Hi

I hope this part would satisfy everyone's curiosity. New characters are getting introduced here but they are only going to be there for a while. It's like a blast from the past. And I hope I have given enough masala in the update to compensate for the fact that I did not update last week.

I shall try to do the update regularly a week. Enjoy reading and please do tell me how you feel about the reason for their separation. I have just tries to portray how two strong individual characters though in love couldn't reason out with their own feelings. Unknown to them their ego and insecurities played a havoc on their mind set. I don't if I have been so successful in portraying that.

Chapter

Jai had kind of got used to the life now were they lived in two worlds at times. But still Bani always made sure he was aware of her plans and what she was doing. But then one evening as he walked in he got the shock of the life He was back from London after a successful joint venture to be welcomed to an empty house with bare minimum servants.

Whenever he was away he had ensured Massi was with Bani. To date she cannot be alone at night. That was one thing Jai knew she was afraid of the dark. He often teased her for that. But she always said then why do I have my knight in shining armor for if he cannot protect me from the dark.

So where was everyone? Then he remembered Bani calling him few days back and informing him of Massi's birthday and he has to come for it as they had planned some surprise for her at the farm house. It was Bani's idea and she was royally mad when he informed that the venture would take few more days to complete if she can postpone it to next week. To which Bani was adamant saying that Massi's birthday was not next week but this week and if his business is more important then the family so be it and banged the phone down? Jai had not forgotten the message she had left on the answering machine saying that the plans were still on weather the great Jai Walia would like to grace with his presence or not. Not to forget how ever big he grows he is still Massi's Munna. At that moment he found it humorous as he knew Bani if she wanted something being cross with him was one way of getting it out of him. But this time he was really under pressure and he hoped that she would understand but looks like this time it wasn't to happen.

But the biggest jolt was once they were back home the next evening the cold shoulder treatment she gave him. For the first time something changed and that was whenever he came back let it be after just a days work or how cross she was with him. She would run and hug him and give him a kiss and her sweet smile.

Jai was waiting patiently the whole evening but towards the night he couldn't stand it so he went for a confrontation with her over the attitude when she came in with his regular coffee after dinner.

Jai: So finally my wife decided to grace with her presence.

Bani just kept quite and went to pour the coffee and place on his desk.

The moment she came close he pulled her into his arms. To which Jai just got her angry glare.

Jai: Stop giving me those looks and I told you I wouldn't be able to make it. So how about a kiss for me. And he was about to kiss her when Bani's anger knew no bounds.

Bani: Stop trying to be so cozy with me. You are not forgiven.

But Jai was advancing on to her and Bani knew where this argument was heading to. But this time she wouldn't give in. she had decided it in her mind and once she sets on something just like her husband she too can be pretty stubborn. That's one thing they both have in common.

Jai: Alright Baby sorry and he was trying to bring her close. When Bani stamped his foot and Jai by the unexpected move yelped in pain.

Jai: Bani what was that for.

Bani: Stop trying to manhandle me.

Jai: What?

Bani: I don't think something is wrong with your hearing you heard it first time.

Jai: Are we trying hard to get here my wifely

Bani: Oh please its not always you Jai Walia for once try and put others before you. Thank the lord you remember that I am still your wife.

Jai: Hey you know that you are the most important one in my life. I was busy with the venture and before leaving itself I had explained how important it was for us.

Bani: Oh ya. The scores you had to settle. I know all that but just for the record I like to be on the top of your list of priorities. So when that happens you let me know.

As Bani was about to exit the study

Jai: You accuse me of things and do you think you are going to get away with that.

Bani: I am not accusing you I am merely stating an observation. I don't like to be the second fiddle in your life just you don't like it. So we are even Mr.

And she walks out of the room.

And for the first time something happened Bani choose to sleep with Massi that night. Though Massi did not question she guessed it was due to the verbal duel happened earlier in the study. Though they couldn't hear much the raised voices was enough to make Massi realize they had a good exchange of words. Some how Massi wasn't happy with Bani's behavior this time.

Next morning she told Bani that she should try to settle differences between her and Jai.

Bani: Why has it always got to be me?

Massi: I though you knew the answer to that before you entered into marriage with him.

