Ekta Kapoor's party Friday night was buzzing.

Fun, fun and more fun. The entire TV gang was there apart from some other friends. The bash was basically to celebrate her best pals' weddings Nivedita and Yadunath, Anupam and Jol. Also, to celebrate Prachi Desai's victory in the recent reality dance show. Right from brothers Ronit and Rohit Roy, Rajev and Rakeshh Pauul to the low-profile Sudha Chandran, everyone was seen mingling with each other.

Rakshanda Khan, Riva Bubber, Chetan Hansraj, Urvashi Dholakia were enjoying themselves. Buddies Aakash Deep Saigal and Shabir Ahluwalia (dressed like a cowboy) were catching up. They surely had a long working day, but they were in total party mood. Foodie Sandiip Sikcand was enjoying the elaborate fare giving his pals a few tips. Gauri and Hiten Tejwani, Mannish and Poonam Goel, Vandana Sajnani and Rajesh Khattar, Rushali and Bobby Arora were present among many others. Nisha Jamwal and hubby Jammy, Kamlesh Hemdev and wife Kaushika, Kaykashan Patel, Satish Reddy, Bunty Walia were also present. Meet brothers Manmeet and Harmeet came in together. Manmeet's very pregnant wife Karishma, who's due in two weeks, was glowing.

Ekta Kapoor's Krishna Bungalow was the venue of the bash she had thrown to celebrate the 'wonderful bliss of marital reunion' of two of her buddies, Nivedita Basu with Yadunath and Anupam with Jol. There was a third reason why Ekta wanted buddies to get together, it was to celebrate the victory of her blue-eyed girl, Prachi Desai. The three-in-one bash had the who's who of the tellyville.

The first one to walk in were tele-viewers favourite couple Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan followed by Roy brothers Rohit and Ronit.

Surprisingly, the filmi brigade stayed away from the party except Bunty Walia and Dharam Oberoi, CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions. Karan Johar, bro Tusshar Kapoor, Neelam, Urmila Matondkar were conspicuous by their absence.

Looked like Rucha Gujarati has patched up with Ekta for she walked in with a flourish. Ekta herself was in a zippy and spirited mood, she hit the dance floor the moment she walked. She was dragging her buddies on the dance floor especially Prachi Desai. Jay Bhanushali, the other finalist of Jhalak…2 was also in his element and rocked the dance floor.

Ekta's new blue-eyed boy Aamir Ali was swinging with girlfriend Sanjeeda Sheikh - could they be rehearsing for the finals of Nach Baliye 3! Surprisingly her regular cronies, Ram Kapoor, Gautami Gadgil, Cezanne Khan and Sakshi Tanwar among others, either did not come to the party or left unnoticed! Ronit Roy kept to himself in one corner before Ekta dragged him to the dance floor.

Mika Singh and Shabbir Aluwalia rocked the party too. Parvin Dabas came with girlfriend Preeti Jhangiani. Amit Sareen, Vineesha Arora, Apoorva Agnihotri and Shilpa Saklani came together and stuck to each other throughout. The party which started at 11 pm rocked till the wee hours.

It's that time of the year again when the otherwise buzzing film studios come to a grinding halt. Most of our Bolly janta has worked round-the-year, earned their fair share of moolah, fame, bouquets, brickbats (too) and are now heading out for a holiday. This year the popular destination is unarguably Goa. It's probably Bollywood's very own festival that has just kick-started, as the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and soap queen Ekta Kapoor have already landed with their entourage.

So, what makes Goa the fave party destination? Karan Johar, who left for Goa on Saturday morning, says, "I'm heading to Goa as most of my close friends are going to be there. Shah Rukh and his family are already there. Actually, most places seem to be fun when you have friends with you." He further adds, "I definitely like the energy of the place and you can do your own thing."

Talking about activities, Karan and good friend Shah Rukh Khan will not be venturing out that often. SRK is a complete homebody and prefers to stay indoors and spend time with friends over food and board games. A source close to Khan says, "Shah Rukh has board games for all occasions. He has packed a few for our stay at Goa." Other actors who're holidaying in Goa include Arjun Rampal, wife Mehr Jessia with daughters Mahikaa and Myra, and Jackie Shroff.

