However, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Zubeen removed the life jacket, reportedly feeling it was uncomfortable to swim with, and jumped back into the sea, which ultimately led to the fatal medical episode.

Latest update about Zubeen’s dead body
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that an autopsy was conducted in Singapore, after which Zubeen's mortal remains would be handed over to Indian authorities. Sarma shared an update on X, stating that Zubeen's body will be kept at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, allowing fans and admirers to pay their last respects. The Chief Minister also mentioned that the final rites will be decided by Zubeen's family, considering his widespread popularity in Assam.

Zubeen, a multi-instrumentalist proficient in 12 instruments including the anandalahari, dhol, and guitar, was Assam's highest-paid singer and a celebrated musician. He married Garima Saikia, a fashion designer from Golaghat, Assam, on February 4, 2002.
