Aaaaaand yes I'm back!! 😃 With another update ofcourse! 😛 Oooops... need my chocolate coated bread to start! (Yum yum!) ... (goes off for five minutes to make my sandwhich)... back! 😛 Well here I gooooo... SILENT TEARS Set-back: Kasturi was still in hospital. Bechari is so confused. Doesn't know what to do, and is so worried. Who can help her? What will she do? Tears were streaming down her face. She really felt helpless. There was absolutely no one she could turn to. 100k rupees was such a large sum of money! Where on earth could a student arrange such money from? She was confused and lost. She looked around helplessly. 'what am I going do' she asked herself helplessly. She covered her mouth with her hand to suppress a cry of despair. It was now 2.00am in the morning, she had had no sleep, her migraine was returning and she looked terrible. She was in her world of despair as she slowly walked up to reception. She saw the phone on the reception desk, and asked the receptionist if she could make a few calls. Once her permission was granted, she dialled the number her heart told her too… a few rings went by till she finally heard the phone click.
"Hello?" said a gentle and friendly male voice on the other end of the line. Stifling a fresh sob she replied, "Ba… Bauji" she said in a small voice. "Kasturi?!" replied her father. Something was wrong he could sense it. It was 2.30am and getting a call from his daughter was extremely worrying indeed. "Beta, kya hua?! What's wrong, why are you calling so early? Is everything ok?" he asked, his voice full with concern and worry. Hearing her husband's worried voice, Rajeshwari had awoken and was listening to their conversation intently. "Lao mujhe phone doh!" she said grabbing the phone off he husband. "Kasturi beta, Kya hua?!!" she asked panicking. "Sab teek toh hain na?!" she said down the phone. Hearing such love from their voices, all Kasturi could was cry. "Ma…" she started, through her sobs… "Haan beta kya?! Why are you crying?" asked Rajeshwari, who had now started to cry hearing her daughters sobs. Kasturi ended up telling everything that had happened about Mukti and the job offer and how she had left the job, following all incidents to her mother. "Aur ab, I have to find 100k for her operation Ma, if not Mukti will die!" she cried. All Rajeshwari could do was console her over the phone. Both Bauji and Rajeshwari took turns to console their darling daughter. This seemed to help Kasturi a bit as she began to calm down. She stopped crying a little while later, as she put the phone down, she was composed. She went to the doctor who was treating Mukti, "Doctor saab, Ab Mukti kaise hain?!" she asked. "She's still in a crtical condition! We really need the money to start the operation!" he replied. "Have you arranged the money?" he asked. Kasturi shook her head indicating no. "Please Jaldi keejiye! We have no time!" he said with pity and walked off into the I.C.U. where Mukti lay.
It was still 4.00am and no banks were open at this time. She was desperate, but she had to wait till next morning to get the money sorted. As the nurse came out from the room, Kasturi stopped her. "Suniye, can I go in and sit with her please?" asked Kasturi. "Sorry abhi nahi, she's still in a critical condition." Replied the nurse and walked off. Kasturi bit her lip. She looked at poor Mukti through the window, turned and walked towards the exit of the hospital.
Outside, she walked wherever her legs would carry her… the next thing she found herself in near a Mandir. She decided to seek divine inspiration to come up with a solution for her problem. As she walked up the steps, she placed her dupatta around her head and walked into the Mandir, praying. "Hain, Bhagwaan, Mukti ko kuch mat hone de na. Please usko bachalo". The Pundit ji had come out from the sacred area and gave some Prasad to Kasturi. She took it with gratitude and prayed for a bit longer. Kasturi ended up talking with Pundit ji about her problems. It was now 6.00am as she sat there in the Mandir worrying about Mukti and the money. The banks still would not open till 9.00am, she had to try then. She decided to get back to the hospital to see how Mukti was doing. As she left the Mandir, she did not notice a car pulling up. Getting out from the car was Devika Sabbarawaal. Intrigued at sight of Kasturi in the temple in this time, she walked in…
When she reached the hospital, she spoke to the doctor asking if she could now see Mukti. The doctor hesitated but looking at the state of Kasturi he pitied her and let her in. Indeed Kasturi was a terrible sight. She hadn't eaten or slept and there were dark circles underneath her bloodshot eyes.
Kasturi walked into the I.C.U room where Mukti rested. She was unconscious. Kasturi's eyes brimmed with tears as she remembered the good times with Mukti. She sat near Mukti's bed and took hold of Mukti's now cold hand rubbing in an attempt to warm it up. "Don't worry Mukti. I'm here, I'll take care of you! I'll get everything sorted. I promise" she whispered. She stared at Mukti's face. 'I wish I could've done something sooner than this' she thought desperately. She checked the time, it was now 8.30am; two hours had gone by so quickly. She decided to give one more try by calling Mukti's father, but she couldn't get through. Instead she left a message with Briju kaka who received the phone call.
Set-back: Kasturi is now off to banks trying to talk Bank managers into helping her. So far she has been unsuccessful… will this last prove lucky for her? "No!" replied the Bank manager. "We possibly can't give money out like that!" He said. Kasturis' heart fell. She couldn't get the money. "I'm sorry and I can really understand your pain but we can't help you" the Bank manager said in a final tone. Heartbroken Kasturi walked out of the Bank. It was now mid-morning and she still didn't have the money arranged. She was helpless. She didn't know what to do. She felt herself walking again… where to she did not know. She was tired, it was so evident on her face. The next thing she knew, she was at her college gates. For some strange reason she had come all the way to her college. She walked in and made her way to class. She didn't understand why she was doing this but she did. As she walked past a couple of students she heard them say, "Aareh Yaar, have you heard, the new professor is very strict yaar!! I saw him give one good earful to one of my friends!!!". Her friend who was listening, "Haan yaar! Even I heard! He even HATES late comers! He's now teaching the 11.15 class. Those poor first years…" replied.
