Jai Walia in Golmaal Returns!

Ram Kapoor, popular as Jai Walia from Kasamh Se, will be doing a cameo in Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns. But the interesting part is he will be playing the same character of Jai Walia in the film and the leading lady Kareena Kapoor will be shown as a big fan of him.

Kareena is shown as a wife who is very fond of K serials and who believes that her husband Ajay Devgan also cheats her like the characters on the television show.

On his role, Ram says, "It's great to be the part of this laughter riot. I have seen Golmaal and liked the role of Tushaar Kapoor and Ajay Devgan. Rohit Shetty came with this idea of including Jai Walia from Kasamh Se for a few minutes. The reason he came to me was because Kareena's name in the movie is Ekta and Ekta Kapoor and I have good relationship."

Ram has only scene in the film and it is with Ajay Devgan. "The scene is a very comic one shot in a famous bar in Goa in which Ajay is very frustrated with his wife who watches only K-serials."

Asked about the new Bani - Gurdeep Kohli, he says, "It will take time for her to be recognized as Bani but she is a good actress no doubt."
Apart from Kasamh Se and Golmaal Returns, Ram is busy with his new role of Dhritrashtra in Ekta Kapoor's Mahabharata. If sources are to be believed that, he will also make a short re-entry in Kyunki.

RONIT OUSTED!!
[13 May 2008]

Ronit Roy, the blue- eyed boy of Ekta Kapoor who has been faithful to her through thick and thin, has been ousted from the Star Parivaar Awards to be held on May 17.

The main reason behind the ouster is his demand of Rs 10 lakhs for performing on the occasion. Balaji's officials thought it to be too much and decided to replace him by some other actor to perform in his place.

Though Ekta Kapoor has now roped in Shalin Bhanot ( Madan of Sangam) to perform on Don's number 'Main Hoon Don' at the awards function, the czarina is said to be mighty upset with Ronit for refusing to do the act at the last moment. According to Balaji sources, initially Ronit had given his assent to perform on Don's number and it was only later that he quoted the figure of Rs 10 lakhs, which was not acceptable to them and they opted for his replacement.

Prachi Desai Goes Glam For Bollywood

Cute, petite and vivacious TV actress Prachi Desai, who is better known as Bani of Kasamh Se, is all set to shed her typical Indian girl image in her first film Rock On opposite director-turned-actor Farhan Akhtar.

"It would take a few minutes for you to recognise me in the movie," Prachi gushed with excitement while speaking to IANS on phone from Mumbai.

She says the movie, which also marks the directorial debut of Abhishek Kapoor, would greatly help her in casting off the image of a sari clad, ideal bahu or daughter-in-law.

"It's really going to be different! It is a glamorised role of a modern college going girl and absolutely different from what I portrayed in Kasamh Se."

Although it is her debut film, she is not at all apprehensive of being cast opposite someone like Farhan, who directed hit films like Dil Chahta Hai and Don - The Chase Begins.

"I know Farhan is a great director and this urged me to work even harder for the film. And, yes, working with a director-turned-actor was an altogether different experience for me. I feel he is a fantastic actor."

On being asked to share her experience of working in a film after her stint with the small screen, she said: "It's totally different from shooting for a TV serial where you are constantly time-lined to work for a particular number of hours in a day and that too under a lot of pressure.

"In movies, it isn't so. One gets much more time to think about each shot and as a result your takes are automatically better," she maintained.

So how was the transition from being a lead actress in a television serial to being one in a movie?

"The transition has been really fast for me. It was like a dream come true. I worked really hard in my serial and the reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. It is a dream for most people, and I am glad I realised it," said Prachi, who walked away with the Jhalak Dikhla Jaa title.

Prachi is extremely happy with the way things are shaping up for her. She has also recently been offered a role in Abbas-Mustan's Life Partner.

She will be sharing screen space with actors like Fardeen Khan, Govinda, Tusshar Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza.

"Yes, I am doing the movie, but I cannot divulge any details about the role at the moment," she said.

According to media reports, she has stepped into actress Bipasha Basu's shoes for the same role. However, Prachi said she was unaware of any such information.

Ronit Roy's Maha sacrifice

Ronit Roy is working very hard for his role of Bhishma in Mahabharat. Apart from exercising everyday he is avoiding his favourite food like rice and fish. Since Ronit was busy in shooting we spoke to Neelam Roy about his diet and exercise regime.

"Both of us are on a weight loss programme so we have to take care of our eating habits. We love home made food so I do not give him too much sweet. I try and give him fat free or low calorie dishes so he does not eat food made up of butter and consume less oil. Moreover, I make sure he carries his lunch on sets everyday or send him the lunch. My mother in law also asks him to have at least toast and juice in the morning," reveals Neelam.

She however adds, "We can only put restrictions when we are on holidays otherwise he is very busy with his schedule. But now since he is on a weight loss mission he himself wakes up and has tea before he leaves home. He generally has salads in lunch or I give him jawar roti, dal and sabji. Rice is not definitely not a part of his food. When we prepare biryani he does not combine it with roti. He likes Chinese a lot, because it is very light food."

