The vintage Ekta heroes are irreplaceable and you realize it once you see the mediocre male leads of current balaji shows like the Bhagya shows or Naagin series. I was never a fan of Bajaj because he was evil and just loving Prerna does not make up for all the vile and horrible things he did to Anurag and Prerna and their little kid Prem (which was tragic and I hope it does not get repeated this season). Also I feel, it is now impossible to recreated a Sujal or Angad in ITV, even Ekta has lost her golden touch when it comes to creating such outstanding and mass popular male leads who can outshine the idea of a "Female centric show'' .. The only thing I fear is, she might end up rebooting Kahin Toh Hoga or KYPH as Kasauti 2 is alreading fetching good TRPs...

Oh absolutely. I'll admit I am at least a little intrigued by Bajaj because his self-assertiveness reminded me shadows of her vintage heroes. But that ship has sailed. Let alone Sujal or Angad, can she even recreate an Anurag from Tere Liye? He was a perfectly positive hero but actually possessed layers and interesting dimensions. Both talent and writing are inadequate in all her new shows. I call her bland new style her KKB formula. Ever since KKB worked, she keeps making these bland shows over and over with boring characters and relentlessly evil side characters. It's unfortunate that her blandness works so she doesn't try to do better. Ugh even the idea of rebooting KTH without Rajeev...

Regarding KZK1, I didn't care for Anurag 1.0 or Bajaj 1.0. I really liked Ronit's acting so I was more attuned to him. I was only there for Prem and Prem/Mukti. Can you imagine her trying to recreate a character like Prem/Yudi now? Literal nightmare.

Yeah I think this has been stated over and over again. This show is disappointing on every level. Ekta has completely lost her mojo. Anyway, KYPH isn't being rebooted. Sony won't give her the rights. But KTH will be and it's an actual nightmare.

WOW you have watched Tere liye ? That show was an absolute gem and probably one of the best shows from Balaji telefilms, and i really think the show deserved more praise and a longer run given how subtle and real the lead pair and the development of their relation was. Anurag from Tere liye was the better Anurag, considering Anurag from Kasauti was also iconic, moreover as you have said that Anurag in Tere liye had such proper and justified character development that one would not help but fall for the flawed and yet redeemable qualities he had. I also liked Anupriya as Taani, and it is strange that both Harshad's coactresses from Balaji (Anupriya and Aditi) could not do anything better than the respective shows where as Harshad is still doing very good and indeed doing lead roles given how very less shows offer strong characterization for male leads. I am not a big fan of Bepannah but definitely a huge fan of Aditya Hooda.

KKB world is a mockery to audience's intelligence, even Kyu ki and Kahani had better story arcs compared to KKB but sadly these shows fetch TRPs so it is a sad state. Rebooting KTH without Rajeev will only prove that Ekta really does not care anymore, Kasauti reboot was a hint, god knows what disaster she will do in future. And no, she cannot recreate a Prem-Mukti, this Kasauti will not last longer to even witness a Prem of AnuPre..

Great Post ....

I'll talk about the Ekta's Vintage heroes as that is where my interest lies ...Sujal , Angad , Bajaj(Though I hate him) even Prem and Shiv ...cannot be repeated NEVER ....Infact today 98% shows have ML's based on their skeletons .

The reason Ekta could develop them was ....the concept of such heroes was new plus there was not competition back then so she could develop the characters and explore the arc . Now given how all are repeating them , it has become too stereotypical . The Vintage heroes had Rawness ....current lots seems to be too rehearsed.

Ekta has lost her Mojo , no not only in TV , but Webseries barring Romil-Juggal , Bose ....all seems satisfying the porternet viewers .

Thanks for mentioning "slack-jawed style" , as I found it to distracting .... felt like he was trying harder to bring swag ....which was not needed at all , it was there inherently ... so that kinda made it too IN YOUR FACE type ...

Oh yeah, I LOVED Tere Liye! Definitely one of the best shows from Balaji. Anurag from Tere Liye was significantly better written and better acted than Anurag from KZK. This is pretty much an established fact. Then again, HC is one of the best actors on Television. I have watched Bepannah for a while and he was great as usual in it. It's a good thing for Indian Television that actors like him are still acting. Otherwise, this youth-obsessed industry has pushed out all the capable actors and is stuck with some of the most mediocre talents.

Oh Ekta definitely doesn't care anymore. She literally recycles kidnapping and memory loss every other day in KKB. It's been 500 episodes and KDB hasn't moved an inch. But these are the shows that get ratings...so she keeps repeating the formula. Why put in effort when you can get the same results with 10% of the work? The last time she seemed at least somewhat interested in a project was during the first year of YHM.

You know I actually don't think Ekta's vintage heroes have become too stereotypical or common. Today's heroes actually follow Gul's pattern...which was based on Ekta's early heroes and M&B heroes. But not quite similar. They're instant noodles version of Ekta's heroes. Hence, easier to recreate. Ekta's heroes always had a certain complexity that Gul's heroes (except probably for Asad) never did and that is the popular formula today. Just write some random insufferable hero torturing heroine and we have a show. Ekta's heroes were nothing like this. I think she just doesn't care anymore. Building up complex love tracks, writing multi-dimensional characters takes too much time and energy, easier to just build up some half-baked romance with shallow characters and show kidnappings etc. And they get ratings so why bother? Ekta's shows are just boring and bland now without any interest dynamics or characterizations. Let alone heroes or heroines, all her shows have the most ridiculously evil villains now. Because it's easier to write one-dimensional clownish villains than build up potent antagonists. Trashiness can be good when it's entertaining, but it's really not entertaining anymore.

Yeah I did feel he was leaning a bit too into his standard Armaan style. He really doesn't need to do that.

Bepannah was not an extraordinary show, but I think Harshad was the most applauded actor in the show and his character did wonders, it was great to see him being popular in social media AGAIN after a long hiatus, i really dislike the fact that good actors like him have very few shows to choose from because most shows are supernatural shows, actors like Harshad just does not have enough quality shows offered.

YHM was really a nice show, and now it seems like Star plus do not respect their own baby, dragging something like this has no worth left, I do not know whether anyone watches that show anymore. Divyanka herself seems disinterested and is doing other web series opposite Rajeev. Ekta gave all her efforts and money in Naagin series and sadly the last season was not as successful as the first one, the trend was backward. Now her only trump card is Kasauti, thus she got KSG on board, he will evoke a lot of reactions and that will be good for the show's run eventually.

That's because all the Glory heros were based off off Bajaj and Sujal's characters. Bajaj was the original antihero and one of its first in Balaji Shows. Its obvious he reminds of the Glory Jolly good ol' days of Heros with layers. :D
