Which is your favorite MBh retelling? Right now, it is probably Parva for me. Though it's a bit depressing.

I like Parva too. Fantastic rendition, though a few creative liberties I did not like.

I also like Aryavarta Chronicles by Krishna Uday Shankar. Both the retellings treat all characters as humans, and that's the best thing I like.

I like Aryavarta Chronicles too.

Any favorites among characters? The whole plot is so delicious I can never decide! That's why I think it was part real and part myth. Only real life can be that complicated 😆

How come most of these shows that have karna's name like Maharathi Karna, Mrityunjay, Suryaputra karn, karn sangini etc etc don't show ANYTHING ABOUT KARNA'S LIFE? THey focus more on the pandavas all of these shows are only using karna's name to create fakebharatas. It's not going to be about karna at all.

The reason is quite simple. Most of the Mahabharata follows Pandavas. There isn't much information available on Karna or his life. The names of his wives aren't mentioned. What he did while the Pandavas were in varnavart, or while they were building Indraprastha is not given. Obviously fake stories need to be created.

I think all fictional redentions need to take creative liberties. Otherwise what's the point of writing a book? It would only be a translation. But there must be an extent and some logic to the libeetuli taken.
Parva is great. And Aryavarta Chronicles too but my only peeve with these books is that they are at times biased.

In Aryavarta Chronicles, definitely Govinda n Panchali as they were protagonists. In Vyasa's Mahabharata, I like Krishna n Bhishma among the men. I like almost all females, bit Shakuntala is my favourite. I draw inspiration from her speech very often. 😆My hubby is like

Yes it is Creative Liberty that makes a book beautiful. But sometimes the liberties are too much to take.

Sometimes I prefer plot-based retellings than character-based ones. Character-based novels are beautiful to read no doubt...be it Mrityunjay or Palace of Illusions or Arjun Without a Doubt...but at times, writers get carried away and tend to overjustify the protagonist.

I feel sad for real wife of karna that some writer is using her and twisting her story. Karna wife is not named in mahabharat and she was never proposed by Arjuna. It is sad that for some money and Trp people have destroyed great epic of Mahabharat where draupadi falls in love with karna in one novel and Arjuna proposes to karna's wife in other novel. It seems that people love to malign image of such great characters. I strongly oppose this serial as such serial be it chandranandini on Chandragupta maurya or karna sangini on karna's wife is gross injustice to iconic characters.
