and have you ever noticed the bg scores on JA. Some of them really set the tone of the scene. I heard a new one very recently...was it in the DEK when Ruqs was making demands on Jalal ...

wonder if you'll catch one of those strains and tell us what the notes are saying... 😉

wow paddy what an idea 👏,divya can u please write on bg of ja ,these are some awesome one ,like hair on ur back of neck stands while listening to it .😳

Gr8 post Divs. In your list of Raagas there are 2 that I would add - 1. Durbar, for Jalal and for JA - for its sheer magnificence as a raaga - this is one raaga that is perfect for a stage rendering due to its sheer power and opulence - who can forget Sindhubhairavi movie where the fully sotted protagonist mucisian corrects a rival from the audience - also do hear Shafqat Amanat's kuch ajab khel kartar ke in the same raaga as a fusion composition. The 2nd raaga is my most favorite and again is both Akbar and the Akbar - Jodha relation (the way I see it and not this femnist version) and that is raaga Malkauns - the hindustani equivalent of Hindolam - who can forget the songs Tu chupi hai kahan main tadapta yahan and the song Aadha hai chandrama raat aadhi - both from navrang and the tradition tyagaraja song - Samaja vara gamana as rendered in Shankarabharanam - this raaga has it all - and hence is the perfect choice for depicting Ishq - do hear the coke Studio Pakistan rendering of 'ae Kangana' - it is amazing. There are others too but they are specific to carnatic genre and do not have a hindustani equivalent - but the one which I would give place here is raaga Anandabhairavi - and the composition for kuchipudi 'Bhamane Satyabhamane' - how I would have loved to see this in Jodha - but yes there is another traditional tyagayya song that does come to mind whcih at parts could match JA is 'Paluke bangara mayana' .

Your post is truly a labor of love and one reading is not enough to appreciate the intricacies for a musical novice like me. The passion and love as you juxtapose music with Jodha Akbar is very evident though.

Hummm where to start divya as I am complete anadi in this subject but with help of mr.google I am going to try and attempt how I feel about this eternal couple .u might find it scattered so be patience with me .
