you have put it beautifully indeed🤗

@ Donjas. i agree with mandy ...love stories always work ..given the right treatment and mass appeal...besides the curious factor about history blended in drama and NR..is perfect recipe for trps...and if you do not drag it ..it holds interest and you can end it on a high ...

I am sorry if I offended anyone by my comments but I was talking with my head not my heart. The poor performance of the the Pakistani shows on the new ZEE channel and of Yudh on SONY, has somewhat dampened my spirits as to the audience for good shows in India.

I am cynical, I believe that there will be less acceptance by the audience of a character, who is not one of them. Maybe that is at the subconscious level, but it is there. Hence the failure of big budget movies like Taj Mahal, where all the characters speak in impeccable Urdu. Or the fact that the Shah Mumtaz love story or the Jahangir Nur Jahan love stories are so well know but no one seems willing to tackle them on screen.

donjas kya mazaa aa raha hai aapke saath guftagoo karne ka..! i think the likes of mughal-e-azam, umrao jaan, pakeezah, laila majnu. ishq par zor nahin, mere mehboob were all belonging to muslim culture and they were super hit! they all had one thin in common great quality!

and who said pakistani shows are not accepted..have u seen ZGH? dhoop kinare? they are mind blowing, absolutely flawless! and they are also super hit!..yes yudh did not appeal to the common masses because it is a very intense show..if u miss one dialogue the whole connection is lost..such type of shows u cannot sit with family and watch, u need complete silence and full concentration!

please do not apologize for stating your views...no one is offended and i can understand what you are trying to say...ZGH on zee zindagi became hugely popular so i would not say poor performance also given they have just 25-30 episodes per show it is very hard to decipher the statistics...but the shows are refreshing and tudh was never meant for mass appeal besides i hardly see Sony catering to the trp rush ...they stiil hold onto quality after years...how is that there CID still gets good rating after nearly 2 decades...

but yes the trps and the choice of the mass does put one off about quality of a show ...there is alot of factors involved for a show or a movie to be a hit not just being a historical will do...you need the right medium and marketting strategy to sell it as well

why did JA work...it was not only inter religion but also a your mills and boon romance set in 16th century...arrgant ,rude male and headstrong female ...it was firework...and then by now EKK more or less knows the pulse of her audience and hence the tracks are catered to them ...high drama intensity even if logic flies off the window...

even PRC worked earlier because it was not just the execution and acting but romance ,drama and history handled very sensibly ...

the reason taj mahal as movie failed ...Akbar khan wanted to make a historical movie ,he made it but he could not sell it to the audience nor the audience could connect with it...instead see how AG sold JA with HR and ashwariya...

another major factor is the actors playing the role and their chemistry with co stars...JA is blessed in that department..everyone has good onscreen chemsitry with each other be it jalal jodha or ruqaiyya or salima or MA or HB..even abu mali and sharif and adham khan ..the cast is really good...

if RT or PS could not connect with the audience or convince them of jalal and jodha ...the show would not have worked at all...hence with their wedding track the trps hiked

You put very good examples. I am not saying good Muslim culture shows or movies will not succeed, it is just that it takes harder for them to do well. And there has been a change in the climate over the past 2 decades. The population has become more radicalized, that is why all the examples you gave are from way back in time. I would like to know some recent examples.

Regarding Pakistani shows on the new ZEE channel, a TVM of 300 can hardly be called earth shattering. The sad thing is that Indian audiences have not yet shed their prejudices or developed the taste for high quality drama.