Ekta Kapoor, who usually heads to Thailand, has also taken her bunch of fave actors - Prachi Desai, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Suvarna Jha, Preeti Amin, Naman Shaw from the Balaji stable along. She says, "Yes, I'm in Goa for my holidays." Prachi Desai, who has taken a break post Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, adds: "Goa is always funs. A few of my Balaji friends and even Ekta is here. We all met over dinner last night."

Karan Johar

Even a few couples who participated in the recently-concluded Nach Baliye 3 have parked themselves at secluded and not-so-popular beaches there. Pooja Bedi, who is with her children Aalia and Omar, says, "I love the tranquil beaches and I can stroll around in my bikini without any one clicking away." She adds, "Kavita Kaushik and Karan Grover are joining us today."

Varun Badola

Achint Kaur is fabulous in Virruddh, she is one actress we have to watch out for. She has completely re-defined herself in the show. I have seen her evolve as an actress over the last decade and her performance in the show is totally unexpected. I am yet to come across a vamp with a difference and with such vulnerability. She gets into the skin of the character perfectly.

Apara Mehta

Ronit Roy (in Kyunki and Kasauti) and Sushant Singh (Virruddh) are to watch out for in the coming year. Whenever I am switching channels and catch a glimpse of either, I end up watching the show. I have worked with Ronit and know how well he works. They are very promising and natural actors. They will be around for a long time.

Renuka Shahane

Sara Khan (Saadhna in Bidaai) is a face to watch out for. She is a natural, not over made-up and very believable. I am sure she can pull off any role with ease. Sakshi Tanwar is brilliant but an under-rated actress. I hope she takes up another show.

Suchitra Pillai

Vinod Khanna on television is someone to watch out for. He is a very powerful actor and it's interesting to watch how he handles television. He had this mysterious aura as a film star that makes him fascinating to observe on television.

Chetan Hansraj

Sanjeeda Sheikh is the face to watch out for in the coming year. She has an attractive personality and has amazing dancing skills. With the Nach Baliye 3 crown in her kitty, she has garnered enormous popularity. She should take up more challenging roles.

Smriti Irani

Among actresses, my vote goes to Gauri Nirgudkar who plays Vrinda in Mere Apne. She's got all the features that an actor should have. In the midst of so many senior artistes, she holds her own. She acts out romantic, comic, tragic roles with equal poise. She's a complete package and I'm so proud she's part of my show.

Among actors, I'll vote for Siddharth Makkar who's playing Shankar in Mere Apne in which we've given him a hard aggressive look. He manages to portray both emotional as well as aggressive hard sides with ease.

Ram Kapoor

I have watched Pallavi Subhash's performance in Karam Apna Apna, and am working with her in Kasamh Se. She is a very promising actress, with subtle performance. She is also very professional. She knows what she is doing and is a fine actress.

What we saw last time...............

An look at happening on Telly in 2007.

KASAMH SE

Ronit Roy's entry in the show, with a new look as Aparajit Deb, propelled the show to dizzying heights. Prachi Desai and Ram Kapoor are still going great guns as a pair.

KYUNKI SAAS BHI KABHI BAHU THI

Viewers stayed glued to Balaji Telefilms' flagship show and saw Smriti Irani's exit as Tulsi with Gautami Gadgil stepping into her shoes. With new additions in the Virani family and unending twists to the tale, the show is still a winner.The other K serial, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, too took an 18-yearleap with Sakshi Tanwar going for a major image makeover that made Parvati lovers sit up and take notice of the show. Aroona Irani was introduced into the show playing the central character of Narayani Devi. Kiran Karmarkar (the original Om) also came back to the family after much drama. So in all, it was a year of new entries and comebacks for many characters.

BANOO MAIN TERI DULHANN

Newcomer Divyanka Tripathi, to worsen the odds, was on a timeslot that does not even gather TRPs. But the emotional drama and Divyanka's tour de force performance made Dulhann one of the most loved and watched serial of the year. Atta girl! A classic example of the underdog reaching the top.

What we saw last time

NACH BALIYE 3

Controversy dogged this dance-reality show from the beginning to the grand finale. To begin with, there were no 'A'-listers on the show. Then a rumour did the rounds that item girl Rakhi Sawant had signed the dotted line, only if she lasts up to the semi-finals. When Aamir-Sanjeeda finally won the crown, Rakhi went berserk and alleged that the results were rigged. The channel demanded an unconditional apology from Rakhi for maligning their channel.

