(jalal left from there without looking back...leaving maham all shocked and flabbergasted...maham had no idea what happened just a moment ago...she was still in a trance...)

Maham:- (to herself) ya khuda...ye kaise ho gaya?? Ye to sara khel hi ulta pad gaya...ab hum kya kare...

(as soon as jalal left the room...resham entered...he found maham all lost in dilemma...he went slowly from behind and put his hand on her shoulder...she jerked out of her trance with a loud scream...Resham's touch did scare the hell out of her...)

Maham:- (angry...gritting her teeth) kya karti ho resham tum...hume dil ka daura padne wala tha...malum hai tumhe ...esa kyu karti ho tum...bevkoof kahin ki...

Resham:- muaff kijiyega...wazir e aliya...(he stopped for a sec and looked at maham from head to toe...she was drenched in her own sweat)...lekin aapko kya hua hai...aap itni pareshan kyu hai...shenshah ne kuch kaha kya aapse??

Maham: -(all nervous) mat pucho resham...kya kaha hai jalal ne humse...jis khat ko hum apni fateh ki sidhi(ladder) samjh rahe the...aaj wohi humare gale ka fanda banta nazar aa raha hai hume

Resham:- matlab??...kis khat ki baat kar rahi hai aap...

Maham:- are wohi khat jiske sahare jalal ko begum jodha se dur karne ke khwaab dekhe the humne...ab jalal kehte hai ke unhe wo khat chahiye...wo bhi aaj sham tak...khuda jaane achanak esa kya hua hoga jo jalal ke mizzaz is kadar badal gaye...ye sab zarur us begum jodha ka hi kaam hai...vrna jalal humari baat per shaq kare ...esa aaj tak nahi hua...

Resham:-(worried) to ab aap kya karegi wazir e aliya...

Maham:- (smirking) hum nahi resham...tum...ab humari baat dhyaan se suno...abhi jaker us khat ko dhundho...aur jahan tak humara andaaza hai use yehi hona chahiye...isi hojre me...aur jaise hi tumhe wo khat mile...

Resham: - (interrupting her in b/w) hum use aapko saup de ...haina...

Maham: - (gritting her teeth)...nahiii ahmak...jaise hi wo khat tumhe milta hai...use khatam kar do ...isse pehle ke jalal use dhund le...tum use dhundker uska namonishan(existance) mita do...samjhi... yaad rahe Resham...kisi bhi halat me wo khat jalal ke haatho tak nahi pahuchna chahiye...kyuki agar esa hua to hum tumhare haath kalam karne me zara bhi der nahi lagayege...samjhi...

Resham:- nahi nahi huzur...esa karne ki naubat nahi aayegi...ab to kaam ho hi gaya samajhiye...

Maham:- koi galti nahi honi chahiye resham...ab tum fauran jao...aur us khat ko dhundo...tab tak hum zara bahar dekhker aate hai ke ye mamla aakhir hai kya ...

(Resham started searching the letter in the room while maham made her way out of the room...she looked over almost every place in the palace and finally her eyes caught most of the royal people gathered outside hakima sahiba's room...she wondered why the place is that much crowded...and as per her natural tendency of "chugalkhori" ...she went and stood at some distance from there to find out about the matter)

(jalal was pacing fast back and forth outside the room...he was way too restless and was impatiently waiting for hakima to come out to know about jodha's condition...and so as everyone...and finally hakima came out...but her expressions were not looking pleasant at all...everyone surrounded her while jalal rushed to her... )

Jalal:- (really tensed) kya hua hakima sahiba?? Jodha kaisi hai?? (he was so much worried that he called her "jodha" instead of "jodha begum") ...unhe hosh aaya...wo thik to hai na...boliye na...aap kuch bolti kyu nahi...

Hakima: -(with her head bowed down) wo...wo sheshah...humse jo kuch bhi ho sakta tha...humne puri koshish ki...magar unki halat me koi sudhaar nahi hai...hume nahi lagta ke hum unka ilaj kar payege...

Jalal: - (angry...almost shouted) ilaj nahi kar payegi??...kya matlab hai aapka ilaj nahi kar payegi se...??(jalal's loud voice caused a shiver in hakima's body...jalal sensed that...he calmed himself down...and asked in a very soft voice) ye...ye aap kya keh rahi hai hakima sahiba...khuda ke liye esa mat kahiye...lekin unhe hua kya hai...esa kya hua hai unhe jo aap unka ilaj karne se inkaar kar rahi hai...

Hakima: - (hesitantly) unhe...unhe zeher diya gaya hai shenshah... (everyone including jalal is shocked beyond words...)...bahut hi khatarnaak(dangerous) kism ka zeher hai ye...apni puri zindagi me esa zeher pehle kisi mamle me nahi dekha humne...ye behad janleva hai shenshah...jism me daakhil hoker dhire dhire saanso ko band ker dene wala...magar ye to allah ka fezel(god's grace) hai...ke jodha begum ki saanse ab tak chal rahi hai...

