Prachi Desai aka Bani is back in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, amidst a mixed response from the other contestants. According to our sources, this week, the contestants would give two performances each, and it is believed that Prachi's comeback performances were lovely.

Prachi who hails from Gujarat did not get the thunderous votes during the Diwali week, and this ultimately led to her elimination. Her elimination not only upset the viewers, but Prachi also, who later went to Tirupati to seek blessings of God for her probable comeback thro' Wild Card. Now it looks like her prayers as well as her fans' wishes have been answered, and the Favorite Bahu of all, is back to light the stage on fire all over again..

Bani does a hat-trick

Prachi Desai, popularly known as Bani from Kasamh Se, won the Best Actress award for the third consecutive time at the 7th Indian Telly Awards.

Asked for her reaction, an excited Prachi says, "I was quite confident and was expecting it. Once again I came to know how popular I am among my fans. This award is very important to me because Bani has now become my second name."

< align=center marginWidth=0 marginHeight=0 src="googleDisplay.htm" Border=0 width=250 scrolling=no height=250></>

Prachi adds that with the serial taking a 5 year leap she will have to work even harder. "I'm ready to slog so that Kasamh Se becomes more famous after the leap."

The actress took the opportunity to thank Ekta and her fans. "Whatever I am today is because of Balaji and Ekta and of course my fans who again voted me as the best actress. Now I have to give my best again so that next year too I win this award."

What's happening in Kasamh Se as of now? "Well, the show has taken another five year leap so I have grown a little older. I'm enjoying it because my hair has not turned grey yet," jokes Prachi before adding, "I can't reveal the exciting twist but I'm sure the audience will like it."

Well, Prachi congratulations. And keep up the good work.

Found an article in the Mid-day. It seems like Ekta Kapoor and Sandip Sikand have patched up... now I hope he returns to Balaji and takes KS where it started... I know its wishful thinking but theres no harm hoping right ;)

Spotted

thaw tha thaiya: Ekta Kapoor

Ekta Kapoor and her frenemy Sandiip Sikcand were caught breaking bread together at J W Marriott on Friday night. Their presence made plenty of heads turn and in case if you are wondering what the topic of conversation was, here's the gup.

A week earlier Ekta had acknowledged Sandiip's contribution to Balaji at the Indian Telly Awards while accepting an award. So the two apparently decided to catch up with each other. We're guessing the icy cold vibes between Balaji's head honcho and ex-creative head have been thawing. What next? As they say anything is possible in B-Town! Yehi hai kahaani ghar ghar ki.

Time to tell

The wild card may have enabled Ekta Kapoor's blue-eyed girl Prachi Desai (Bani of Kasamh Se) to be back in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

But buzz from the Sony show sets is that Prachi has gone 'wild' in her ways literally. She has been not committing her time for rehearsals to the production house, Synergy Communications.

The production house co-ordinates the contestant's rehearsal time daily to accommodate them in one hall.

But Prachi is adamant about getting her own time for the rehearsals. For now, she has settled for another place but is squabbling to get back her hall of fame at the timing she wants.

Calmsutra!

When at Balaji, watch your temper. The production house has recently sacked trusted director Anil Kumar, reportedly for being ill-tempered

Ekta Kapoor

Ekta Kapoor's trusted lieutenant, director Anil Kumar, has been shown the door. Anil has directed many serials at Balaji - Kkusum, Kasamh Se, Kavyanjali, Kahiin To Hoga, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. He even directed Ekta's film Kuch Toh Hai. At the time of his ouster, he was directing Kayamath.

Many actors have been all praise for Anil in the past. Aamna Shariff and Rohit Bakshi, in particular. Rohit who played Piyush in KTH gave a lot of credit to Anil for the success of Kahiin To Hoga (KTH). He had said, "The treatment of KTH is vastly different. Full marks to our director Anil Kumar. He is young and you can make out when he directs, that he knows what young love is all about. If an elderly director had been in his shoes, I don't think the results would be better."

Anil says that he got the shock of his life when Doris (Creative Head, Kayamath) called him to the sets 10 days ago and told him that he should not report for shooting from the next day. "I was flabbergasted. I think that I am not required in Balaji anymore," Anil adds.

Anil refuses to tell us what led to his dismissal from Balaji Telefilms. "I don't want to talk about it. I am looking forward to doing films and serials for other production houses now," Anil quips.

We then called up Doris. She said, "That is the company's decision. I was told to tell him and I did just what I was told."

On making further enquires, we learnt that Anil had become a problem for the production unit. Balaji's head honcho Ekta Kapoor had no issues with him, but the production unit was finding it difficult to get along with him.

Anil Kumar

A Balaji official confirmed, "The production unit had too many issues with Anil. That is why he was asked to leave. He spoke very rudely with production unit, especially with Umeshji who heads production in Mumbai. Umeshji has been with the company for 14 years. Nobody treats him with disrespect. There has to be some protocol at work. Since the past few weeks, Anil used to lose his temper very often. Who knows, he might return if he decides to keep his mood and temper in check."

When contacted, Ekta simply said, "I personally like Anil's work. He is a nice technician. I think he is just a bit unwell and has taken a break."

Hey

Pawan Shankar's been missing from the small screen for quite a while now.

