Chapter 21

After the trip Jai was busy due to his absence. Bani usually waited for him but most of the time she would doze off in the arm chair and Jai would have to carry her to bed. But she always slept in his arms.
Adi also was busy in the office as Sahil was not there now to over see the project due to his exams. While massi had gone to visit some of their relatives. Bani was apprehensive to ask Jigyasa about Nachiketh or Jai's childhood matters though they were on friendly terms. So she decided to wait for massi.

One evening as Massi and Bani were going to the temple
Massi: Bani I am so happy for Jai now. He seems to be taking some interest in his life other than business.
Bani: Why do you say that?
Massi: Now I can see him smile more and once he has a family of his own may be he can forget all his bitterness.
Bani thinking this is the best opportunity to ask massi.
Bani: Massi if you don't mind me asking Jai never talks about his childhood much to me just some things about his camps or his days in the hostel but never his time with the family.
Massi: That is because he never had any quality time with his parents or sister.
Bani: But massi Jai loved his mother and I have seen the respect and love for her in his eyes though he resents his father for many things it is not that he doesn't like him.
Massi: all that is a long story. But I guess you should know it but I'm sure Jai would talk to you given time.
Bani: Massi but I would like to know about it so that I can make him feel loved and to accept the simple joys of having a wonderful family.
Massi: If you insist but Jai mustn't know about this as he is never happy to talk about the past. Massi thinks of the old days. Jai's parents got married because of their business relationship between their parents. Initially everything was fine then Uday's business started to expand he had to travel much aboard and Krishna didn't enjoy many of the parties and gatherings that he went. Slowly that started creating a rift between them. Then Jai was born. Uday always looked up to his son as his successor and he wanted him to excel in everything. But Jai loved sports and out door activities so his scores in academic performances were not that great in fact he loved to play music. He is very good with the saxophone. Uday always reminded Jai only of his under achievements when Jai wanted to be appreciated for his abilities in sports and other activities. Meanwhile Jigyasa excelled in her studies and got the best grade which agitated Uday all the more. He often compared their grades. Which didn't please both his kids? This was another reason for Krishna and Uday to part ways. As Krishna always supported her children in everything. This also created rivalry among the kids as Jigyasa wanted to be appreciated for her achievements and that she could do very well while Jai wanted to be left alone to pursue his interests. Finally Krishna sought solution by sending the kids away to boarding school and Uday couldn't say much against my sister as the kids appreciated her more than the absent father who never appreciated them for what they were. As years went by each of the relationship started getting strained. Then Krishna fell sick that was a blow to the kids. Jigyasa was in 12th grade and Jai in 10th grade. Initially she had though not to inform them but then things went down hill quite quickly. The kids blamed Uday for not being there for their mother. But actually that was the first time I saw that Krishna and Uday did have some feelings for one another. He wanted to be with her during her last days but because of Jai and Jigyasa things got mixed up and finally she passed away. The final blow came to Uday when as per her will all the shares care taker ship was transferred to my name till Jai became 21 years actually she had made that sometime back and never got about changing it.