Hamida:-(shocked) magar ye zeher jodha ke jism me aaya kaha se...

Hakima:- unke gale per panjo ke nishaan(nail marks) hai mallika e aazam...ab wo kisi aadamzaat(human) ke hai...yaa phir kisi jaanver ke...ye samajh pana mushkil hai...badi hi berahmi(mercilessly) se...(she closed her eyes as she was not able to speak further)......ab to ek hi rasta hai...

Jalal:-(with wet eyes..Held her shoulders) to aap soch kya rahi hai...batayiye na...jodha begum ki jaan bachane ke liye jo kuch bhi karna pade aap kijiye...magar unhe bacha lijiye...hum aapke.... (He was about to join his hands...when hakima stopped him)...

Hakima: - (interrupting him meanwhile) nahi shenshah...ye aap kya kar rahe hai...hume sharminda mat kijiye...bus jitni jaldi ho sake bade hakim sahib ko ajmer se yaha lane ka intezaam kijiye...ab wohi kuch ker sakte hai...jodha begum ke paas waqt bahut kam hai shenshah...jaldi kijiye...

(jalal wiped off his tears and called up for adhka saahib)

Jalal:- adhka sahib...fauran sabse tez ghudsawaar(horse rider) ko ajmer bheja jaaye bade hakim sahib ko lene...hukm ki taamil ho...

(adkha nodded his head in consent and the fastest ever mugol rider was sent to ajmer to bring the hakim...maham was listening all this...a wicked smirk ran down her lips...)

Maham: - to ye baat hai...begum jodha ko zeher diya gaya hai...wo bhi itne nayab tarike se...magar mehel me ye janver aaya kaha se...kiska ho sakta hai ye kaam... (She smiled widely and curiously)...chalo kisi ka bhi ho...fayda to humara hi ho raha hai na... (She smiled evilly and left from there)

(on the other hand...Resham was sweating blood in search of the letter...he had observed almost every part of the room but was not being able to find the letter yet...finally he sat down over a big box to relax for a moment *it was the same box maham used to keep the important letters in*...he was wiping out her sweat with his dupatta when his eyes caught piece of papers lying on the floor at some distance...his face lit up with the color of happiness...he rushed and picked them up and checked whether it's the desired one or not...and became glad to see that it was the same letter he was looking for...as he lifted up the letter in his hands...at the same time someone called up for him loudly..."Resham"...the fear of being caught emerged in his eyes rapidly...in haste he picked up the letter and threw it outside through the window *jharokha*...located at the back of the room...and rushed outside without looking back...she came out and looked for the person...but it was maham only...that made her to have a sigh of relief... )

Resham:-(relieved...breathing hard..) aap hai wazir e aliya...hum to ghabra hi gaye the...

Maham:- acha ye sab choro...aur ye batao...us khat ka kya hua...mila tumhe...

Resham:-(cheerful) haan wazir e aliya...mil bhi gaya aur humne uska kaam tamam bhi kar diya ...

Maham: - (smiled widely) bahut khoob resham...aaj sachmuch dil khush ker diya tumne humara...magar tumne kiya kya us khat ka...zara hum bhi to jane...

Resham: - (proudly) fikr mat kariye wazir e aliya...wo jo jharokha hai na hojre ke piche...humne us khat ko waha se bahar fenk diya hai...ab wo shenshah tak kabhi nahi pahuch payega...

Maham: - (smiling) acha....(then something came into her mind and her eyes widened in shock) kya???... kya kaha tumne?? Jharokhe se?? ye kya kiya tumne ahmak?? Wo jharokha to piche baagiche(garden) ki taraf khulta hai...iska matlab...ya khuda...(she covered her face with her hands...)

Resham: -(still clueless about her reaction) to kya ho gaya wazir e aliya??

Maham:-(with extreme anger) tera sar bevkoof...wo khat baagiche me phenk diya hai tune namurad...sab barbaad ker diya tune...saare kiye karaye per paani pher diya...ab jaldi chalo...isse pehle ke kisi aur ki nazar us par pad jaaye use lekar aate hai...

(and both of them rushed towards garden...maham was so nervous that it looked like she was running for her life...finally they reached to the garden...at the place below the jharokha...but the letter was nowhere to be seen...this caused maham to get more and more frightened...she barged on to resham and slapped him hard on his face...)

Maham: - ab bata kaha hai wo khat?? Humne bhi kis namakool ko itna zaroori kaam saup diya...ya khuda...ab kya hoga...kaun le ja sakta hai us khat ko...kahin jalal ke haath to nahi lag gaya...

FlashBack:-

(when Resham threw the letter in the garden...Rahim was playing around in the garden...and as he threw it out...the letter landed directly on Rahim's back...and he picked it up...and moved out from there )
