Sharain Khanduja, who plays the character of Malaika in Colors TV’s ongoing drama Mannat, recently faced a concerning health issue during a demanding shoot. The actress, who is now a central figure in the storyline, opened up about falling ill while filming a particularly exhausting and emotionally intense sequence for the show.
In a recent interview, Sharain revealed that she began to feel unwell after acting out a scene where her character is unknowingly drugged. In the episode, Mannat spikes Malaika’s soup, causing her to experience labored breathing. As part of the performance, Sharain had to continuously portray the effects of the drug by breathing heavily for an extended period while other characters continued with their lines.
Recalling the moment, Sharain explained, “During the shoot, I had to show heavy breathing throughout the scene. I didn’t realize how much it would affect me physically, but after some time, I actually started struggling to breathe. My blood pressure and sugar levels dropped, and I was feeling extremely weak.” A doctor was immediately called to the set to check on her condition.

Sharain shared that she had already been feeling slightly under the weather before the shoot, and the ongoing schedule didn’t allow her enough time to rest or recover. “I wasn’t fully okay to begin with, and the emotional and physical toll of the scene just made things worse,” she admitted.
Currently, she’s feeling better and is on the path to recovery. However, she also talked about the demanding work schedule that may have contributed to her condition. “Ayesha (who plays Mannat) and I have been shooting non-stop for 35 days without a break,” she said. “With the recent twist in the story, Malaika’s character has become more prominent, and that means I’ve had more scenes, many of them emotionally intense.”
Even with the health scare, Sharain remains passionate about her work. She expressed her gratitude to fans and assured them that she’s doing better now. “It’s been hectic, but I love what I do,” she said.
The actress continues to win hearts with her performance and dedication, and fans are eagerly watching to see what dramatic turns her character Malaika will take next in Mannat.
