Chapter 22

After hearing massi Bani felt it was time for Jai to come out of his shell so she hatched upon a plan that would take its full shape on his birthday three weeks from now.
Now Things were better in the office so Jai had started coming home early but tonight he got delayed because the delegates for the meeting had arrived late. Bani was practicing a love ballad on the piano it was actually a surprise for Jai, but that night Jai walked in on hearing the haunting music and was wondering who played the piano so well. He knew Bani played the piano but mostly she kept herself to jingles and rhymes. He was surprised to see Bani fully engrossed in her music that with out a noise he sat on the sofa and listened. Finally Bani came out of her revive when she heard someone clap and say wow
Jai: So my wife does have flair for music.
Bani: when did you come and this was supposed to be a surprise. She was making a face now as her surprise got spoiled.
Jai: Pulled her out of the piano stool and sat there pulling her back on to his lap. His back was facing the piano keys. Don't worry sweet heart I knew you were up to something so this was the surprise.
Bani: why is it that I can never surprise you?
Jai: Now don't get mad at me. Have some mercy your husband is tired after a days hard work and here you are sitting and fighting with him just because you couldn't surprise him with the music.
Bani: I have been practicing for days to do this and now just see. Bani saw Jai's faint smile at her which always was undoing her then his head dropped and his lips covered hers it was always magical, sharp hot and intense and she always felt that she was transported to someplace like heaven on earth.
Jai: See you even forgot to greet me. Now how do I make it up to you for spoiling your surprise? Your wish my command.
Bani thought this was her chance.
Bani: While cleaning up the closet I came across something and Tony said at one time it used to be very dear to you I would like to hear you use that.
Jai was trying to figure out what she was referring to when Bani held the saxophone for him to play.
Bani: Will you play for me to night. Instead of hearing the DVD play it.
Jai seemed to be just staring and Bani felt as though Jai had been transported back in time she felt his eyes were getting moist.
Bani sat on his lap and said if you are not comfortable playing then may be you can join me to play the piano. Music in any variation is always soothing and helps to relax.
Jai: Don't worry I can play this itself for you its just that I have never played it for a while and especially in this house. I might be a bit rusty.
Bani was so happy that she started kissing him on his check and lip. Soon Bani realized that she had openly invited Jai as he deepened the kiss while he teased her silken lips with the tip of the tongue he drew her more close to make her feel his need for her . Reaching up Bani clasped the back of his neck her finger twining in his thick black hair. Soon the kissing was not enough both wanted to feel the love and passion they shared. With each of Jai's touch Bani felt so sensitive and writhed at the merciless attention Jai gave her. Jai: You are the most beautiful woman I have ever known and trust me you are the only one who has made me feel that I am wanted for what I am. Bani was so touched by these words that from the slow gentle pace all of a sudden took a wild turn and Jai possesed her thoroughly and completely. Bani was still on his lap but she just couldn't imagine how she would play the piano again without thinking about what had transpired a few seconds before.
Jai: Bani you keep this up there will be no playing of music moreover your old man requires to feed himself or I would be of no use.
Bani: God here I thought all you required was me and now he tells me that food is the most important thing.
Jai: Keep this up and you will find yourself unable to move next morning.
Soon Bani feels it is time to exit or knowing Jai he never wastes an opportunity to keep her in bed all night awake.
After dinner Jai played the saxophone for her. It was very quite in the mansion so others too heard the music and was surprised to hear especially Jigyasa and massi as they knew Jai never played the instrument at home.

Next day in the morning in the kitchen when Bani is helping to set the table for breakfast.
Massi: Bani looks like you are trying to make Jai forget his past.
Adi and tarun came to join Jai at the table for breakfast.
Adi: I never knew you could play the saxophone. Only after Jigyasa mentioned to me I came to know that you have interest in music.
Jai: There are lots of things you don't know about me. Bani wanted to hear it that is why I played last night.
Tarun: Now why doesn't that surprise me that Bani knew you could play music while we didn't know anything about it?
Jai: Not again. Even Jigyasa and massi also knows about that you can ask them
Adi: They are different but I agree with Tarun Bani has known you just for over a year and she seems to know more about you than anyone else seated here.
Jai: That is why I got married to her.
Tarun: And here I though because of my suggestion.
Jai: No way it was my decision to get married to her you only suggested an engagement for the time being. Knowing me you should know no body can make Jai walia do things which he is not interested in.
Adi: Oh ya that is old news now.
Jai: What do you mean?
Tarun: Well the latest news is that to get Jai Walia to do anything approach his wife.
Jai: What
Bani hearing all this.
Bani: Massi from tomorrow onwards I will not be serving any breakfast for Adi uncle and Tarun as they always are creating problems in my marriage.
Jai: Serves you both right. As it is I put up with your craziness in office and I can do without that early in the morning over breakfast.
Adi: Hey Tarun why do they both always come for our throats.
Jaigyasa: simple as you don't know to mind your own business.
Tarun: Before this breaks out into a husband wife conflict I am out of here.
Adi: Always the one to leave me to hear the music.

Finally when everyone left she got hold of Anu and Sahil to prepare for the birthday celebrations she had roped in Nachiketh and Pushkar too.

