Chapter 22
After two days Massi is getting ready to see saraswathi devi when dadi comes and asks don't we have to go the orphanage and distribute the gifts.
Massi: Oh I had forgotten about all that Please take Adi and go I have to meet Tarun to see the guest arrangement for the wedding.
Dadi: Now a day you seem to be too forgetful is everything o.k. is it because your in-laws are coming for the wedding.
Massi: nothing it is just all the excitement and too much to be done. Look I should be back within two hours why don't I meet you at the orphanage and then we can go to the ashram also.
Dadi Fine but if you get delayed just give me a call.

Massi and tarun are waiting for saraswathi devi. We can see a lady of great elegance in clad in an off white saree with stunning diamond jewellery along with a man in suit accompanying her.

Tarun: Massi I think they are coming. Massi turns and looking at them approach feels like she is gone back into time when she was married. She goes and takes her blessing.
Saraswathi devi: Rugmani so you haven't changed much. What was so urgent that you had the trustee's my house keeper and every other person known that you wanted to see me. The last time we met you didn't want to be even connected to my family why all of a sudden this change.
Massi: I think it would be better for us to sit and have this conversation rather as it will take some time. More over I am waiting for one more person to come. By the way this is Tarun Jai' friend and a lawyer
Saraswathi: Rugmani why don't you just come to the point and why with a lawyer. Last time you didn't want anything from us did you change your mind.
Massi: though you never trusted me let me inform you that I never wanted anything from your family nor I had thought again our paths would cross but fate has its on way.
Sarawathi: you don't seem to be very happy about approaching me let me assure you I have seen a lot in life and am willing to make amends for my past i.e. why I am here and I thought that is what you wanted also from the conversation we had over the phone. But now I have a feeling that there is a lot more to it.
Tarun sees the doctor approaching and tells them the person we are waiting for has arrived.
They introduce one another and the doctor is at awe because he has been introduced to some one from the royal family. Meantime we have someone behind the screen taping their conversation and they can't see him.
Saraswathi devi: Oh by the way I forgot to congratulate you on your Jai sons wedding. But I am sorry I will not be able to make it for the wedding.
Massi: Well you may not want to attend my son's wedding but do you want to miss your own grandchild's wedding. For someone who has been waiting for this moment all her life I feel you should make time for it.
Saraswathi devi and her attendant was wonder stuck she was speechless and went for a glass of water. It felt as though she couldn't breathe what is she saying.
Saraswathi devi: What do you mean by my grandchild. Are you saying you have a daughter that I am not aware of.
Massi: We all know about that I can never have children. I am talking about Tara's and your son's daughter.
Saraswathi devi is now literally confused: I thought she died in that accident and her body was not recovered because of the rains.
Massi: Well we have reasons to believe that she was not in that car with him at that time and may be she witnessed the accident but to clear all that she is not alive.
Sarawathi devvi if she is not alive how do you know that she is my grand daughter? Is this one of your ways to finally get back to me for all those years?
Massi: I don't think I would stoop so low in spite of what you think about me. I accidentally discovered this information and before anyone brought it your notice I wanted to tell you.
Tarun: I think I better tell her highness how we stumbled upon it tarun goes to explain all his findings and adds that if you are still not satisfied we could do a DNA test but let me tell you Bani or Jai is not aware of the fact and we will have to go slow on it.
Saraswathi devi: But if Tara was alive why didn't she come to me. We were so close she was my friend's daughter.
Doctor answers that question: Actually your highness the day we found tara on the highway she was exhausted though she never had any wounds she just fell in front of our van. It was late in the night and our team was coming back from a vaccination camp.
We took her to the hospital and gave necessary first aid. But she never spoke a word she was in a state of shock and just had a blank look. We thought some one would come enquiring for her and even reported to the local station but no one came finally she was transferred to the convent near by. There the dixit's tried to help her come out of her shell but though she said a few words she never could recollect who she was though she remembered some part of her life it was like she was trying to forget something and we have reasons to believe that she was trying to forget her husbands accident as she would get slightly out of control when she saw fire and light is flashed on to her face more over she was pregnant and that kind of anxiety was not good for her or for the baby so we let things be.
Saraswathi: But how did the dixits get hold of the child
Doctor: Well they were also expecting and both the deliveries happened around the same time while dixits baby was still born Tara's baby was born healthy only she didn't survive to even she her child's face as we couldn't control the haemorrhaging. As per the suggestion of the convent superior and mine we suggested Nishikant to adopt the child as it would help his wife come out of her depression. They had been trying to have kids for sometime and two previous ones had been an abortion. At that time we thought it was God's way of showing his blessing.
Saraswathi devi: This is all too much turns towards massi I want to see Bani and acknowledge this relationship.
Massi: you just can't hurry there is a wedding and she is not aware of anything.
Saraswathi: I don't know about that all I know is I want see my grand daughter moreover you have known this for two months now almost why haven't you told her Is this some way to take my grandchild away from me.
Massi: why are you always so suspicious? You are forgetting something I approached you at the risk of losing her.
Saraswathi: O.K. I want to see her so what has to be done. Moreover I want the reception to be held at our palace.
Massi: I didn't come here so that you could take care of the wedding plans.
Saraswathi: Well she is marrying a commoner and I have not opposed to that you could appreciate at least that.
Tarun: Your highness please try and understand this wedding is already a high profile marriage in the business community already lot of things have been published in the paper
Saraswathi: At least some things don't change your family always like to be in the papers for wrong reasons thought I might add.
Massi: I haven't come here to listen you bring my family down. Just for you to know about your grand child. I f you can't be civil we might as well forget about all this and nothing is going to stop this wedding.
Saraswathi: Are you threatening me.
Tarun: Please we have to come up with a plan not fight
Saraswathi devi: Well I want to see her and be apart of the wedding celebration is it too much too ask and till the wedding I will keep quite but after that no.
Massi: fine by me


Finally saraswathi ji agrees and she will be coming to see Bani tomorrow in the morning and there will be others also of the royal family attending the wedding also the ceremony will be done in their style. Massi agrees to all this and leaves

Meanwhile Barnali has hatched onto her plan and she receives a call saying that tomorrow is a big day and everything is done as per your instructions.

The family is in for a shock Jai and bani leave the house.

Very, very iunteresting and as I had thought. Cant wait to se what Barnali has in store for all of them.
