Part C Subah Subah
Jai woke to the sound of water running in the bathroom. He glanced at the clock on the side table...God it's only 5.30 in the morning...what's Bani doing up so early. He heard the water turn off and lay still, eyes closed. He did not want Bani to see he was awake. A few minutes later she came out wrapped in a bath towel and quietly tiptoed to the wardrobe. She opened it carefully and reached up to get salwaar out to wear, the towel slipped and puddled on the floor. Jai watching her through half-opened eyes almost muffled the groan...closed his eyes shut to stop himself from staring at her bare body. His screamed silent explecitives in his mind as he contained urge to jump out of bed, grab her and bring her right back into bed.
After couple of minutes he heard her move back into the bathroom. He opened his eyes and heaved a sigh of relief. When she came out of bathroom again, she was dressed. Bani quickly glided across the room, picked up her cell and purse. She turned and looked at Jai sleeping, a half smile formed on her lips and she left the room. The door shut with a click and Jai opened his eyes and picked up his phone. He dialed security. "Mahesh, this is Jai Walia. Is there a PI stationed outside my house?"
"He is, good tell him to follow my wife. I want to know where she is going and who she is meeting with." Jai clicked the cell off and lay with his hands under his head, thinking. Guess she is going to meet Meera. Must have arranged to meet her...but where at this time of the morning? Everything is closed at this time of the morning. Well he has got his men watching both Meera and Bani, he knew it would be too good to keep Bani away from playing detective and keeping out of trouble. Thank God he didn't catch her bug, otherwise she would have dragged him at this goddamn hour of the morning. All he has to do is wait and see who has dragged his wife out of their bed at this hour of the morning.
Bani picked up the pooja thali she had got ready the night before and exited the house. Outside she told the security guard she was going to the mandir and left. Unknown to Bani, a car followed hers a safe distance away, making sure to stay well back so as not to arouse suspicion.
Meera was already there waiting for Bani at the steps of the mandir. Bani walked up to her with a smile on her face, "Namaste Meera."
"Namaste Bani. Let's do pooja first and then talk." Both of them climbed the steps of the mandir and went inside. The pandit was waiting for his early morning worshippers. He took their thali and offered their offerings at the murti and then handed back the thalis. The pandit asked them is they wanted to do arti. Both Bani and Meera said yes and they did the arti and then did gave their prayers and exited the mandir. The sky had lightened with the morning sun and they walked to the side of the mandir and sat down to talk.
Breakfast time…
Jai and everyone else was having breakfast when Bani walked in. She smiled as she walked up to them and started offering everyone Prasad. When she came near Jai, he smirked, "Wondered were you disappeared so early this morning. Why didn't you wake me up? I would have joined you for pooja."
Bani doing a small tikka and putting Prasad in his hand, "Mr Walia, next I will wake you up at five in the morning to go to mandir with me."
Ganga giggled, "Five O'clock. Papa will be snoring still mamma. When I went to wake him up this morning he was snoring so loudly. I had to put cold water on papa's face to make him stop and wake him up."
Bani giving an approving look to Ganga and a casting a wicked smile at Jai, "I will remember the trick Ganga next time I have to wake papa up."
Jai gave her wolfish grin, "I know better ways to wake me up honey.'
Masi, clouting one on Jai's head, "Jai…besharam…yahaan bacche baithe hain."
Jai rubbing his head and looking around the table, "Kaun bacche, sirf Ganga hai aur who bahut choti hai…" Bani glaring at him, "Mr Walia shut up. Before you say something and Ganga puts on spot. Now eat up. Don't you have office to go to."
Jai winked at her, "I thought I would cut down my office hours and spend more time with you and Ganga. I mean yesterday was fun, wasn't it Ganga? Want to do it again?"
"Yeah papa. No school, just fun…can we go to the beach?" Ganga asked her face beaming with a huge smile.
Bani looked at Ganga with one of her disapproving looks, "No more missing school Ganga. How will you become smart like papa if you miss school." And then giving Jai a warning look, "Mr Walia, please don't encourage her. There is weekend to do fun stuff with her. I think you should go to the office and don't disrupt our routine."
Jai trying to needle her, "But Bani, I promised I would cut down my office hours and spend more time with you. I don't want you to get bored and start playing detective again."
The red colour seeped over Bani's face, she spluttered on her tea. She dabbed her lips with a napkin and spoke firmly, "Mr Walia. Please I have enough to do with you, Ganga and the house to start playing detective."
Jai winked at her, "Tut tut, here I was thinking you'd miss me Mrs Walia." Bani threw her napkin at him and got up and walked into the kitchen before Jai said anything more. She heard soft laughter from Jai, Adi and Ranveer as she entered the kitchen.
