Part 30, here we go! 😉

PART 30

Jai is still in shock that someone has dared speak to him this way. He glares at Jatin who retreats towards the door. Just before he steps outside Jatin turns and smirks…

Jatin: Game on Mr Walia… … GAME… ON…

Jai is left standing in the hallway hearing Jatin's words in his head. "maine aisa kuch bhi nahin kiya jo tumhaari biwi nahin chahti thi……maine bachpan se lekar aaj tak pyaar kiya hai……mere paas chali aayegi……"

He sees nothing in front of him except the image of his Bani in the arms of another. He walks up to his bedroom and sits down on the bed, holding his face in hands. He tries so hard to wipe that picture from his mind but it just won't leave!!

Bani, closing the bedroom door: Oh Jai, aap yaha hai! apne kapde me ab tak bethe hue hai?! Maine kabka aap ka nightsuit nikaal ke rakhdiya hai, aap change kyun nahin kar lete!! Ye lo me aapke liye thanda pani laayi hoon, bahut garmi thi na neeche??

She keeps on aimlessly chattering, talking about the weather, the turnout at the party, people's clothes, the music…

Jai hears her but nothing registers. Inwardly he chides himself for even vaguely entertaining the idea of Bani and Jatin together, but he can't get that voice out of his head. "Game on Mr Walia… … GAME… ON…"

He jumps as he feels Bani sit down next to him, lowering her head onto his shoulder. She smiles contentedly and looks up at him.

Bani: Aap ko khabar bhi hai aaj aap kitne handsome lag rahe the? Mujhe ab dhyan rakhna hoga… kahin aap ko koi mujhse churake na lejay!

Jai, smiling sadly: Bahut khush lag rahi ho Bani?

Bani, gets up and walks towards the dresser to take off her jewellery: Haan Jai, aaj me bahut hi khush hoon! Aaj kitne dino ke baad sab kuch… theek lag raha hai! Aaj Rano aur Pia dono ko khush dekhte hue mujhe finally yeh lag raha hai jaise maine apne Papa se kiya hua vaada nibhaaya hai.

Jai: Tum aur Rano… ab sab kuch…

Bani: Haan Jai. Ab sab kuch theek hai! You know, main bahut khushnaseeb hoon ke mujhe Jatin jaisa dost mila hai… voh hum teeno ko itni achchi tarha se jaanta hai… he knew exactly what to say… Rano aur Pia bhi usse bahut pyaar karti hai, bachpan se le kar-

BANG!

The sudden crash of the bathroom door being slammed shut made her jump! She looked around confused, to see that Jai is no longer in the room.

Jai leans against the bathroom door, his eyes shut, his heart pounding. Just hearing her say his name felt like someone was stabbing him in the chest. "maine aisa kuch bhi nahin kiya jo tumhaari biwi nahin chahti thi……maine bachpan se lekar aaj tak pyaar kiya hai……mere paas chali aayegi……"

"Nahin," he thinks "me yeh kya soch raha hoon!! Bani mujhse pyaar karti SIRF mujhse!". But that voice of doubt that always resided at the back of his mind spoke a little louder… they had been best friends since they were children… she listened to him and respected him… Pia and Rano saw him as a brother… she was outside… in his arms…

His ego and insecurity seemed to have got the better of him again…

The next morning Bani is woken by the strong sunlight shining through the windows. She opens her eyes and turns over to look at her husband, only to find the bed empty. She looks at the bedside clock.

Bani: NAU BAJ CHUKE HAI!! Abhi maine Jai ka naashta nahi banaaya, unke kapde nahin nikaale…

She runs into the shower and is ready in 15 minutes. Hurrying downstairs she sees Dadi and Tony clearing the breakfast table.

Bani: Dadi yeh kya, aapne uthaaya bhi nahin!! Kitni der ho chuki hai, pata nahin mujhe kya hogaya hai!!

Dadi laughs: Koi baat nahin puttar, tum aaram karlo na, aise mauke baar baar nahin milte!!

Bani: Voh…

Dadi: Jai…? Voh to kabka office chala gaya! Aaj nashta bhi nahin kiya, pata nahin kya baat hai!