Kasturi is on her way to class?!! God knows why she decided to come to college of all places in a situation like this! What will happen now? Kasturi made her way to class and walked in disrupting the whole class. The professor who was in the middle of teaching some hard law, glared at the girl who had entered his class room late. Kasturi made her way to her seat without even apologising! This fact even aggravated the professor even more.
Adi who was in the same class noticed it was Kasturi who had entered the room. Kritika who was sitting next to Adi and Shivani whispered "Woah! She looks a mess!". Shivani nodding replied, "Weren't those the same clothes she was wearing yesterday?!" she said wrinkling her nose in disgust! 'Indeed… something seemed to be bothering the girl…she didn't even apologise' thought Adi.
The professor dressed in black blared across the room, "EXCUSE ME!!!" he growled. Kasturi who was still in deep thought and worry jumped and realised where she was! She gasped! "Sir… sorry" she whispered. "TO HELL WITH YOUR SORRY!!! YOU COME IN LATE- BARGE INTO MY CLASS WITHOUT EVEN SAYING SORRY!!!" he growled. Kasturi looked down crestfallen, colour rising to her face. "Sir I'm really sorry sir, I didn't…" she said in small voice when he interrupted her "SHUTUP!!! AND SIT DOWN NOW!!" he yelled. Adi, Kritika and Shivani sniggered. Kasturi sat herself down at the back in front of Adi, Kritika and Shivani and as she did, the three gave her dirtiest looks they could each muster.
"So as I was saying, before we were RUDELY interrupted…" said the professor glaring at Kasturi. All she could do was look down at her desk. She didn't know what had made her do this. She didn't understand why she was in college. Right now she should be out there looking for some sort of arrangement for the money. "If the mother of the child goes to court requesting full custody of the child…" continued the professors deep voice draining Kasturi out of her thoughts. She wondered who he was. He looked really strict. He had dark, thick-framed glasses wearing a black suit that matched up to his cold eyes. Nothing seemed to escape those eyes as they combed the classroom for lazy non-workers. He spotted Kasturis' glazed eyes. He walked up to her table "May be YOU might be able to tell me the answer" he said in a dangerous voice. Kasturis' eyes widened in fear. She flinched. "Sir?" she said, her voice a mere whisper. "When a question is asked from me, you'll address me as *Professor Rizwaan* and stand up is that understood?" he continued in that same dangerous voice. Kasturi bit back tears as she stood up. "Sir… I mean Professor Rizwaan?" she choked. She fighting really hard to keep her voice levelled. "So you weren't listening?!!" He asked her, his voice rising. Kasturi shook her head… this was too much… any minute she would burst… too much had happened… and before he could say anything... "I'm sorry sir… excuse me" she said now tears pouring down her face and ran out of the class room, with her baby pink dupatta trailing behind her in the wind! Professor stood there in anger, no student had ever done that to him in his whole teaching career. He did not shout nor did he say anything to stop her. Instead he clenched his fists thinking that he would teach her a lesson another day. Adi looked well confused. He didn't understand what had gotten into Kasturi. This was very strange behaviour indeed, the next thing he heard was the class bell going off indicating end of lesson.
Kasturi runs out of class… classes have ended now because people are pouring out of class. It's lunch break now… Kasturi bawled her heart out in the college grounds as a group of girls walked up to her… all with the same intention- troubling poor Kasturi.
"Well well well… if it isn't Miss GAWAR" drawled a girls voice. Kasturi didn't even bother looking up as she knew it was Shivani. "Awww dekho people, she's crying! Couldn't take the shame of getting told off by Professor Rizwaan?!" she asked in mock concern. People surrounding Shivani laughed. Adi had now joined the circle of onlookers. He stood there with his arms crossed looking at what was happening with amusement. Kasturi still chose to ignore her. "Oooh if I'm not wrong, weren't those the same clothes you were wearing yesterday?" she asked in curiosity. Kasturi's eyes widened, through tears as she knew where this was leading… "Spent the night somewhere special? …. Ooops! I mean *someone* special?!" she asked evilly. Kasturi turned to look at her in shock and disgust.
"Ohhhh I'm sorry, did I touch a nerve?" Asked shivani in mock concern… But before Kasturi could reply somebody had spoken…
"Kasturi…?" Kasturi turned to where the voice had come from. The voice was as familiar she knew who it belonged to... there he stood Captain Abhishek Chauhan... in his navy suit looking dashing and handsome... Through tears Kasturi smiled... she didn't know what came over her at that point but she just pushed past shivani and Adi (almost knocking him over!) and ran to her fiance. She stopped right infront of him and looked up into his eyes... then before she could stop herself, she hugged him as hard as she could crying her heart out...
Adi's eyes had followed her all the way... he did nothing but stare at Kasturi...
Aaaaand that's where I leave it folks!! 😛 I hope you enjoyed that. Poor Kasturi had to go through sooooo much! Now an evil professor!! 😭 Nothing seems to be going right for her nowadays! How will she get past this...? Edited by Niki_18 - 17 years ago
