So now straight to the update

Dear readers there is a prelude before we enter into this chapter.

Here you get introduced to some people at random in the conversations and meetings. They are all friends of Jai or Bani. Mohan and Meera have a major role in the story. To better understand the latest development in the story.

Meera and Jai used to be real close friends. Mohan was Jai's class mate and often they were in competitions be it in sport, academic or in matter of girls. And mostly Jai used to emerge as the winner. This was a dent to Mohan's ego. Meera his sister hero worshipped Jai who was just two years younger to him. She had such a huge crush on him. Jai was not aware of it initially but when he came to know of that he had told her that they could only be friends. But Meera could never accept that. She always tried to get in between the numerous girl friends Jai had kept. But Jai had brushed it aside as her childish behavior. But Mohan saw that he was loosing his little sister and he had once confronted with Jai about it. And Jai was quite sure about his relationship with Meera and he even told Mohan that he had explained to her about it and beyond friendship nothing could happen between them. Mohan was now all the more upset with Jai.

And when Meera saw Jai and Roshini together for the graduation party at college that night in drunken state Jai proposed to Roshini friends cheered them. It was just a part of a truth and dare game and a joke for the youngsters there between the college beauty and the handsome rake. But there was a girl whose dreams were shattered and she tried to commit suicide and she lost her mental balance for a while. It was only by the grace of God that Meera was saved. Mohan was distraught. And somewhere he blamed Jai for his sister's downfall and mishap. They had moved to the U.S. After that Meera too moved on but it took long while for her. But somewhere she lived on the hope that Jai would come to love her as she had often seen his associated with different woman. But then a blow came to her when it was announced that he married a girl within the family circle. Meera was intrigued with his choice because it was a deviation from the entire previous woman in his life. So finally when she returned to India as her brothers current project brought him back to the town she had left years ago with a broken heart. She wanted to meet the man you made her heart beat go faster. Yes even today one look form him could make her heart beat faster.

Though Jai never knew the reasons for Meera's ill health He came to know that she had gone for treatment to the U.S. and now he was happy to see her as the same bubbly girl he once knew or so he thought.

Now we move to the present state were Jai's and Bani's ego clashes

Chapter 24 A

The conflict did not escalate too much as Jai was willing to give in a little and Bani was not totally against the town ship as it provided a development for the whole area and the old age home was moved to a site little further down. But for the first time Jai had conceded to someone and that didn't go unnoticed by all of them. Jigyasa was the first one to taunt saying that now Jai has become his biwi's slave. Which only got a cold stare from her brother And Adi could only give a disgusting look.

In the office one morning after the meeting of the board members.

Jigs: I just don't get it how come my brother was willing to such an extent. Adi learn something from him how to keep ones wife happy.

Adi: I thought you had your brother who took care of all your needs then why did you need a husband like me.

Jigs: Oh looks like someone has not liked my comment. I wonder how long you are going to slave around them. The girl who came yesterday knows to speak up and get her way out but you working your life out didn't even get close.

Adi: You are forgetting something here let me remind you one she is Jai's wife and she is the co owner of many of the ventures.

Jigs: You were his best friend and guide once upon a time. Major decisions were taken by the both of you. But now you have turned into a mere employee and slaving your day and night do you expect your kids too to do the same…

Adi had enough for one morning so he just walks out with the last word

But all things didn't go well. Jigs was not a one to keep her mouths closed. When Lakshmi Pooja was being held and Bani became slightly delayed as she was stuck up in the traffic. Jigs used that opportunity to instigate against massi and dadi. Jai too was not happy that Bani was getting delayed. Jigs used it a good time to bring out that now she is busy with business and her new friends Mr. Deb and Daksh with who she is planning an art exhibition. Only Adi spoke in support of her saying unlike some people she is not having a royal time she works hard and also tries to make time for family and others instead of just partying.

Jai on the other hand was not pleased with his wife being associated with so many men. He knew the gossip circle going around now days as she was seen in some parties with Mr. Deb as Jai was out of town. Though Bani gave to him a word to word detail of what happens. Still the feeling of being left out crept into Jai's mind and it did not go unnoticed my massi.

Massi: I think we will tell the pundit to start off Jai. It's not good to delay the pooja.

Just then Bani enters. I am sorry I am late. I just had to go a little out of the way to get the things for the "dhan" after the pooja. She just directly gave it to massi telling her she could decide how she wants to give the small gold coins and prayer books along the Prasad.

In short that day Bani had won the hearts. But that didn't happen always.

And Jai often was impatient now that Bani seemed to be too busy and had less time for him. But then Bani reminded him that it was he who wanted her to be a part of the office. Finally others too started to feel the tension. As Jai was now mostly back to his grouchy mood. And Bani often couldn't make it at the appointed time for family gatherings and she had to delay things. Sometimes people had to wait for her to turn up at meetings which didn't go well with everyone. So massi decided to really have a talk with her as she had come with the dress for Anu to wear for her fancy dress.