Bani: What

Massi: He has always been head strong and taking care of thing for a long time Bani. And his hard work has paid off well that his family is now in this position so you have to try and understand him more. You are no longer Bani Dixit you are Jai's wife and you have to make compromises. He has given up a lot to be were he is now and you should stand by him in what ever he decides.

Bani: At what cost Massi? You wanted him to enjoy his life but looks like you all still see him only as the care taker of the family.

Massi was shocked to hear it from her.

Massi: I hope you are aware my child what you are speaking off. My Munna has suffered many looses. But to date he has never broken down.

Bani: Your Munna is also human Massi. He is entitled to show his emotions.

Massi: Be careful my children you are lurking through dangerous water and let me tell you if something was to happen to him. I cannot say that I would stand by your side the same way I have been there for you always. And leaves

Bani to herself: I know that Massi no one can ever take your Munna's place. And I'm not trying to break him. I want you all to see the side of him that I only got to see behind that entire facade there is a man who likes to be appreciated without all this fanfare. Why is so difficult for you all to understand something so simple.

That evening there was party organized to celebrate the new venture. And there makes the entry of Jai's best friend Roshini Chopra and his current associate. Bani knew a lot about her. But seeing her face to face and the closeness they shared Bani was jealous and mad with Jai. She knew she had nothing to fear deep sown. But when they both stood on stage and did the announcement of the new project tot eh press. She felt left out. And now the music was playing and Jai hadn't asked her for the dance and Roshini was now dancing with him. That was it she couldn't take it. She was sitting in the corner and watching them. When a tall handsome looking person approached hr. He was close to Jai's age.

Man: Hello do you mind if I join you.

Bani was so lost in herself that she didn't register what the man was talking about. Sensing that she was some where else.

Man: He snaps a finger hi looks like trouble.

Bani not liking the way he approached moves away.

Man: You know sitting here is not going to help.

Bani: If you are so wise any ideas.

Man: Now we are talking. I am Deb. Aparajith Deb

Bani: Bani here and they shake hands.

Deb: Its a pity that a pretty woman like you is not one the dance floor shall we.

Bani: Ehm

Deb: Come on

Bani: All right.

And she steps on to the floor as Jai was about to ask her.

Roshini on seeing this

Roshini: Isn't it Debu with Bani. What's he doing here?

Jai: I hope he is not back to his old ways.

Roshini: You always felt that Pallavi was too good for him. But he is nice once you really get to know him.

Jai: Oh wow what a great supporter anyways all that is water under the bridge.

Roshini: Lets go say hi to him for old times sake.

Jai was not liking it one bit first he dancing with his wife. Then Roshini being over enthusiastic over Deb. He was always trouble. One thing he never could understand was how a girl like Pallavi could fall for him. She was an outgoing fun loving person were as Deb was a shy introvert and like to remain to himself and his books and painting. Pallavi and he shared only one thing in common that was art.

(During college days Roshini, Tarun, Deb and Pallavi were all together except Deb and Pallavi. Jai was senior to all of them by a year. Pallavi was a family friend of the Chopra's so they often met. Deb was an outsider in their circle and he was super jealous of the friendship Pallavi shared with them. It often led to conflicts. Then the last thing Jai knew was Pallavi had moved with Deb to America after they got married. But then the shocking news he got a few years later that Pallavi had died. They say it was an accident and Deb was driving. He had miracously escaped. By the time Jai had come to know of all this almost a year had passed. Then he never heard anything about Deb. Until now. And how come he was invited here what was the connection.)

As Bani and Deb was moving towards the bar counter Jai and Roshini came in.

Jai: Hi Aparajith.

Deb: Hello if it isn't the handsome college rake and the beauty queen. Still together.

Jai: There is a slight correction. We are only business associates. But you have already met my better half.

Deb was looking confused.

Jai pulled Bani towards him and with an arm around her waist. My wife Bani Jai Walia. Bani felt that Jai was stressing on the word Jai Walia too much. So now he is trying to be the neglected husband. And sensing Jai's mood she didn't want a fight over here as she kept looking form one face to the other during the entire time.

Bani: Oh so you all know one another.

Roshini: We were together in college. So how are you Debu?

Deb: Doing well you could say.

Roshini: Shall we all have drink for old time sake. And you can tell us how come you are here.