KBC3

SRK taking over KBC dominated the front pages of every newspaper. After the success of Don, Shah Rukh Khan once again won the hearts of the Indian public. And then he topped it with Chak De and Om Shanti Om. But that's another story.

JHALAK 2

Prachi Desai re-entered the show with a so-called 'wild card' entry, although there was no such provision after the eviction. She won it too, beating the super dancer Sandhya Mridul.
The whole country became obsessed with singing, singers, singers who cry, and judges who give advice. India emerged with its own genre of music in 2007 - singers who are your guy-next-door. Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa was the most talked about music show in the country. Star too followed suit with their Voice of India. Indian Idol (Sony TV) tried to get its share of viewers. Wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king (the viewer)?

Prachi Desai, the 19 year old who has become the talk of the town these days, all thanks to her Jhalak Dikhla Jaa win has become quite a star much prior to her entry in films!

If you manage to get through to Prachi these days it's quite an achievement, as the famous Bani of Kasam Se is apparently terribly busy, so much so that she has no time to breathe! After our multiple attempts to reach Prachi on phone failed, we had to settle down for her mother for an interview instead! (Isn't that a starry trait to begin with? To not to entertain telephonics and make your mothers deal with the media instead? eg – Ayesha Takia, Amrita Rao... Never mind!)

We complained auntiji (as Prachi's mum is fondly called) of Prachi acting starry and the mother further surprised us with her 'bragging' reply. "I don't think Prachi considers herself as a star post Jhalak . She had gathered fame and stardom much before Jhalak , all thanks to her famous TV show ' Kasam Se' ", said the confident mum. "She is extremely happy and couldn't have asked for more adulation", added she.

All set to enter the big bad world of Bollywood, how far is mommy dearest comfortable with Prachi doing bold roles, we probe. "I will be accompanying Prachi everywhere she goes. I was a little scared of letting her act in TV serials but after she has done that I've realised that only those girls who are overtly ambitious fall into the trap of sleazy filmmakers. Some girls tend to compromise on their morals for getting the roles they dream of but Prachi is not like that so there are no chances of her being exploited", retaliated the conservative mother.

We also grilled Prachi's extremely sweet mom on her daughter's dream debut ' Rock On ' with Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal. "You will see Prachi in a completely different avatar in this film. I can't divulge many details as we've been asked to not talk about it by Farhan. All I can say is Prachi will cut her hair in the film and will be dressed casually. She is certainly not doing a Priyanka Chopra as you won't see her in a complete western image either. She is extremely happy to work with Farhan. She'd love to work with Hrithik and John too."

How does Prachi react to the talks revolving around her resemblance to Sonam and Preity Zinta? "Yes, Prachi looks a lot like Sonam. Even when I used to see Saawariya teasers I used to mistake Sonam for Prachi! Both girls are quite alike as far as their nature is concerned too. Sonam loves to smile and so does Prachi. As far as Preity is concerned, she is one of the favourite stars of Prachi so it would be a huge compliment for my daughter to being compared to her. Prachi is indeed bubbly and talkative like Preity. Prachi feels great to be compared to these actresses."

So is Ekta Kapoor the real hero behind Prachi's win? "Saying that would be an insult of my daughter's hard work! Why should anyone take her credit away and give it to Ekta? It's extremely disheartening. Jeetandraji barely gave Prachi 10 on 10 in Jhalak . Prachi feels sad because of this allegation but tells me that when people are not happy with your win they start blaming the show and judges, accusing them to be partial and biased. The way it is with Abhishek Bachchan. People will never appreciate his hard work and talent but would rather hold his father responsible for his success!"

Point taken auntyji, but is the mother keeping a close eye on her daughter's love life?
"She is just 19! She shares a professional relationship with her colleagues, also with her Jhalak partner Deepak. There is nothing brewing between them. Prachi is not in touch with her Mithibai (college) friends either", says the proud mother.

Finally we throw a googly at the smart mother by asking her if her honest daughter would ever admit that her competitor Sandhya was a better dancer? "Prachi doesn't consider Sandhya as a better dancer", concludes the mother sounding extremely confident.

Don't know about Prachi's success in films but we are pretty sure of Prachi's mum being the most successful and well spoken star mother! 'Rock on' to that...