A few days later in the morning Anu wanted to ask something regarding the surprise party but she knew Jai was with Bani and she had to leave early that morning with Sahil as her car had gone for repairs. So finally she called up thought the intercom Jai took the phone swearing an oath but Bani couldn't help smile.
Jai: This better be good who ever is on the line.
Anu: Oh God Mamaji it's me Bani mami wanted me to pick something's for her I just wanted the list as I'm leaving now.
Jai: Couldn't you have taken it last night itself but any way Jai Hands Bani the phone and goes into the shower.
Anu: Sorry mami why do I get the feeling that I have interrupted something important.
Bani: Well since you know that tell me what you want.
Anu: Mami I though only mamaji forgets things the moment he sees you but I have a strong notion that it works the other way too.
Bani just then realized the list and the arrangement that she had asked Anu and Sahil to do.
Come up I will give it you. Sahil also wanted to see Bani so they both walked up to the room knocked and entered. Seeing Bani in a silk slip with delicate spaghetti straps and a softly shirred bodice and it gave a good glimpse of her cleavage and body curves. The short hem hitting mid thigh highlighted her slim legs.
Anu and Sahil were so zapped to see her that way.
Anu: No wonder mamaji watches mami like a hawk.
Sahil: Even the swim wear didn't do so much of justice. Wow mami this is really hot and … Sahil couldn't complete the sentence as Jai walked out of the washroom.
Jai: God Kids of today. For your information she is your mami.
Bani had now taken her wrap around slipped it over her shoulder as she saw Sahil.
Anu: So what Mami is just like us and she looks gorgeous in western outfits.
Jai: Bani you better stick to Indian outfits then.
Sahil: Sorry to say but mami ji looks good in anything.
Jai: the comments were getting him madder I thought you wanted something from Bani. As soon as Jai moves out they get down to business Jai felt something fishy about the whole think this week Bani was behaving strangely and he couldn't pin point what was happening he tried to pry it out of her later during the night But Bani just told him it was his imagination because of what transpired today morning.

Finally the day of the birthday had come. Jai woke up to a morning with the fragrance of lily and soft music of happy bithday being played on the piano by Bani.
Jai had a smile on his face and he walked down to Bani and kissed the top of the head so this is what you wer planning.
Bani: What
Jai: All this while you were planning for my Birthday.
Bani: What are you saying I just wished you that is all?
Jai: Come on Bani tell me what are your plans you can never hide things from me as I can read your eyes like a book I knew you were up to something only that I couldn't pinpoint to it.
Bani: Fine but you never tell me your surprises always you keep saying that the magic is lost same way this is a surprise treat for you and enjoy it the whole day till midnight.
And she made her way out of the room.
Jai soon discovered it was indeed a day of surprises for him. He was surprised as to how Bani had got hold of everyone to do their bit to make this day memorable for him. For the first time he felt that Bani had truly changed him from a lonely person to a man that cared and shared.

At the breakfast table he got a cake of his favorite flavor which was baked by Anu and Jigyasa which shocked even Aditya. Then Nachiketh had come over with a bouquet and wished him also told him that he would be again working along with him as he has taken the subcontract work for the seven star project in Greece. Also he would be interested in any future endeavors were Jai would feel his presence required.
Massi wanted Jai to visit the orphanage and old age home as they had started on some new plans and she wanted to finalize them today. So Jai went along with her and Bani.
The children there presented him with a play for his birthday and music. Finally he also played music along with Bani. It was scholarship plans and a new wing for the old age home and it was opened in memory of his parents. Finally Jai felt at peace for the first time since his parents died today as he walked from the old age home.

In the office too the employees had presented him with a card and for lunch they had a buffet with all of Jai's favorite dishes. It was all home cooked meal and for the first time Jai shared the meal with his colleagues as he never even attended the annual party hosted every year during Diwali.

Finally at night when he stepped into his house it was dark but suddenly the lights came on and he saw all his business associates big and small even his foreign business partner had come to greet him on his birthday. He was greeted by everyone and then he went for a change of clothes which Varun had gifted him from the new collection

After the cake cutting while dancing.
Jai: So tell me is the surprise over or there is more to it.
Bani: It is not midnight so it's not over.
Jai: You got all the people in my life to wish me happy birthday. God Bani you only can do something crazy like this.
Bani: What
Jai: Oh it's not like that God Bani I don't know what to say it feels he was searching for the right word.
Bani: It feels good to be wanted for the person you are. Jai everyone here has been a part of your life so cherish the happy moments life has given you.
Jai: Bani when you say things like this I just want to run away.
Bani: Why Jai
Jai: Bani things aren't that simple but I always need you are the sunshine in my life and one day if I loose all this it would never matter to me but God forbid if you are not there for me I am no more.
Bani: Don't say that you will find Bani all the way till eternity by your side.
Both of them kept dancing lost in their thoughts. After a while when Pushcart interrupted them.
Pushkar: Well don't you think its time to leave.
Jai just looked at Bani
Jai: Leave from the party.
Bani: Yes just wait a second and take the car out of the garage and wait at the drive way I will join you
Jai: What about the guests?
Bani: Don't you want the final surprise of the day.
Jai: Well by the looks of it my wife has decided on something naughty. Laughs and goes to get the car. While Bani goes to thank the guests for being there for the party and makes excuse for leaving them and asks Adi and Nachiketh to take care of the guests.
