I (to be honest) disliked Boys Over Flowers and was a bit iffy when KY2 started to follow that plot, but where KY2 succeeded is in giving the characters back-stories and making them much more than simple plot movers between the main leads. This writer has given the characters realistic qualities and I think that's what matters so much.

The fact that we can all relate to each character and feel empathy towards them no matter WHO they are (be it Harshad, Alya, Mukti etc) - that's something that is so hard for a writer to maintain but they managed to do it. I'm so glad the writer is telling their story and like you said, not adjusting it for the viewer. And you know what - this is a complete slap to the face to all those shows that adjust for the audience.

If the writers KNOW what they are doing, then no matter what - the audience will begin to love what is happening. I was a Dhruv-Nandini shipper as well as a Manik-Nandini shipper, and even though there were a split between the two ships, the fact that today, in this thread more and more people are accepting MaNan as the end game, as the "it" couple, shows that this writer has done what others failed to do.

Sorry if I am over-quoting. Mobile mode is a bit...unnerving.

But I had to comment because this is so true. I always hated shows that changed their story lines, extended "scenes" of favorite couples and just turned a achha-khasa show into a garbage. MTV (it defines itself as the channel that your mother warned you about) has always shown extreme things. This seems to be their first fictional show in a while but I am glad they didn't change their reality theme. It was never scared to air conflicts and has connected to youth more than any other channel. The writer is too good and I just want the writer to keep going with deaf ears. It is best to show the actual plot they planned out then turn the show around to show what we can already predict.

I was never able to understand how people enjoy watching a very predictable track? Why would you watch something you can already think of in your head?

^^ I so agree!
Indian TV these days is SO repetitive, which the macho guy in the lead and the sometimes strong, sometimes weak heroine. The second leads turn evil later on and it just doesn't make sense. They show A and B but they don't show the journey from A to B.

The writer here is so clever; we all know that Manik (and Fab 5)has to given a chance to repent, but what I like here is that what we've been seeing Manik as all these 50 odd episodes, is not what he really is. And that was the most well thought, different thing on Indian TV. The fact that he KNOWS that Nandini didn't need saving and that the writer didn't feel that the character was too macho to say that!

I also have to give props to Alya's character. I hate her but like her at the same time. Like she's using Dhruv to get back with Manik but I can't help but feel that despite everything - she's so innocent - she's in this bubble that everything will be okay, and I actually don't care that she's using this method because it gives her character more layers. She's impulsive and does things hoping everything will become fine again - she's young and that's what makes her real. I know so many of you have said this but yeah, whether Alya and Dhruv become a couple or not - I'm still shipping them! These two are in for a heartbreak but you know what, I'm glad the writer has shown these two in a more intimate relationship (I don't mean love-wise lol but more on a thinking connection sort of level?)

Dhruv has always trusted Manik and Alya I feel hasn't really expressed herself more than the typical rich, yknow the fashion loving etc etc person - like when she was with Harshad in the pool and how she was talking about chocolate milkshake and Harshad was like he knows her as a fitness freak. I think Alya is stuck in this idealised representation of herself and hasn't really gotten out of it and now that she has no Manik besides her, the fact that her world is cracking, she's sort of like reaching out and desperate to getting back into that comfort zone. I'm glad with Dhruv maybe she can slowly show more of the real Alya? Honestly, I would be so glad if the writer showed Alya as having other hobbies than music and Fab 5- something completely different that what we see her as.

And like with Dhruv, he is such an introvert that even with Manik - it's Manik that's doing most of the pulling. That's why with Alya, it's like she's pushing him to get out of his comfort zone (don't you think it;s pretty ironic that Alya wants to get back to her comfort zone?) -- And their relationship, like Cabir and Mukti's is so natural, so normal that I can't help but love them.

I want to see more of these two people - and like I said even if they don't get together - i'll still be a shipper. (SIGH, I think I ship each and every one of them with others lol)

I REALLY wish my like button was working so I could like every darn post but it isn't. >.<