Neelam is thankful that food is a not a focal point for Ronit. "We like to dine together as he gets very less time and it is a way of giving company to each other," says Neelam.

About his gym schedule, Neelam says, "There are no fixed hours as such but he manages to go for an hour everyday. He rehearses for Mahabharat nearly 7 hours and then goes for his serial shoot so the cardio part of training is taken care of. He was very serious during Jhalak but now he is taking it a little easy. At least he is eating on time."

The shooting for Mahabharat begins on May 28. Some part has already been shot in Mumbai. The show will go on air in August.

In Rock On I play a sophisticated, town girl" - Prachi Desai source: indiafm

By Nikhil Ramsubramaniam, May 15, 2008 - 16:23 IST

The first thing that strikes you when you speak to her over the phone is her child-like voice. She sounds just like any college going teenager; bubbly and full of life. But if you talk about experience, she has indeed lots to boast of. We are talking about Prachi Desai whose portrayal of Bani in television soap Kasamh Se has made her a household name. Prachi is all set to make the big jump from the small screen to the big screen with her maiden film Rock On. Bollywood Hungama got chatting with the cheerful actress who truly believes that life is rocking.

The first look of your debut film Rock On is out. How do you feel?
(Smiles) It feels amazing. I haven't tried anything new in the last two years so this is something which I am really looking forward to.

The poster gives an impression that it's an all guys film. Is it true?
Hmm…It is, to some extent as the film is about a rock band consisting of these 4 guys. The girls are involved but they are not a part of the band, hence you get the impression that it's an all guys film

What is your character in the film?
She is a modern girl from Bombay. She is not like Bani (laughs) but she is equally sweet. She is quite a sophisticated, town girl. I am paired opposite Farhan in the film.

My character in Rock On is that of a sophisticated, town girl. She is not like Bani (laughs) but she is equally sweet.
How has it been working with an actor turned director (Abhishek Kapoor) and a director turned actor (Farhan Akhtar)?
You said it. It was indeed an amazing experience. I was so surprised when I saw Farhan acting because nobody knew that he is such a fabulous actor. His directorial skills…well everyone is aware about but his acting talent is going to take a lot of people by surprise. He is equally good as an actor. I learnt a lot of new things from Abhishek as well so it was a great experience

Describe your first and last day of shooting?
I was a little scared on the first day of shoot (smiles)…didn't quite know what to expect. But it was a lot of fun because Farhan is a really jolly fellow and even the director Abhishek is a chilled out guy. The last day was the best day of the whole shoot. We were shooting in Alibaug for a day. There was a swimming pool and after the shoot everybody was thrown into the pool including me (smiles) and I can't swim. I somehow saved my life.

What similarities or differences do you find shooting for a T.V. show and a Bollywood film?
Hmmmm… at the end of the day it's shooting. The difference would be in terms of time taken and maybe the perfection level. In T.V. we are used to it since we know our characters really well so we don't take much time. Plus there is a time limit in T.V. At times you have to complete 10 scenes in one day. But in films we have a lot more time on our hands, so you have time to think about how you want to do a particular scene. So I would say it's more chilled out.

From the simple Bani to a girl who is hanging out with a bunch of rockers, must be quite a shock for your viewers?
Yeah absolutely (laughs)….and I hope they take the shock in the right way.

Since the film is about a rock band, how has the music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy evolved?
Oh it's fantastic. The music sounds so real; you will feel like you are attending a rock concert in a college.

The music of Rock On sounds so real; you will feel like you are attending a rock concert in a college.
So are you into rock music in real life….What music do you like?
No I am totally into Hindi filmy music.

Since you were the baby on the sets, did anyone pull a prank on you?
Thankfully no!!( Smiles). We had a great time shooting since apart from the guys we also had our girly gang consisting of Shahana Goswami, Koel Purie, Nicolette and myself. We had a blast together.

You won the dancing reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa... So do you get to wear your dancing shoes for Rock On?
(Laughs) Luckily no…I don't have any dance numbers in the film.

The film's tagline says 'Live your Dream'… What is your Motto in life?
That's my motto as well- 'Live your Dream'. I have lived my dream. I have always wanted to be an actor and have worked very hard for it. So thank god I've also been really lucky

When is the music likely to release?
The music should release in a few days now since the posters are already out.

So what else do you have apart from Rock On
Apart from Rock On, I am doing Abbas-Mustan's home production Life Partner which is directed by Rumi Jaffrey. However it's too early to talk about it now.

So how are you planning to shuffle your time between T.V. and films?
It's really tough doing both T.V. and films at the same time. Hence, I am not doing T.V. any more. I somehow managed it during Rock On but your mind gets diverted which is not good.

Now that you are all set to make a grand entry in the big bad world of Bollywood, what message do you have for all your fans who have supported you on T.V. all these years?
What do I say? I am really nervous about Rock On. I wanna request everyone to come and watch Rock On. It's a great film and I am sure everyone will enjoy it, especially the youngsters.
