'Next level?' Nandini asked softly looking at Manik.

'Yes...' Manik said looking with a gentle smile on his face 'Love..' Nandini looked into Manik's eyes eagerly as he waited for an answer.

'Love?' Nandini whispered after Manik as she gazed into his eyes dreamily.

'Hmm..' Manik hummed in approval as he gently touched her cheek. 'You know Nandini...in my heart love was something which I felt is illusion. True love cannot happen...true love is only in fairytales...movies, dramas...it's not real..'

Nandini listened to Manik's words her heart throbbing fast.

'In my life..I met with a girl...I loved her deeply...but...she was not meant for me...but my love was true for her. That love caused me pain..a pain which tears my heart into pieces even to this day. I thought that if ever I feel anything towards any girl..I will kill that feeling off..and maybe that is why I never wanted any girl close to me. The two girls whom I allowed to get closer to me...is Mukti and Alya. They are my friends...Fab 5 members...so I consider them a very important part of my life. They are true to me and I know that they will stand by me. I know that nothing can separate them from me.

Manik held her hand and smiled at her.

'But then..I heard your voice...your voice over phone when U were listening to the songs of Fab 5. U had a very bad impression of me...U felt that I was full of myself, arrogant, wearing sunglasses during shows...runs away from fangirls. Your frankness...the way U showed me the image that possibly a lot of girls had of me...made me feel attracted to you. I felt that here is somebody who will show me the mirror and tell me Manik..this is how you are. That honesty is what made me want to meet you.' Manik said with a smile on his face.

Nandini was speechless. She didn't know what more to say anymore and her heart beat wildly against her chest.

'You know..when I got to know that you are coming to Mumbai...I was so excited..I couldn't sleep all night. I wanted to meet this girl who fought with me over phone...cried for me and I don't know when U crept into my life, Nandu' Manik said getting closer to her as his fingers moved down her cheeks going around her neck and entangling themselves in her hair. Manik cupped Nandini's cheek with his other hand as he looked with love into her eyes.

'Nandini...would you like to take our relation to a next level? Would you like to be my girlfriend?' Manik asked looking into Nandini's eyes eagerly. Nandini lost her voice, her senses..herself...she didn't know what to reply to this proposal.

'M..Manik..wo' Nandini managed to mumble.

'Shh...' Manik said pressing his finger on her lips looking at her lips. 'I don't need an answer now..I know you are not ready...I know you are confused with your own feelings. I myself am confused with the feelings I am going through. But I know within that whatever I'm feeling...it is love' Manik said with a look of determination on his face. 'I know I'm moving really fast...I should be taking our relationship step by step. I know...I should be giving ourselves time. I will do it..I will not force you into anything. I know...that even now you are not aware of what sort of a person Manik Malhotra is...and our relationship has not reached a point where you can trust me completely.'

'Manik..I trust you..' Nandini whispered suddenly making Manik's eyes go wide with surprise and then they softened to have a grateful look in them.

'Thanks, Nandu...thanks for trusting me...but many things may come in our future...which may shake that trust..nothing is permanent and at some point if you heart is shaken by something you see...I hope that along with your heart..your trust won't be shaken. I want this promise from you' Manik said holding Nandini's hand in his.

'Manik..aise kyon bol rahe ho?' Nandini asked with a perplexed look in her eyes.

'Mere past...it had an ugly chapter in it..which I'm trying to tear off my life. I will have to fight with that and for fighting against the negativity..I need your help..I need your positivity..I need your trust to stay strong. Can you be my side always, Nandu?' Manik asked eagerly cupping her cheek with his hand.

'Can you be my side always? Ayyappa..kaise question Manik ne pooch liye..future ka pata nahi..ek na ek din shayad Mumbai chodke jaana padega..hamesha ke liye tho yahan nahi reh paaoongi na..Amms ke paas wapas jaana padega' Nandini thought with a perplexed look in her eyes.😕

'Manik..' Nandini mumbled placing her palm over Manik's palm which was cupping her cheek.

'Bolo Nandu...will you be with me always?'

'No...' Nandini mumbled with a perplexed look on her face.

'Why?' Manik asked getting closer to her.

'Mujhe wapas Chennai jaane padenge..Amms ke paas...I can't be always with you' Nandini mumbled looking away.

'When I said be with me forever..I meant to be in touch with me always...to be connected to me. Even if there is physical distance between us..I want us to stay connected by our hearts, Nandini..' Manik said trying to make Nandini understand the meaning of his words. 'So will you stay with me always through a heart connection? Will you think about me..like I think about you?'