Anu: Wow Bani di has come with my dress. See massi I told you she promised.

Bani: Why poppet thought I wouldn't get it.

Anu: Massi said you are busy so must have forgotten. But I knew my didi will never forget.

Massi: I was just trying to pacify her restlessness as Jai had called to say the meeting was delayed as the delegates wanted a review done up. And you know this one pointing at Anu how she is After the call she had 101 questions.

Bani: ahem ha massi now a days you have your Munna has become so paly so why Bani eh

Massi: Anu go and try it on. Tell the nanny to keep it nicely for the evenings function.

Anu: Thank you Bani di you are great and Massi my Bani di is the best isn't she.

Massi: Yes she is, Massi smiled but Bani for the first time felt her massi had to tell her something.

Bani: What happened, Massi? It not the delay to get the dress that has got you serious. Something is bothering you.

Massi: Why Bani, You don't have to worry about the old lady I have been taking care of myself for along time.

Bani felt a bit hurt with that remark.

Bani: Massi not fair I know you are strong and healthy but then you don't seem to be very cheerful old self.

Massi: What's there so much to cheer about

Bani: Come on Massi, What are you saying. Your Munna also now smiles more than you.

Massi: Does he

Bani: Of course. Why did he tell you something?

Massi: My little boy had stopped opening up to me ages ago. Finally I found someone to whom he was opening up but then looks like that person too is drifting away form him.

Bani Looking at Massi directly into her eyes, what are you trying to imply here Massi.

Massi: Are you trying to act ignorance or you really don't know.

Bani: You should know that I never lie to you. I thought Jeet was happy and you know even though he never says it out loud I know somewhere deep down, he not only cares for me but also loves me a lot.

Massi: Glad to see that you have noticed so many things about my Munna but all that wouldn't be enough to keep you bound to one another.

Bani: Why not you said love is what binds a person to one another.

Massi: Yes but you need to nurture it and allow to grow and flourish. Don't you think so.

Bani: I know that and now he really tries to make time for family and lot of other things.

Massi: Yes he tries but still his eyes always searches for one person and that is you have you ever thought about it. My Munna has started to believe and love in someone again he is opening up to emotions which he had locked up within him for years.

Bani: That's good Massi, then what's the problem and you wanted that to happen..

Massi: Yes He has started to feel again now I fear what would happen if he loose himself out.

Bani: Why Massi you feel that he is losing I promised you I would always be by his side. And I am never one to break a promise.

Massi: promises and love will not be enough, when barriers set in, the only thing that accounts for is the time you spent with one another and the happy moments also the trust you share. So take it from me don't repeat the mistakes I made. Be there for him that's all what he needs.

Bani: Massi he knows that and he knows he can count on me. I never do anything against his wish. If you are talking about the land deal that happened a month back In fact Jeet knew about my view and what I would do. It was he himself who came up with the alternate plan.

Massi: Yes that time you were able to convince him and see things through your eyes but have you tried to see through his perspective how much of alteration she had to do to his original plan.

Bani; I know all that Massi in fact I was so glad that he was willing to go the extent to hear me out.

Massi: Yes once you were lucky enough to reach solution. But do you think always it would be this way. And people are there to take utmost advantages of your indifferences. And at a time of your down fall no one would come to your rescue. You yourself would be blamed for it. So I am telling you now try and be with him more and you always have to represent a joint front in front of others.

Bani: Are you telling me to put up an act. Why should I? Jeet understands me very well and he is happy the way I am.

Massi: Are you certain. Just because he doesn't raise his opinions right on to your face doesn't mean everything is great try to read between lines. And one more thing Bani like I have said before my Munna has suffered a lot another blow he will not be able to take it well and if you are the reason for it I don't think I will ever be able to forgive myself nor you. As I am one of the reasons you are together.

Bani: I don't think it will ever come to that Massi you are getting hyped up over nothing. And Massi now even we are trying for a baby you know. Just the other day we had gone to the doctor and she said now she said I have no problems in conceiving.

That news brought a smile on Massi's face

Massi: I would be waiting for the good news and hurry up other wise Munna will be delayed for his lunch. I have packed some specials for him

Bani: Wha worried about Munna still when I am the one who gives you all things to be happy about. And you never even ask now a days what I want.

Massi: Don't worry when you carry my grandchild I will get you something daily.

Bani: Oh so now I have to get myself pregnant to get goodies from you. What an unjust ice. I should have remained as the little girl you took upon I feel it had lot of advantages.

