follows him. As soon as Kasturi enters the building, she sees him waiting for her.
Kasturi walks upto him. He is staring at her! She is very nervous and says........"I am sorry...meraa yakeen karo, mei tumhe iss tarah seh delicate situation mei daalna nahi chahti thi! Lekin, ab baat baahar aa hi gayi hai toh, I want to say........that my feelings are genuine....I really do love you!!" Kasturi's eyes are downcast when she says the last sentence. But Robbie knew it was a true statement, he did not need the proof of her honesty in her eyes!
Robbie replies : I am the one who is sorry, Kasturi! I behaved in a very ungentleman like manner! My reaction could have been much better than that! But I hope you can understand that I was a little shocked! But now I am in a position to behave better!
As soon as he says that, Kasturi looks up at him, her eyes filling up with hope and expectation! Robbie notices that and says......."No, no...its not like what you are thinking!
He sees the light go out of her eyes but continues to say : I respect your feelings but I cannot reciprocate! I am sorry........but I don't have the same feelings for you!
Kasturi stares at him shocked!! He was lying, she had seen his eyes on the field, they had told her the truth........but here he was standing infront of her and his eyes were cold and hard. There was no reflection of that truth, now in his eyes!!! There was nothing in his eyes to indicate that he was lying!!! He says : I am sorry for hurting you! It was done most unintentionally!
He walks past her and Kasturi turns back to look at his moving away figure, shocked! 😲 😲 She follows him out of the building! Robbie has reached his sisters. He bids goodbye to Gia whose eyes were questioning him, and all 4 of them go out, hail a taxi and leave. A numb Kasturi and Gia get into Kasturi's car. She starts the ignition and the following song blares out of the radio......