'Manik...jab se tumse mili hoon...main tumhe dil se hi nahi nikaal paayi...ek raat bhi nahi guzre..jab maine tumhaare baare main nahi soche...ek din bhi nahi guzre..jab maine Ayyappa se tumhaare liye pray nahi kiye..' Nandini mumbled losing her own control over her heart. She no longer was aware what she was saying to Manik. Manik smirked suddenly as he got closer to her.

'Can I kiss you?' Manik whispered in a husky voice looking at her lips.

'No...' Nandini said looking into his eyes with a confused look on her face.

'Why?' Manik whispered back.

'Because...its too fast'

Manik looked into her eyes and suddenly he smirked and backed off.

'Hmm...so Nandu..what do you want our next level in friendship to be?' Manik asked with a smile on his face.

'Friendship..'

'Wo tho already hum hai..we became friends'

'Friends...tho hum aaj bane...but to be friends we must know each other more and we must understand each other' Nandini tried to make Manik understand.

'Hmm...ok! Let's get to know each other! Wait a moment!' Manik said as he took his phone out and dialed a number.

'Haan Ramu kakka..bring two cups of Cappuccino and some chips...to my favourite spot' Manik said with a smirk looking at Nandini and cut the call.

'Favourite spot?' Nandini asked with a smile on her face.

'Haan this is my favourite spot in the entire world' Manik said with a smile.

'Manik...have you seen the entire world?'

'No..'

'Then how can you say that its your favourite spot in the entire world?'

'Because I don't need to travel the entire world to know my favourite spot...I just need to realize it myself..just like the fact that I don't need to meet all the girls in the world to find the one I want to be with..my heart decides for me' Manik said with a smile on his face.

Nandini looked away shyly as she noticed the way Manik was looking meaningfully at her.

'Manik...what's your favourite food?'

'All kinds'

'Favourite colour?'

'Red'

'Favourite flavour?'

'Vanilla'

'Favourite singer?'

'Kishore Kumar'

'Favourite actor?'

'Aamir Khan..wait..why is it one way traffic? I mean it should be you asking me and then me asking you right? Friendship is give and take. So now once again..ask me the questions' Manik said with a smirk.

'Ok..favourite food?'

'All kinds and yours?'

'I love curd rice'

'Hmm curd rice? Wo tho maine kabhi khaya hi nahi..' Manik said with a confused look on his face.

'Main banaake doongi na! Ek din ghar pe aana..main tumhaare liye curd rice banaaoongi'

'Achcha? Mujhe na poore life curd rice khaane hai..it's now my favourite food!' Manik said with a smile looking at Nandini.

Nandini smiled as her cheeks turned red ☺️

'Ok back to rapid fire round..hmm ask!' Manik said once again.

'Favourite colour?'

'Red and yours?'

'Green!'

'Koi reason?'

'Because I love nature. Mujhe na..plants, animals..bahut pasand hai..I love to be with nature.'

'Achcha? So I brought you to the right spot..yahan pe plants bhi hai..and look over there' Manik pointed to a bushy part where suddenly fireflies started glowing.

'Wowww! Fireflies' Nandini said with a huge smile on her face.

'Manik wherever fireflies hote haina..it signifies..' Nandini stopped midway realizing that she cannot complete those words.

'It signifies?' Manik asked looking at Nandini.

'It signifies..positivity..brightness'

'So are you a firefly?' Manik asked with a smile.

'No..I'm not a firefly...firefly dies away..' Nandini said with a little pout on her lips.

'Then...you are a star...'

'No..stars also disappear..' Nandini mumbled looking at the sky.

'No Nandu..stars don't disappear...its our eyes that don't see them. They are always there shining for us. Even if you are with me in front of my eyes..or at home..away from me...I can always see you shining'

'How can you see me?'

'We don't see with our eyes...its our heart that sees..my heart sees you' Manik said with a smile. Nandini looked into Manik's eyes. Those were the most sincere eyes that she had ever seen. The eyes that spoke their true feelings even before the lips whispered them.

Ramu Kakka suddenly appeared with two cups of Cappuchino. Nandini got up from there and walked over to Ramu kakka to get the tray from him.

'Nahi beti...main rakh loonga'

'Aap please mujhe de deejiye..aap bade ho...tho aapko hamari seva nahi karni chahiye..humko aapki karni chahiye'

'Nahi beti...hum naukar hai..tho hum malik ke seva karte hai.'

'Aapne mujhe beti bulaaye tho please tray de deejiye na' Nandini said in a pleading tone.

Manik hinted to Ramu kakka to give her the tray. Ramu kakka smiled silently and gave the tray to her.

