Oh wow... Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate your comments... Just afraid to bore you guys... but heres another attempt... By the way, some one asked about my age (sorry can't recall who), but I'm 19.
recap: He stared at her for what seemed like an endless second and then slowly took her hand and took the bangles.. gently pushing them onto her small wrists.. His action stunned her... and she felt paralyzed... completely unable to react... "Shiv ko kya hogaya hai?" she thought... and with the final bangle, he gently let go of her hand, gave her an expressionless look, went to the bed, grabbed his suitcase and went out the door, turning only at the door to say, "office mein important meeting hai, neeche jaldi aa jao, hume jaldi nikal na hai"...
Part 3
"Click, click click" of his frusterated fingers rung in the quiet cabin. Gauri had used Shashank's cabin for a few months when one day unexpectedly, Mahen had made a surprise visit. At the realization that Gauri had been assigned another cabin despite him making it clear to Shiv that she shall use his until hers was constructed (it had for some reason been taking the contractors much time to attend this much delayed project.. perhaps at the word of someone who desired the husband-wife to work together), Mahen had been outraged. From that point on, a separate desk had been arranged for Gauri in the same cabin as Shiv, irritating him to no bounds... until perhaps now.
She sat twiddling the pen between her fingers and stared at the file sitting open in front of her. In spite of trying her hardest, concentration did not come easy. Her thoughts silently drifted to the events of this morning and this created odd feelings within her, which she tried not to acknowledge...
"Ahh" his cry of pain hit her sharp in the chest as she looked up to see him throwing his pen on the desk and leaning back into his chair. Immediately her feet automatically proceeded towards him. A deep concern arose as she came to comfort his paining hand.. but he held back. Shiv had been typing on his laptop in great frusteration and now was attempting to write something which had caused his wounded hand to burst into pain once again. As she brought her hand forth to his, he pulled his back effortlessly... "mein teekh hoon" he said in an irritated tone of voice... He was lying, she could feel it... Why is he like this, so harsh on himself and others... she thought in pain as she moved back. As she turned to leave, something made her turn. "Sh..iv, agar aapko koi aitraaz na ho... toh mein aapki tohri madat karoon?" came the fragile voice. He had momentarily stared straight ahead and at the sound of her voice, turned to face her. She was averting her eyes from his, but he could for some reason tell that she really wanted to help... "Kyun?" was all he could think. After all that he had done, she had always come around only for helping him. Some guilt knob had been touched deep within him as he felt her eyes awaiting his answer. He looked away, for some reason unable to look her in the eye... "N..nahin, its ok... mein kar loonga" he stammered. A look of what seemed to be disappointment washed over her face. Why had she even bothered? As she turned to go, again, his pained voice made her footsteps cease to move forward. Her eyes closed momentarily... it was pain alright, but an unfamiliar sort...
Slowly she turned and brought a chair up next to him, startling him... with much courage, she managed to take the pen from his hand... he had been to stunned to react. Before he was able to do anything, she completed the quotation from the laptop and transferred it onto the paper... thus they completed their first task together in the office... at some point, she had ended up typing as he played words to her for a client... Nothing but the click of the keys and his soft, husky voice rang in the room... She had lost herself completely... the world was shut out... even for him, as he turned to face her, one leg resting over the other, nothing else seemed to exist... except for her. She had opted for an deep orange sari today and the bangles he had adorned her hands with clinked each time she brought her hand over the keyboard... for a moment, that was he heard... the air conditioning all of a sudden seemed to have startled her as she rubbed her right hand along the length of her left arm... or so that is what he had thought as the air softly sang through her beautiful hair... She could feel him intensely gazing at her, even without not looking over... an uncomfortable feeling increased as silence rang in the air... he had stopped talking... but she could still feel those eyes... they burned through her... for a moment, she felt transparent...
Cheers,