Massi: Stop being a drambaaz I know half the goodies I sent are eaten by you. And my Munna never even bothers to look at them.

Bani: You and your Munna God help me. When do I stop being the bridge between the two of you.

Though Bani left from there with a smiling face a question was now nagging at the back of her head was that Is her Jeet not happy with her. So that night she had directly gone ahead and asked him about it. Jai had smiled and just passed it off as a silly question from her. But then the next day he called up Massi to ask what talk did she have Bani and he made it quite clear to her that he didn't like a third person interfering in their life.

Massi was worried about that the most. Bani was very innocent and she quite openly goes and tells him everything But the thing is that is if her Munna is that open minded about his wife she had also seen traits of possessiveness in him as a child itself what he considered his won he cherishes it and doesn't like anyone trying to even have a look at it. So his wife who is lively, friendly and open to all is a deadly combination for him. Its true opposites attract but here. The question would be will that suffice to make both of them keep their head above water. Bani is quite busy with lot of things after college and now she attends lot of functions hence her friend circles have increased and often she is photographed with various peoples. And for most of the parties now Jai doesn't attend as he might be out of town. But Bani always keeps tabs for him.

Massi had a big worry would Jai it that way.

Massi's fears slowly started getting to be true. They were trying for a child and no positive sign was coming in. And to top that she was now busy. So once in a while Jai snapped at her for not taking care of her properly and he was not happy with the things at home. What Bani could never understand was never before her Jeet complained but as now small thing irritated him and so she really tried hard to be extra careful. And she also had a deep down feeling that the fact that though Jeet never said anything about her not conceiving in spite of planning on starting on a family for six months. Which raised some kind of fear in her that she was loosing him?

In the mean while Deb had become her best friend. She never told him about their indifferences but he could make out something's were bothering her. Her smile would be missing she could lighten up a person's day by just smiling and talking away. The days she was upset with Jai her work also would get affected and any person could make out the change. And Though Deb tried to lend an ear to her problems Bani never opened up. Deb felt it was not a good thing and may be he should talk to Jai. He didn't want to find Jai in the same situation he is today.

So one day casually when Jai had come to pick Bani from the gallery Deb vouched on the topic as Bani was busy with a client. The meeting turned up to be a bigger disaster. Jai couldn't believe Deb was giving him tips on how to run his married life who himself failed in his.

Deb: I know Jai what you are thinking and precisely that is the reason I am trying to tell you. Try to know her before it is too late.

Jai: OH so now I have to get to know my own wife from you.

Deb: Jai you are getting me wrong

Jai: Oh really has she been coming up and telling you something.

Deb: Jai is that what you think about her I pity you then….

Jai: Deb one thing keep the opinions to yourself and all marriages have their good days and bad days. That doesn't mean you come in-between to sort things for us. And stay away from her. I will not allow you to spoil another life like Nandini's.

Deb: You are not getting the point. I see another Nandini in the making

Jai: Wait hold on right there. Are you confusing my wife with Nandini stop it right there. You are just associates and as husband I am there for her she doesn't need another life partner. So stay away and take this as a warning.

Jai walks away from there and just then Bani comes in and seeing the serious expression on Jai's face she asked what the problem is.

Jai: Why is it that everyone things I am surrounded with problems? Can't a guy have a little hic cups here and there. Or is it that you think all days have to be great and smooth like your friend here.

Bani not expecting a jumpy and rash reply from him.

Bani: I am sorry I was just worried that's all.

Jai: You worry a lot now a days no wonder nothing seems to be working for you these days and I get blamed for it.

Bani: I am not complaining. And Bani was almost close to tears one thing Jai still couldn't stand was tears in her eyes.

Jai: Now don't start please I am also sorry for snapping can we go for the dinner now.

Bani just then goes and freshens up to go out for dinner. But she knew when Jai walked in things weren't so bad so what happened in the 10 minutes she went talk with her client Did Deb and Jai have an exchange of words She planned to question him the next morning. But she did not have to wait that long. That night they had a major fight and for the first time Jai was about to raise his hand on her. Which Bani had least expected It was like an emotional blow to her.

They were seated in a restaurant when his old time friend Meera came up to him in a hug and greeted him. Along with her was her brother Mohan. Bani had the privilege to meet Mohan two three times as he visited the art gallery for the paintings to his new house.

Bani didn't like him much first of all he was a born flirt and the looks he gave her, gave the wrong vibes. And now his sister seemed to be too cozy with Jai did not go to well with her. She kept tight lipped during the entire conversations. And she answered in monosyllables

Meera: Looks like your wife is really shy one. Heard you had married but never pictured her to be like this.

Jai: Oh then how did you expect it to be.

Meera: Some one with a grand taste and lifestyle. You always associated with people with an aura and different class so was expecting to have the same kind of life partner too.