Gautami Gadgil (Tulsi of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) was in for a rude shock on New Year's Eve. The actress went to straighten her hair at a well-known salon on December 28, 2007 just before New Year's Eve. However, the hairdressers at the salon used more chemicals than was actually required to straighten Gautami's hair. As a result, the actress' hair was burnt and she had no choice but to cut her hair short. She now sports a bob cut.

Gautami got a few days break like everyone at Balaji Telefilms to usher in the New Year in Goa. Gautami was quite enthusiastic about the holiday and decided to straighten her hair at a salon at Kemp's Corner. After she got her straightened, she went to Goa with her husband Ram Kapoor and daughter Sia. She only realised that something was terribly wrong with her hair when she came back to town on January 2.

Gautami says, "I was very happy for the few days off that I got from Balaji for New Year. As I was enthusiastic about the break, I went to a beauty salon close to my house to straighten my hair. I did not bother to wash my hair for three days when I was in Goa as it's a cumbersome process. Also, I wanted to spend as much time as I could with my daughter Sia. Moreover, my straightened hair was just perfect for the party mood. We partied like mad in Goa and returned to Mumbai on January 2. On that particular night, I washed my hair and realised that I could not comb my hair as it was getting stuck and was terribly entangled."

Realising that something was terribly wrong, Gautami called up her personal hairdresser Ryan who runs a salon, Muaah at Bandra.

"Ryan immediately came to my rescue and discovered that my hair was completely burnt. I was shocked when he told that the only way out is to cut my hair short. Ryan cut my hair by 4-5 inches on January 3 after which I went for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi's shooting. To my dismay, I realised that my problems were not over as I still had burnt hair. Ryan again told me that I need to cut my hair further," adds Gautami.

Finally, the actress got another haircut on January 6 where Ryan cut her hair by about 10 inches. Gautami says, "My hair was seven inches below my shoulders and now it's above my shoulders. I was really sad as I am quite particular about my hair."

How did Gautami's husband, Ram react to her new hairstyle? "He was definitely upset, but he understood that the only way to save my hair from further damage was to cut it short," she says.

Apparently, the hairdresser of Kyunki... is having a tough time fixing Tulsi's wig on Gautami's new hairdo. Gautami laughs it off. She says, "This is not true at all. The wig takes the usual time."

We asked Gautami to name the salon but she politely declined to give out the name. When asked if she is suing the salon in question, Gautami says, "To err is human. I have straightened my hair several times, but I have never come across such a mishap. It is quite a well-known salon in the city. After the mishap, they have apologised to me a thousand times. So, I don't want to name the salon and spoil their reputation. But, I am thankful to my personal hairdresser Ryan who did not charge a single penny and made my hair look great even after the disaster."

Gautami's hair dresser, Ryan D'Rozario says, "While straightening her hair, they overdid it. So, we had to get rid of those burnt ends by cutting off her hair. But the good part is that she is looking very different now."

Prachi Desai will feature in Aadesh Shrivastav's music video, but only if Ekta Kapoor gives her the green signal

Prachi Desai, who recently won the celebrity dance competition Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa wants to take her newly found dancing talent to the next level.

The actress will now groove with Aadesh Shrivastava for a video in his new album Beyond Boundaries.

The Kasamh Se actresses' debut music video will be shot shortly.

A source adds, "The two met on the sets of Jhalak. Aadesh was planning his album back then and had spoken about it to the contestants.

After he was eliminated — early on during the show — he stayed in contact with Prachi. After she won the dance show, he approached her with the offer to feature in his video. And she agreed."

The song has an 'Indian' feel to it and is perfect for Prachi as it is totally in sync with the character that she is best known for — the dutiful bahu, Bani.

Aadesh and Prachi met last week to discuss the details for the video. But they are both shy about talking about it, as Prachi still has to get Ekta's blessings (read nod) for this new assignment.

Ekta might not be keen to let her blue-eyed-girl perform for a music video," concludes the source.
Aadesh, when asked if he'd signed Prachi for the video for Kunj Gali Mein Radha Baithi declined, "Talks are on but I am not sure about her just as yet. Nothing is finalised. My two videos are on the air currently and I plan to shoot my third one very shortly."

Prachi's mom was non-commital too, "I am not in a position to confirm or deny anything. It's better you check with Prachi." But she remained unavailable for comment.
