Apparently, the actor was instrumental in getting his wife the role of Tulsi in 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'
After months of speculation over who would replace Smriti Z Iraani as Tulsi in Balaji's 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi bahu Thi' (Star Plus), actor Gautami Gadgil, wife of actor Ram Kapoor, has finally bagged the role.
It may be mentioned that there were two other strong contenders for this role—actors Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon. Both of them, who also happen to be good friends, were keen to essay the epic character. The two also happen to be more experienced than Gautami.
However, Poonam and Padmini were unaware of this decision taken by Balaji Telefilms and apparently weren't informed that they had been ruled out to play Tulsi in place of Gautami.
When contacted Poonam said, "It's news to me that Balaji has finally chosen Gautami for the role. I was unaware of this." She adds, "I never refused the show. I was given CDs of the various episodes of the serial to learn more about the character as I hadn't seen much of it. We did have two to three meetings to talk about the various aspects of the role but nothing concrete was discussed."
Though Padmini was not available for comments, a source revealed, "Padmini was keen to do the role. But we heard that Gautami bagged the role because her husband Ram (part of Ektaa Kapoor's hit show 'Kasamh Se', Zee) lobbied for her. We have also heard that the public vote was just a gimmick."
When contacted Gautami explained her stance, "I don't know on what basis they have selected me. Poonam and Padmini are definitely more experienced than I am. But I think that I too will be able to do justice to the character." Dismissing allegations of her husband Ram lobbying for her, she said, "This is the weirdest thing we have heard. Ektaa is the master and nobody can influence her."

Hubby gives new Tulsi thumbs-up!
Ram Kapoor is thrilled wife Gautami has replaced Smriti Iraani as
TV's most popular character, Tulsi
ROSHNI K OLIVERA Times News Network
Gautami Kapoor is excited about her return to TV. She'll be entering
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as Tulsi (Well, we still believe the
real Tulsi, Smriti Iraani, will be back in a few months after which
they'll declare Gautami is her friend). But there's somebody equally
excited about Gautami's return — her husband Ram Kapoor, aka Jai
Walia of Kasamh Se, who's hot among women these days, not to forget
producer Ekta Kapoor's declaration on Karan Johar's show recently.
Gautami and Ram met on the sets of Ghar Ek Mandir. They tied the
knot in 2003 after which Gautami took a break from acting. So how
did Ram react when she told him she wanted to get back to TV? "I was
all for it. I just said your comeback has to be strong. A few roles
came her way in the past which were okay. But I told her to hold on.
Sometimes she agreed, at times she got frustrated."
When Kyunki... was offered to Gautami, Ram felt it was a perfect
comeback. It may be a much-older character, but that's no problem,
he says. "I know TV really well. For good or for bad, characters
that are offered to me, Gautami or others in our bracket, who've
spent a few years and established ourselves strongly, are much older
than our actual age.
I'm playing Jai Walia, a character much older than my age. But look
where he's taken me!" he smiles, adding, "Besides, acting is about
being somebody else, not yourself."
Clearly the actor doesn't mind his wife sporting grey strands. "I
sport them too... in the show!" he says. Playing Tulsi, after Smriti
Iraani being associated with it for seven years, is no mean feat.
Gautami obviously is apprehensive. "She is nervous and
understandably so. This is one of the biggest things to have
happened on Indian television and there'll obviously be hype and
talk. There'll be negativity, too. It will be bombblasted. After
seven years of watching somebody if someone else comes in, there
will be criticism. Even if Shabana Azmi was to do this role, it
would be the same. I told Gautami, enjoy yourself, have a blast,
give it your best and leave the rest.
" What about the age-old cliche
that it's better for couples not to be working together? "My life is
hectic on my set and hers will be on her set. It depends from couple
to couple. If you are happy from within, everything falls into
place. We are on a high right now, careerwise things are great. On
the home front things couldn't have been better with our baby." So
would he like to work with Gautami in the future? Sure. We work
fantastically together."

Short, cleavage showing dresses might look great if you have the right figure, but it is also important to wear the proper innerwears and sport the correct posture. Recently, TV star Roshni Chopra was seen wearing a black number with white inner garments sneaking out, in a chat show. According to the experts, it is not cool to wear inner wears that do not complement your clothes. "Inner wears should be aesthetically worn and it must complement your garment. Otherwise it looks tacky and at times even cheap," says fashion designer Jyoti Jain. A wide range of innerwears is available in the market and you can select one according to the clothes you are wearing. "If you are wearing a strapless dress, go for a strapless bra. Also nowadays halter bras are available, so if the garment is showing off your back you can wear one of those too," Jyoti adds. It is important to go for expensive and good inner wears. "Invest in a good pair, rather than going for five cheap ones. Bras with adjustable straps are available, so select one according to the outfit you are wearing," says Jyoti. If you are well endowed experts suggest to go for transparent straps for better support. Jyoti adds that these are thread like straps available in the market that are especially suited for those with busty figures. Also while sporting a tight skirt or a trouser, Jyoti advises the wear of g-strings instead of the regular inner wears. "This doesn't show the curve of the inner garment and therefore doesn't look vulgar," Jyoti says. Inner wears are supposed to be worn beneath your outfits, but if you have to show it off at all, do so in a manner that it doesn't appear tacky. "In general there should be a colour coordination between your garments and your innerwear. But say you are wearing a chicken dress and you are sporting a hot pink or green wear beneath, wear a belt or bags or shoe of same colour so that it doesn't look vulgar but rather become a style statement," Jyoti says source: www.deccan.com preet😳 |
According to a unit source, the two Tulsis are poles apart. "Both Smriti and Gautami are very professional artists but the only common thing between them is their professionalism. They are completely different; both on screen and off screen.
Smriti would hardly interact with anyone on the sets. She is an excellent actor but she is very private person. She does not like getting involved with every person."
Playing the role of Tulsi, Gautami is working with the same staff that handled Smriti Irani on the sets of Kyunki.
"We have our own make artist, hair stylist and dress men so naturally Gautami is working with same people. She always looks into small things like her sarees for the day, her hairstyle and her make up. Smriti would never do that."
Gautami is putting her heart and soul into playing Tulsi:
"Gautami is involved with everything on the sets. She travels from town and does half her make up in the car itself. Therefore, within 15 minutes she readies herself for the shot. Gautami is a very co-operative person. After every shot she always checks with our creative people as to whether it is okay or not."
Presently on Kyunki the whole Viraani family is buttering up Tulsi (Gautami) in an attempt to make her sign property papers which every individual will get a share from. Tulsi, who is unaware of this and confused as to whether her family will accept her with her new face, feels happy with her family's behavior.
