An episode which actually made me cheer for every single character.
Alya and Dhruv were adorable. Specially Dhruv! This Dhruv, this light, happy, cheery Dhruv...he's just too darn adorable to be ignored. I can completely feel Alya when she reaches out and pats his head or goes all, "aww!" over him. Because that's exactly me. He's being so innocently adorable in this whole "totally crushing on Nandini" phase of his. Alya has taken the lead in everything which makes stuff more adorable for him because this guy is so darn clueless when it comes to girls. It was basically all rainbows and butterflies till Alya mumbled about her real intentions, of getting back with Manik. When she said it, the smile which was plastered on my face just faded. I feel for the two of them. They are so oblivious about what's going on around them actually and what's in store for them. But I love this whole progression, of keeping them and the ones they want in separate boxes till they merge and collide. It will give rise to some pretty interesting sequences.
Raghav-Cabir. Writers! HOW SO AMAZING?! I bloody love that they brought up all the problems which are just waiting for the two of them if they come out in open. Raghav has gotten me all confused today. Again. Because today I loved every single thing he said. I loved the way they were together. Alone, in their own little bubble. And the music that Raghav played <3 I wanted them to talk and talk calmly. And they did that today. Everything that Raghav brought up and the way Cabir agreed to them and decided to let it all go for some while, for once I did not find it problematic. There are two people who are in love with each other, want to be together, but they are acutely aware of the issues surrounding them. So, they choose to ignore and avoid and live in secret. Can I blame them? No. Never. I do that, I am pretty sure you guys do that as well. Any issue, anything which makes us happy and alive, we choose to live in it completely and shun the rest of the world. "Kal dekhenge ge." We will deal with it later. This later we so hate, this later that is so inevitable. Their later' is looming closer and closer. I think my heart will break for them when it comes. They are just so happy...
Say what you may but when they showed Harshad and Shahid all dressed up and coming to meet Navya, I cheered. I cheered and clapped. Catty said it yesterday that the beauty of this show is that how seemingly good guys have bad layers to them and the obvious bad guys have the empathy that good guys lack. I agree to that, yesterday was a deconstruction of the characters. But I found their bit today more precious. Cuz they are all humans. I am glad that Harshad and Shahid realized their mistake of laughing at Navya. They didn't leave her. Heck, they totally made a complete fool of themselves to go to her. I don't know what the consequences are going to be, probably Navya will again go back in her Harshad Sphere' but you know what? I am not thinking of that. I am thinking of Harshad. This guy...I have such a love/hate relationship with them. But it can't be denied that he's been my favorite character for the longest of times. Yes, he gets blinded when it comes to Fab5 and becomes such a lowly person but when it comes to his friends, the people who matter...when he takes them away from his Fab5 Obsession Circle and deals with them individually, Harshad is a gem of a person. It wasn't surprising for me, him going to Navya. Harshad has shown humane empathic tendencies before, with Rishabh. I am glad that he's still somewhat in the grey area and not totally black. Faith in him, restored. At least for now in this matter.
And the thing that has all my friends buzzing.
Today more focus was on Manik than Nandini and I welcomed it. Nandini was so talli today, but still adorable. I loved it how she made Manik run after her in the entire college. Though I was counting on them spending the night there but what we got was better. Not tropey or clichd so of course I loved it. I was saying in the DT today that heart-to-heart convo from them in this state would be a bit hard but drunk!Nandu has let go of her filters and walls so she will definitely ask him something and not say. And she asked him. Why does he follow her around every day? And the reaction from Manik? It was priceless. He can't answer this question when he asks it from himself and now tou even Nandini asked him. He hasn't faced this pull yet, he hasn't explained it, he hasn't confronted it. He lets the pull control him, take him where it desires and he never questions him. Someday he will, the day realization will follow. But for now, he's letting things be.
Why are you looking for me?
Oh, the way he turned the tables. Just after she asked him why he follows her, he disappeared for just some while and the panic on her face. Fine, he follows her. His mistake, his choice. But why does she look for him? The Monster Manik. The Manik Malhotra. Has he begun to affect her too? I loved the implications of this line. This why' that hangs between them. But they aren't ready, so not ready to talk about it.
The one thing, and I've said it before as well, that I love about the writing of the show is that past incidents aren't pushed under the rug once they are done. Things aren't used just for the heck of it, they actively shape the story and characters. They are brought back up, questioned, seen from a new perspective in light of recent development. Manik's bullying has always been THE big conflict and unresolved point in this story. How can we have a guy, so central to all the things happening in the show, and have him have such a irredeemable past baggage attached to him? It wasn't something light, it wasn't something ignorable. It was wrong and abhorring and something which always would've stung. The writers resolved it nicely. But I won't say much about it. Because in some way, I am conflicted. And also because I know you guys will talk about it in a much better way. I guess I am not that good at analyzing characters. This clarification, on one hand, sheds new light on the incidents in a logical way because what he said, had happened. Dhruv had been there as he had said. But it does, in no way, lessens the darkness of his actions. Because the victims didn't know they wouldn't be left for the worst of the pains. We didn't know that he had it all covered. The victims were lead to believe that all was over for them. More than the actual actions, the dread and thoughts they give us are what tortures us more. Manik's clarification doesn't make him a hero, he still did the bad things and he should be held accountable for that. Unless he introspects and genuinely realizes his mistakes, he can't be the ultimate hero some are considering him to be. Yes, it does shed more light on his leader' character that while he does indeed take charge of such actions, he also makes sure to not go overboard. Also that he presents himself as the wall and takes the blow. It tells us more about Fab5, about why they look up to him so much. Because he balances their actions. He gives them a chance to do what they wish while making sure that in the long term, no actual harm would be done to either them or their victims.
And it also gives more perspective about Manik-Nandini's journey as well. The fateful nature of their relationship comes in play. With them, nothing was planned. It was chain of events completely controlled by fate. From her punch to today, nothing has happened which was conscious effort from their side. It was all one thing led to another and now here they are...it makes me love them a bit more.
The last bit and the precap? Let's just say this is gonna be one heck of a torturous weekend for me.