But it doesn't seem like the actor is in any hurry to come on television anymore. It seems like the long absence from TV has resulted in not one but two films for Pawan. He'll soon be seen as a young lead in the comedy film Mr Bhatti on Chhutti alongside Anupam Kher and also doing a central role in an issue based film. Well, some guys sure have all the luck!

Feature: Playing with fire

Recently, on Kahaani sets, Saakshi Tanwar's (Parvati) pallu accidentally caught fire while shooting for a sequence. We asked some telly-actresses how difficult it is to deal with such fire sequences which are wrought with risk.

Panchi Bora (Prachi, Kayamath)
"It's very scary indeed. We had done a sequence in which I had to save Ayesha (Sanjeeda) from fire. I was very nervous and ended up bruising my hand. Thankfully, our stunt master came to the rescue. But I was petrified for almost a week after that."

Arunima Sharma (Ranoo, Kasamh Se)

"In Kasamh Se I had a scene with Roshni where I am caught in fire. The sequence was so long that my specs started heating up. I was not able to tolerate it and fainted on the sets in spite of precautions taken by the production house. And from that day onwards I have told to them to take extra precaution."

Shubhangi Atre (Kasturi, Kasturi)

"There are many fire sequences in Kasturi and now I'm used to it but earlier I used to be get very scared. I remember one scene where I was getting married to Robbie and the gathbandhan falls into the holy fire. One of my co-actors removed that to avoid anything untoward but she was not able to handle the heat and accidentally put it on my face. It was really horrifying. Now there are stunt masters who take extra precautions after that incident."

Reshmii Ghosh (Bhoomi, Kyunki)

"There was one sequence where, in anger, Bhoomi burns her room but luckily no accident took place. As for the precaution purpose there were fire extinguishers but I was ok."

    Prachi Desai
Sony TV's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is in its most exciting leg. In its final stages, the competition is getting tougher by the day and the remaining contestants are fighting tooth-and-nail to reach that coveted position.

However, Prachi Desai, who re-entered the show via the wild-card entry, is one contestant who is playing it on her own terms. For a number that required her to wear cabaret costume, she refused to wear it as she was not comfortable with it.

Our source says, "While all other contestants were pretty comfortable wearing revealing costumes, Prachi had a problem and she simply refused to wear the cabaret costume.

We tried to convince her that we would give her fish net stockings if she were so uncomfortable. Initially Prachi had no problems but on the day of the final shoot she put her foot down.

However, it did backfired because the judges had some objection to her costume and passed snide comments. She has been doing this as she wants to protect her image of a bahu; another reason she was uncomfortable wearing skimpy clothes was the presence of her parents on the sets."

Prachi justifies her stand and says, "Every week we have different themes and this time it was the cabaret theme but I wore 'normal' clothes.

Frankly, I am a not comfortable wearing revealing outfits. Everyone has the right to wear what he or she is comfortable in. If I am uncomfortable wearing these costumes then it will show in my performance."

Speaking about the judges' reaction, she says, "I don't know what prompted their remark. But as I said, my idea was to wear a costume that I am comfortable in. It has got nothing to do with my parents' presence on the show, it's entirely my decision not to wear certain clothes."

As mean as mean can be
    Shameem Khan
    Tuesday, December 11, 2007 23:59 IST

Reel vamps get honest and reveal their wickedest real life deed to Shameem Khan

    Aanchal Dwivedi:
I have done loads of evil things. But the worst thing I did was when I lied to my brothers that I had sent them rakhis. They kept on waiting for it and were heartbroken when they didn't receive it.

It was only later that I confessed my lie to them. It made me feel really guilty for being so mean.

    Suvarna Jha:
This was a few years back while I was in college. My dad had given me his credit card in the hope that I would use it wisely. It was my sister's birthday a few days later. We both invited a lot of friends and had a huge party at one of the most happening clubs in Delhi. Obviously, we were presented with a huge bill, which I paid off with my dad's credit card.

You can imagine his state when he received the statement. He was hurt and shocked. To add insult to injury, I gave him a pair of scissors to destroy the card. Obviously, he didn't do that. But I sure got a piece of his mind, which I will never forget to date. It's something I still feel guilty about.

    Ashwini Kalsekar:
This happened on the sets of 'Kasamh Se' (Zee). Seemaji (Bhargav) and I had got together in Sudhaji's (Shivpuri) make-up van and were fooling with her white wig. Suddenly, we were struck with an idea. We called newcomer Dilkhush (plays my daughter Anu in the show) inside the van and told her that Sudhaji was possessed. Sudhaji started making all kinds of scary sounds.

The poor girl was frozen and was in tears. It's only when Sudhaji's wig gave away that the truth was out. It was a performance of a lifetime.

    Kaamya Punjabi:
I played a mean prank on Divyanka Tripathi on the sets of 'Banoo Main Teri Dulhann' (Zee). She is very possessive about her things; be it her lipstick, bag or mobile phone. So Sharad Malhotra and I hatched a plan. He kept her busy on the sets while I hid her car.

Her driver, on my instructions, told Divyanka that her car had been stolen. She was in tears. She even went on the road looking for it. It was finally when she called the cops that I let out the secret to her. She was sporting enough to take it in her stride.