Again Bani felt the odd one out. And her escape came when Nattu came in with his father and they went on to the dance floor. The worst part of the night was when Jai had to go and drop Roshini at the hotel and she was to leave that night to London and Bani had to take the ride alone were the driver was taking her home.

But as she was waiting in the lobby Deb had come and so he said he could drop her. And Bani who was mad at Jai and wad just in the mood to get home just took a ride with him.

On the way Bani found that they both shared similar taste in art and they got carried away. He invited her to see his private collection. Bani was excited about the whole thing. On the way the car had some problems so they stopped to get it repaired. In the mean time Jai had already reached home and on not seeing Bani there was super mad. And when the driver informed him that she preferred to go with one of her friends and Jai was surprised who it was. But in another half hour he got the answer to that. To see a smiling Bani come out of the car with Deb.

Jai who was nursing a drink just threw the glass away on to the wall leaving it to scatter to pieces. Meanwhile Bani had entered the house and hearing the commotion stepped into the study.

Bani: What happened here?

Jai had a murderous look in his eyes and Bani knew that look. He must have got mad on not seeing her home. But she failed to see the jealousness and anger in seeing her with someone else.

Bani: I'm sorry Jai the car had some problems.

Jai: There was no need for you to hitch a ride when a driver and car was waiting for you to be dropped home.

Bani: Please Jeet I am in no mood for a fight. Rather than come to an empty house and wait for you I thought I would take the ride with your old friend and chat what's the harm.

Jai: You are asking me, what's the harm in my wife chatting away with some man in the middle of the night?

Bani: You don't have to be so gross.

Jai: Then how should I put it.

Bani: Its fine for you to walk around hand in hand with your girl friends and get pictures splashed over the paper but if I have a chat with one of your friends it becomes a crime. That's double standards.

Jai: Don't drag Roshini into all this.

Bani: Oh so it hurts.

Jai: Don't try to make a mountain out of a mole hill now.

Bani: Am I. Of late you seemed to be really cozy with her. And did I ever complain. If I were to say something itself my mouth is closed before that. But I take a ride with your friend its blown out of portion eh.

Jai: I don't like my wife to be seen with other men is that too much to ask for. And as for Roshini everyone knows she is only an associate and if I was interested in her that way it should have happened years ago.

Bani: thanks for telling me.

Jai was not liking the sarcasm in her voice. He had just come closer and Bani could get the smell of alcohol form far.

Bani accusingly you have been drinking.

Jai: Oh so now my wife is out to night to find fault in me.

So perhaps if I do this she could add on to the list of faults and his lips came crashing down upon her. It was unexpected and Bani couldn't escape him. She tried to push him away the more she tried his hold on her tightened and now it was beginning to hurt her. But Jai was gone beyond caring. He was molding her and bringing her closer that now Bani could feel his need and she was trying to catch on to her breath. She had tried to get away from him. But Jai was fast for her, so she tried to be numb but then he ate away all her resolve and soon she was in his arms and felt a binding need that he only could satisfy. Before she could register how far they had gone she was naked in his arms and he was inside her with pulsing need.

Later as she clung on to him Bani didn't understand why it that their arguments always ended up this way was. They never could have a rational conversation.

Slowly Bani came to know Jai resented Deb because of the way he treated his wife Pallavi. Bani felt that Deb and Jai were of a kind were they are too poses sieve of their woman.

But one good thing happened after that night. The next morning Jai was sorry of his behavior with her. He apologized and even talked about his college days. Something which Jai rarely did was talk of his past. Bani felt that Jai was opening up to her.

Meantime Bani had formed a good friendship with Deb and Jai was aware of it too that she had gone to see his art collection. In fact she wanted Jai to accompany her. But declined saying that it was beyond him. Jai too found that Deb had changed a lot he doesn't drink now looks like Pallavi's death had changed him But he was still cautious. The man was unpredictable form college days.

To top all that Jai was now being more attentive to her and they were planning to start on that family which they have been dreaming of having. Bani and Jai had gone together to meet the doctor. He was very positive but he still wanted to run some tests on her. So she had fixed up the appointment according to Jai's schedule. In fact she had canceled some of her work with Massi and she was super excited about the whole thing.

But again fate came into the way. The London office had some emergency and Jai had to go. That again shook up the peace they had formed. Bani felt that for Jai always the company came first.