Jai putting an arm around Bani: Don't go by her demure looks and soft spoken way. She can be a different person when she chooses to be. Winking at Meera she is a tigress, your brother has got a good taste of it. For all the flirting he did with my wife.

Meera: Ehm my God bro here too you both are trying to get attention of the same girl. You know from College days they use to have this bet who would get the girl first.

Bani: Well nice to know that I was not put up for bet I'm already Mrs. Jai Walia not some girl.

Jai was quite taken back by that remark as normally when anyone teased them Bani went along with it to say she had finally got him hooked to her. She said it with pride. But this time she said it with anger and a clear distaste of company was indicated in her behavior.

Meera: Looks like your wife doesn't enjoy our humor sense.

On the whole the dinner turned out to be an ordeal after Bani's remarks. And the drive back home was in silence. There was an under current of emotions which was bottled up in both of their minds. A slight spark was enough

Jai was not pleased with Bani's behavior and confronted about it as she came out of the bathroom. Moreover he wanted Bani to get to know Meera as Mohan said they have finally decided to move in here and she was finding it lonely as all other friends have moved on and settled here and there. Once they went to U.S. they lost touch with most of them

Bani: Jeet please I had a long day and I'm in no mood for fight today.

Jai: I'm not for a fight I just want to know why you are so ticked off by Meera. You just met her and couldn't you be cordial at least with her.

Bani: If you expect me to smile and be courteous with all the girl friends of your past I am sorry.

Jai: I expect you to talk with some respect here the girl whom you met today has come back after a treatment. And it was nice to see her in good health instead of that you are jealous for some unknown reason.

Bani: Please any blind person could see that she was trying to hit on you.

Jai: Wow I don't know what's with you Bani these days first Roshini then there was Shonali and to date I haven't exactly being throwing tantrums in public over the men in your life.

Bani: Don't shift blame on to me? Just because your friends happen to be an open flirt it doesn't mean that I have to tolerate them.

Jai: I wasn't referring to Mohan here What about Deb he seems to be more than your friend now days.

Bani: Please not on that road again. I thought we had sorted that ages ago. And let me remind you he is still mourning the loss of his dead wife.

Jai: Oh that's great then why was he trying today to tell me to listen to you and try to make time for you. When my own wife doesn't have time for me. And she hates to be around my friends.

Bani: I have no problem with your friends as long as they are not eyeing to rekindle their long lost love life with my husband.

Jai: What do you take me for a fool? And off late I see you pictured more with other men.

Bani: So now someone seems to get a bit jealous. And counter blaming me. While you philandering ways are just seen as an adventure.

Jai: You are my wife and most importantly all those woman were the past and you knew about all these woman and I haven't hid anything from you. So I don't think you have a reason to worry. Where as because of you I get to here and see things.

Bani: Care to explain that. As far as I know it takes a lot of effort to make all those gossips die down because you are still seen with various woman. Like today your once upon a time girlfriend said you were associated with the most beautiful woman and successful etc. What made you choose a girl like me Jai. Was it because I was just a little girl like I am always referred too.

Jai: How many times do I have to tell you that she wasn't my love interest and stop dragging her name into your insecurities. And the fact correct here compare to me yes you are young. Rather than me being insecure here you seem to be worried of the age gap. Or do you feel I am now too old for your liking. May be someone like Daksh was better.

Bani: Don't drag name's unnecessarily. You know he is dating someone else.

Jai: Alright I hope at least this one lasts longer then the previous one.

Bani: You don't have to be so cynical.

Jai: Alright then lets mend what's happened to night

Bani: Like what do you have in mind.

Jai: when you see Meera next time apologize for today's behavior. And I was expecting to help her get acquainted again with the city and friend circle through you.

Bani: Apologize my foot. First as though the brother was not enough now comes the sister and if you think I am going to chauffer one of your girl friends around for your convenience you are highly mistaken. She rather spoke loudly

That had Jai blow in full rage

He just got hold of Bani and pulled Bani close to him. That she could feel every breath he was taking and also his eyes was now red with anger.

Jai: What the hell are you accusing me off? And don't dare to speak to me that way.

Bani was equally mad that she just spat out at him

Bani: Well I do not want to be some woman that warms your bed at night. I like to be…

Bani didn't get to complete that sentence as she felt Jai's hand on her face and he just pushed her on to the bed and walked away from the room.

He needed a stiff drink to clear his head or if he stood here more he would do something drastic which he would regret later.

woooh.... great ego clash... the main problem is what jai sees, bani doesnt and what bani sees, jai doesnt... both are right in their own perspectives... and both are wrong in fact... great... well, i dint expect him to raise his hand...

i wonder how Masi helped her to get away from him, when now, she was speaking in favor of jai...