Bani: But then massi you could explain that to everyone.
Massi: That was something next to impossible with the kind of temperament Jai, Jigyasa and Uday shared. I was caught in-between them and nor did the kids or Uday could accept Krishna's decision but then finally the children came around because I was always by her side when ever needed. It took a long time for me to gain their confidence though they don't open up so much to me at least they started respecting me and giving me a place in their heart if not I couldn't have made up for their loss of their mother.
Bani: But what happened to Jai's father.
Massi: Well to make matters worse Uday got married to Barnali and she soon had Nachikeh. Which agitated the kids all the more but I know when he was at the most low in life Barnali was only there to support him. That developed into something more. Can't say it was love between them, they both needed someone as Barnali had lost her fianc at that time And Uday had Lost Krishna their loss brought them together.
Bani: If so then he could have told his children that. They would have understood.
Massi: For that you have to accept your children love and cherish them but Uday was a different kind of person but at least with Nachiketh I know he never committed the same mistakes he did with his other two children as by then Uday had started to feel that he had made some grave mistakes in his life and wanted to remedy them but by then it was late.
Bani: Is that the reason for Nachiketh's and Mr. Walia's strained relationship.
Massi: No. That is another story all along.
Bani: there is more to this again.
Massi: Why do you think Jai never gets close with any one because all the relationship he has tried to built up at some point or the other always deserts him?
Bani: I don't think so he shares quirt a good relationship with you and Adi uncle.
Massi: No he always draws an imaginary line only you are the person who has made any progress in crossing that.
Bani: Why do you say that?
Massi: Well there are reasons for Jai being the way he is. When he joined college he started taking responsibilities of the company soon there was tug of war between the father and the son. Uday didn't want Jai to go the way he traveled were business was above anything and everything. So he tried ways to deviate his attention but then Jai was all the more determined. Then Jai and Adi became business partners. Uday opposed to this relation but Jai went ahead with it. It created more business ventures for them and better profit but it strained their friendship as Jigyasa could never tolerate Jai's interference in Adi's life because she had enough of Jai while she was a kid. But Adi was the person who worked towards maintaining their friendship and his family life which really created a rift between his wife and kids and Jai felt he was responsible for it one way. Uday also never allowed him to forget the fact that he had warned him about the consequences. But Jai just asked him to mind his own business and take care of the family he had now. Then when uday passed away Jai got the shock of his life. When Uday had left everything in Jai's name and just a trust fund for Nachikeh and it was up to him to decide if he had a half brother .
Bani: But that would create more problems for Jai.
Massi: On the contrary it helped things slowly Jai started to find out that many of the business dealings he had achivied was because of the support of his father. Finally he felt that he had done wrong to his father and wanted to take up the responsiblity of Nachiketh.
Bani: Then that should have improved their relationship but the way I see it is still strained.
Massi: That is all Barnali's doing.
Bani: But why
Massi: She could never accept the fact that Uday really cared for Jigyasa and Jai. When Jai controlled the fiancs she felt that she would be let with nothing more over she noticed that Nachiketh looked up to his brother with respect and admiration he was willing to do things as per Jai's wishes. It was good to see the brothers getting along but Jigyasa resented Nachiketh and still does so as she felt Uday always preferred sons. But I guess it was the way he is.
Bani: No wonder Jigyasa aunty always felt insecure around Adi uncle also.
Massi: I felt she would out grow her insecurities with time but guess it didn't happen that way but now I'm seeing some positive changes so I hope she goes on that way.
Bani: If Mr. Walia didn't get along with Barnali why should it affect their relationship?
Massi: There is more to it. Barnali was afraid of Jai's and Nachiketh closeness. So when Jai had done a bid for prestigious contract she passed the information to the rival company for shares in that company and she had it transferred to Nachiketh's name. Jai didn't believe it initially but since Nachiketh didn't want his mother to be accused for anything he took the blame on him which left Jai devastated and bitter. He just threw him out of the business and said that he will not be able to show his face in the business world again.
Bani: but now they are on talking terms.
Massi: As everyone says truth comes out one day. Jai came to know about it and felt sorry for all things he said to Nachiketh and wanted him back into his business. But then Nachiketh said thing like this would happen again in the future so it would be better to draw lines when it came to business and family. Jai was not ready to accept that for an answer. So when Nachiketh told him that For Jai to accept him it is easy but he could never accept his mother nor can his mother accept him. So in the best interest for a long-term good relation it is always better to keep business and family separate and more over Jai has a family of his own were as his mother was all alone and she had no one to turn as a son he had responsibilities towards her. She actually had committed that mistake out of her love for her son. Jai could never understand Nachiketh's stand how he could stand by his mother's side when she used his name to escape for the mistake she had committed.
Bani: So finally Jai and Nachiketh were on talking terms but always Barnali came in between them.
Massi: You could say that. Baranli got what she wanted while Nachiketh and Jai gave up their relationship to work out things. Same way Adi and Jigyasa asked him to keep away from their quarrels because Jai never could understand them as he was never married. Then I was the only person who was left in his life but by then Jai had seen all the relationship he worked so hard to build up crumble before him that he didn't have the energy to move on to make a new on . So you are the first on to step into that world of his. Other wise other than his business associates he interact with no one.

Bani now felt why Jai could never express his feelings as he felt he was always a failure in building up any personal relationships but only good in maintaining business relationships. He could never open up himself but the fact that he himself had invited her to be apart o his life gave Bani the hope that one day she could make Jai see that there is more to life than all this bitterness and plotting against one another. Also that he can risk his heart again to love.Bani felt that Jai loved her in his own way but for him accpet that it would take some time.

g8 part, now i can understand JW insecurities and he is not declaring his love for bani because he is insecure about his relations and fear of losing bani, but most probably bani will help him getting over all and be a normal person and i hate jigs she is a self centered person without any love, but now bani will give her some mind.

i hope bani will bring together family and jai will be able to act normal very soon with all his family members.

I'm not sure if I ever commented on your ff before, but I wanted to let you know that I love reading it. You're doing an amazing job.

The relationship Jai and Bani share is beautiful, passionate, and most importantly, its based on the truth each of them have in the other.

It's amazing that Jai has only let Bani come into his life, and give him so much passion and care. Hopefully, soon, Bani will be able to bring him closer to his family and show him that making relationships work, you need to forget the past, work on present, and look forward to the future. Only she can make him understand, because she's the only one who's crossed that line in his life. She's very special to him as he is to her.

I really look forward to read more of this ff. I wait for your updates. Thank you for writing such a beautiful story.

love how you shetched out Jai's past...this will hopefully help JB come closer....my only fear is that Jai will find out she went behind his back..and that will make him more distant...dont let that happen...
