Raag Maand evolved from Rajasthani folk music.

I love the two folk songs used in JA,
One during marriage rounds, I mean phere, something like,
suno, suno, var ji mhaari ek arji;
ek, ek phere, mhari laado ghar jaye tere...

and then Jodha's welcome song in Agra,
Sambhal, sambhal, pag dharo, padharo mangal dware;
Ho dulhin rani, padharo...

I would just like to post my views on the Maha Episode---(which I posted in Maddy's thread)

Regarding the Maha episode(ME), I would rather call it a Maham episode(ME).You know there is nothing "maha" in our MEs always 😆

You see it still contained some key points for me atleast, inspite of a filler episode.😉

"Highly sensitive people are too often perceived as weaklings or damaged goods. To feel intensely is not a symptom of weakness, it is the trademark of the truly alive and compassionate

The reason what I have for both Jodha and Jalal not able to identify Ruuqaiya's evil intentions is this- JAZZBAAT (Although Jalal partially has some scent of what Ruqaiyya is upto 😉 )

"Sometimes when you pick up your child you can feel the map of your own bones beneath your hands, or smell the scent of your skin in the nape of his neck. This is the most extraordinary thing about motherhood - finding a piece of yourself separate and apart that all the same you could not live without."

I see no wrong in Jodha's decision and her citing of example regarding how Shri Krishna was brought up by Devi Yashodha(provide that Ruqaiyya was not evil).Jodha very well understands that a women is only complete when she becomes a mother and that ehsaas is the most valuable gift of God from which Ruqaiyya was denied.

The iterations of Ruqaiyya's deeds are reflecting her evil intentions and I just hope Jalal gets the right cord and just terminates the loop by punishing her because-

"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."
Abraham Lincoln

So many people in the forum, having various views about Jodha telling lies and trying to save Maham.I do understand them and agree their POV regarding how Jodha must take care of herself in her pregnancy and how she should not go to Maham repetedly as she was the curser of the twins death and gaddar of Mughal Sultanate.

Yet,I have to say one thing here,

"I don't want to live in the kind of world where we don't look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I cant change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit. Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others."

As Jodha explains to Moti there is a factor called SANSKAAR and MANUSHYATA,waise kabhi, kabhi bhalai ke liye jhooth bola jaa sakta hai. Moreover Jodha had a reason that she wanted to give Maham Anga a reason to live.

For the leap(I am also not much eager to it as we have to see many things before it) I would like to anticipate the future happenings of the show with enthusiasm. 🥱

Until then folks-

"What we call the beginning is often the end.And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from."

T.S. Eliot

P.S: I have my doubts on both the farmaans,I reserve my comments for that.😉

A Nice post...And Episode was also fine...The Precap for Monday is again the hint...They have shown Jodha telling Ruqs about the names of two "expected DAUGHTERS" .. I think Ruqs will JUMP IN to suggest names of 2 BOYS....LOL

PS -- A slight correction..Vande Mataram isn't National Anthem..It is National Song..National Anthem is Tagore's - "Jana Gana Mana" , sung in 53 seconds.😊.

PPS -- Like you, i also have some connection with Music, a part of the choir/band in my institution.!! Have vocal training too..

PPPS -- I would like to see the Deepak Raaga of Tansen, which can light lamps..Also, Mian ki Mand, Mian ki Todi, and Mian Ka Sarang... My Fav is "Deepak Raaga" (not in your post ;p )..

Keeping the post short, have to hurry up...

Divya, I'm speechless.

I know very little about classical music. But the way you have written this post, is supremely awesome. And I'm awed. Bow to you..

I want to write more. But it's really a high time for me to call it a day now.

So here I'm reserving this space for a post..

But this one, what you have written here, is just superb yaar. Had a strange constriction in my throat while reading this.

All I want to say is Thank you Divya..

Exquisite, my dear Divya.

Thank you!

All through this labour of love (pun not intended!) , though I am not at all sure this Jalal can be compared to the Lord of Kailash, Raag Bhairav or no Raag Bhairav. And I do not think Parvati would ever have been like this ruthlessly dominating Jodha, Raag Bharavi or no Raag Bhairavi. (In Carnatic music, it all starts from the Todi raagam).

Maybe not the serial Jodha-Jalal, but the images I have of them from history ... they do represent these two raags for me ...
In Carnatic, we learn Mayamoulavagava (Bhairav) first and that is what I was joking about 😆

My all time favourite raaga is Sindhu Bhairavi, and I do not think we are going to see this Jodha-Jalal fitting in with the playful, demanding abandon of Yaahi Madhava, yaahi Kesava. I am always amused when she is compared to the meltingly passionate Radha, who later became Krishna's flute. A more inappropriate comparison could hardly be imagined.

Beautiful choice Periamma! 👏

This jodi, and Jodha in particular, is in love because we are told that it is so. I was amused to see you waxing eloquent over Jalal-Jodha's electric hand holding and eye locks. To my mind, the electricity is mostly in your mind.Last night, as Jalal finished massacring the second line of the Karmanyevadhikaaraste sloka - his pronounciation and the anvaya, the way the words are split up while reciting them, were both appalling- and Jodha leaned over a roughly 2 foot gap to put her head on his shoulder, it looked as if they had been married for about 40 years. Mira Nair's "old shoe love" would have been a perfect fit!

It is true ... the love is in our head more than anything else ... it is our image / aura of Jodha- Jalal that makes us watch this show

You are clearly enjoying yourself, my pet, and the products of your creativity are so charming that neither these characters nor this serial are worthy of them. The prevailing mood of Jodha Akbar, for me at least, is extreme irritation; the best scene of the last week was the one between Mahaam and Javeda in the jail, and that says it all!

Oh yes ... have I written of anything in this past week? 😆 I enjoy writing, I enjoy music, I enjoy the image of Jodha-Jalal in my head ... and this is the result

But I am sure you are already looking out for musical signatures for Salim and Anarkali, who, I am told by Mandy, are practically waiting in the wings!😉

I will just sing "Yeh zindahi usiki hai" to the CVs and call it a day! 😆

I'm only a lover of music...and your last post was easier for me to understand, but this one you've explained beautifully...and now let me get back to your take and see if I can put some of my own thoughts.😳

Thanks so much ! My music posts are in varying difficulty 😆 But this one was on Rashmi's request

Look forward to your thoughts ... all you have to do is to share what are your favorite moods and shades of Jodha-Jalal