'Aap bhi aaiye na hamare saath...'

'Nahi beta hum aap dono ke liye cappuccino laaye hai' Ramu kakka said with a smile.

'Ramu kakka..koi problem nahi! Aap ek cup le leejiye we'll share this one' Manik said with a little smirk. Nandini looked with a shocked expression at Manik.

'Nahi bete..abhi tho tum dono ke liye khaana bana raha hoon'

'Khaana?' Nandini asked looking with confusion at Manik.

'Ya..Nandu..abhi yahan aaye ho..tho how can I let you go before we have our dinner? Dinner karke hi chalenge na..phir I'll drop you home' Manik said with a smile.

Ramu kakka nodded and went away from there. Nandini placed the tray of Cappuccino and gave one of the cups to Manik. Manik took the cup from her hand. Nandini frowned slightly as she took her cup of Cappuccino.

'Manik...tumne Ramu kakka ke saamne aise kyon bole?'

'Kaise?'

'Ke hum dono ek hi cup se Cappuccino share karenge..' Nandini mumbled with a tiny pout of fake anger.

'Hmm...friends share..and we can share from one cup na? You take a sip and then I take a sip.'

'No..'

'Kyon?' Manik asked with a confused expression on his face. 'Ohhh abhi samajh aaya'

'Kya?' 😲 Nandini asked with a shocked expression on her face.

A naughty smirk appeared on Manik's face as he got closer to her and whispered in her ears 'You are afraid of the indirect kiss' 😛

'Indirect kiss?? M..matlab kya hai tumhaara?' Nandini asked suddenly with a voice of shock.

'Haan..my lips touch this cup..and then your lip touches this cup...you'll kiss my lips indirectly na?' Manik said with a smirk. 😛

Nandini blushed and she really wanted to run away from there to hide the red glow that's appearing on her cheeks.

'No..' Nandini mumbled looking away.

'Ok back to our rapid fire..' Manik said sipping casually on his Cappuccino.

'Hmm...' Nandini tried to remember where she stopped last.

'My favourite flavour is Vanilla and yours?' Manik helped Nandini with a little naughty smile on his face.

'Chocolate'

'Sweet..' Manik said with a smile.

'Kya?'

'Chocolate..very sweet' Manik said biting his lower lip naughtily.

'O..ok..' Nandini mumbled as she fidgeted nervously sipping on the cappuccino. 😕

'Hmm..your favourite actor?' Nandini continued after she remembered the question.

'Aamir Khan and yours?'

'Parth Samthaan' Nandini said as her lips curved into a smile.

'Like seriously? What do you like about him?' Manik asked with a frown on his face.

'Tall hai..fair hai..handsome hai..lips ke oopar kala til hai' Nandini said with a smile as she placed the cup on the tray and licking the froth around her lips.

'Main bhi tho tall hoon..fair hoon..achcha khaasa handsome hoon aur mere lips ke oopar bhi kala til hai..ye dekho' Manik said pointing to the mole just above his lip.😛😆

'Haan...its so similar..' Nandini said looking carefully at the mole above his lip. Manik took her hand in his and placed her fingers on his mole. Nandini looked at him as she flustered by that touch. Manik gently kissed on her fingers as he closed his eyes. 😉

'M..Manik...' Nandini said as she pulled away her hand nervously.

'Ok ya..speed is too much..slowing down' Manik said switching out of the touchy feely mood. 😆

Manik coughed slightly and looked at her and said..'so continue'

'Manik...who is your favourite singer?'

'Kishore da..and yours?' Manik asked sipping the last drop of Cappuccino and placing the cup on the tray.

'Manik Malhotra' Nandini said looking into Manik's eyes.

Manik's heart throbbed with excitement as he heard his name from Nandini's lips and saw admiration in her eyes.

'Wasn't it Dhruv few weeks back?' Manik asked suddenly trying to hide the smile that was spreading over his lips.

'No...I never realized who my favourite is..until I listened to you.' Nandini said as her lips curved into a smile.

'So now..its me?'

'Haan..'

'So...till when will I be your favourite singer?'

'You are my favourite singer..forever...hamesha' Nandini said as she smiled widely at him. Manik couldn't stop the excitement that filled his heart and he suddenly caught her shoulders and pulled her into a hug. His hug was tight and Nandini was in shock.

'Ayyappa!!!!!!!! What do I do now? He's hugging me...and my heart will now burst from the flood of feelings' 😕

Ayyappa knew how Nandini was feeling and he knew how Manik was feeling...he looked at the fireflies that glowed even more brightly as as beautiful smile shone on his face. 😳