Bani is surprised that Jai had left for work without even waking her… what was wrong with him…? He hadn't even said goodbye – and he usually did a lot more than just say it!!

Jai is in his office, trying to read a new project file and failing miserably! He tells his secretary to hold all personal calls and gives up his attempts to work. All he has done this morning is think about his argument with Jatin last night. On waking up he had taken a long look at the beautiful face of his sleeping wife. He loved to just watch her, sleeping so peacefully, a little smile on her perfectly-formed lips…

He had recognised the signs of obstinacy and determination in Jatin's eyes last night, and knew he would stop at nothing to take Bani away from him. After a night of fitful sleeping he had concluded that the reason he had been upset and worried was not because he didn't trust Bani, but because he didn't trust Jatin.

He calls home, feeling guilty that he had left Bani sleeping without saying goodbye – more than that, he missed his goodbye kiss!!

Jai: Hello…? Haan… Dadi? Dadi aap Bani ko phone dijiye please… …

What…?! Kab…?! Oh… ok.

Nahin… koi khaas baat nahin… me baad me baat karloonga!

He slammed the phone down, wanting to throw it against the wall. Dadi had told him that Bani had gone to Jatin's house!! Apparently he had called her to ask for help in re-decorating his new house in Juhu. He was itching to go over there right now and bring her home but he didn't want to give Jatin the satisfaction of knowing he had gotten to him.

He goes back to his work, keeping himself and his mind busy. Finally he leaves the office and reaches home at approximately 8pm. He expects to find Bani waiting for him at home and runs up to his bedroom, eager to see her, but there is no-one there!

Tony informs him that Dadi, Jigyaasa madam and Ranveer sahab have all gone to a jaagran at Mr Malhotra's house and will not be back until the following morning. Aditya too would not be home until tomorrow afternoon as he had had to attend a meeting in Nasik.

Jai calls her mobile and leaves a voicemail message for her. He wanders back and forth trying to stay calm. 9pm comes and goes and there is still no sign of Bani! Jai paces his study holding a glass of whisky in one hand and his mobile phone in the other. He drinks more and more, becoming increasingly angry and restless with each passing minute…

Bani is getting more and more worried everytime she looks at her watch. Everything that could go wrong seemed to have done so today!! She was already a little disturbed at Jai's early morning disappearance. When Jatin had called her for help decorating his house, she had said no at first, but after much persuasion from Dadi she got ready to go. She had had to take a taxi as all the cars were either occupied or had been sent for servicing.

She had spent most of the day visiting decorators and craftsmen with Jatin helping him choose the new furniture and interior decorations for his new house. Although it had been nice to chat with an old friend Bani had sometimes felt uncomfortable with some of his comments about her clothes and hair, the way he casually hugged her and sat so close to her. At one point, they had almost started arguing about her relationship with Jai but she had deftly changed the topic to avoid any more discord. When she had finally left at 8pm it had started raining so heavily and no taxi would stop for her!! Jatin had of course offered to drop her home but she had made her excuses and left alone. She knew Jai would have been less than enthused to see Jatin dropping her back home so late.

After she had become thoroughly soaked she was finally able to convince a taxi-driver to take her back to Walia House. Now she was stuck in unmoving traffic and it was well past 10pm! On top of it all her mobile battery had died so she couldn't contact Jai to let him know she would be late!! "I hope unhe bhi aaj office me der ho jaye" she prays…

Just before 11pm Jai hears a car driving in through the gates. He storms into his bedroom, onto the balcony and sees Bani getting out of a taxi.

Jai, unable to see through the alcohol and his anger: …I trusted you Bani…

I appreciate whatever feedback I get from you guys - whether positive or negative! 😉 But if it is negative, then please let me know what you don't like about the FF otherwise how will I be able to improve it? 😕 😊

I like your fanfic a lot but this new thing(twist whatever you call it) sounds like another ekta kapoor drama. I think he should just confront bani instead of creating misunderstandings. I hope i wasn't harsh. It is really good though.
