But Ela dear, Jodha herself no longer has the guts to stand by her truth, does she? Why does she apologise at all? She could have stuck to her guns; Jalal was not angry with her as he sent her off, he looked merely tired. So it is not as if he would have left her behind and Amer would not have wanted to keep her. Sukanya's marriage was in any case kaput. So she need not have caved in and gone thru all that spiel, need she?

But still she does it, and not because she thinks that Jalal will yield; she is reconciled by then to his not yielding. Then why does she bend so much, and present herself, with what degree of sincerity is a variable, as I had mentioned in my post, but bend to near breaking point for one so staunch and upright in support of the truth till now?

It is because she is tired of being on the losing side, and she realises that while Hamida Banu might back her unreservedly, she does not matter at all at the practical level. If she, Jodha, does not gain some traction with the one person who matters, Jalal, and does not neutralise, as much as possible, her main antagonist, Mahaam, she will never get anywhere or have any influence that she can eventually use for promoting 'good'.

If a very strong, tough cookie like Jodha can cave in like this, what can you expect of Bakshi Banu, who is a scaredy cat at all times and is terrified of her husband and for her husband? I do not admire her, but she is what she is, and it is no use complaining about her. Very few women, even those much braver than Bakshi Banu, would confess to things that would sent their husbands to their death just for the sake of the 'truth' . Not even 1 in 100.

The fact is that if Jodha had cared for her marriage from the beginning, she would have been far more diplomatic and cautious at all times. Now, I am very pleased to see that she is becoming more street smart and, hopefully, somewhat devious as well. I was delighted with her OTT display of unbridled repentance yesternight, and was besides myself with laughter as she fell on Mahaam's neck and called her Badiammi😉. I applauded her liberally, and I am sure she is going to be much more interesting from now on.

I have high hopes that once she is sure that Sukanya is well protected, she will not crib and preach about the retaking of Ratanpur from the Rat King. That will really mark her coming of age.

Good. Nothing like a beemaar biwi, a fikarmand shauhar, and the cold all around to promote some togetherness. If only they could have lost Hamida Banu on the way in a snowdrift!😉 She is a real kabab mein haddi,if ever there was one!

No, Ela dearest, you do not!😉

Well,I know what I think, and that is 👏

I know it is not the Rat King's fault, but I detest him and I am glad he is going to get his comeuppance, the greedy, oily rascal! I loved Pratap's brutally frank lecture to him.

And thank you so much for liking this post. I rather liked it myself, and the title in particular.

Thank you very much, both for the warm praise and even more so for the remarkably perceptive and very refreshing comments.

@blue
is spot on. The second part of this is partially reflected in my comments in the post:

Soon, she will learn why. And the way in which she reacts to that revelation, and the manner in which she handles it, will have a major, if not permanent, impact on the future of the Jalal-Jodha relationship. Get set for a storm ahead, folks.

Excellent writing as always.

Jodha was good but has long ways to go. I think even though she might have thought she means what she says, there is no way she will be able to follow through if it interferes with her principles. She is too black and white character, and Jalal is dark grey. Her steadfast resolve to stand by him is only in speech.

Ok I was initially puzzled as to why he changed his mind, I think the answer to that is given in the episode itself by Jalal 'izzat'. I think he was genuine in that answer he just paid her back for what she did. I think he knows it would have been hard for her to say all that in front of all when even in private she never disclosed any concern for him when repeatedly asked.

I can't laugh at the irony at all this Jodha actually can't get mad at him, if she does, which I think she will goes back to my earlier point that she is still too simple minded to look at the bigger bigger. Why she can't get mad because she didn't want him to give up the fort, she agreed to support him and most importantly she gave up on Sukanya getting married to Wajinder. Jalal clean bowls her by matching her declarations by giving away the fort, get her sister married, and he has made a decision to win the fort back by force.

I think this will be a test for Jodha from Jalal to see how sincere she really was. When they lock horns they both will make the case of where the other has cheated. But I am team Jalal his case is stronger much more valid. How Jodha reacts to what he did will set a premise for her character going forward. I am inclined to believe it will be all too easy for her to start waving the Mughal flag in victory glee, too early for that she will pout for awhile until something dramatic happens. What that is it is the jungle called agra where there are serpents everywhere reality of this will hit her hard, her position and her husband life will be at stake, when she realizes the singular truth of this then shall raise the queen and wife and lover.

Precisely, Alakh, and what I found new and promising was that Jodha wasted no time on her, but concentrated on convincing Jalal and neutralising her (?) Badiammi and Sharifuddinji Sa! She is growing up, is our girl!😉

Lovely analysis of a super episode. 👍🏼
I do beg to differ about Jalal being Chanakya's Child. With his foundation shaped by the likes of Bairam Khan and his blind faith in Maham Anga , it would be a disrespect to a great scholar & tactician like Chanakya...Jodha , on the other hand , could have turned out to be a great pupil...had she been privileged to be under his tutelage.

Jalal is cunning, scheming, manipulative, deceitful...political intrigue is his birthright and nothing wrong with that but what he did yesterday left a sour taste ...only because he never . not once, pondered the charge on Sharifu...outright dismissal of such a claim from a man who claims to trust not even his shadow, doesn't sit well with his character...I would consider it a glaring flaw in his character especially after the MC fiasco ,where I thought he was justified to an extent in his Zinda Jalaa Denge to Jodha ! My admiration for Jalal dimmed quite considerably yesterday 😆... not that its of any consequence.😆

Jalal's act could lead to him killing Vajinder in this war.😲...would he not commit a Gunah then ?? Or it can be conveniently dismissed again as perils of war !...You have aptly described it here...That the hapless Rat King was not guilty of anything but an excess of greed would not change anything, for what would matter would be what Jalal believed of him.

I am just glad of the fact that this would put the couple many steps back in their equation, once Jodha is aware of it. I am quite interested to find out what or any reparation Jalal would make once he knows of Sharif's treachery. As far as offering Mansabdaari to Vijendra, I had thought that would be his middle ground solution. Not this underhanded deceit based on treachery, which he refused to consider.

Kudos to Jodha 👏👏 She was, standing ovation worthy, magnificent yesterday. Maham's face, , the flag bearer of Mughal Sultanat ki Izzat😡 was a delight to watch.👍🏼

Yesterday...
Jodha veiled Truth in Diplomacy and Jalal used Diplomacy to veil Deceit !

Agree with you that Jodha should have stuck to her guns and by using guiles she has proved her earlier stand wrong...I said so in my thread last night...
She should never have said sorry to all those cheaters...I guess with BB's lie her only proof was gone and she was left with no other way...

But still she does it, and not because she thinks that Jalal will yield; she is reconciled by then to his not yielding. She did all that to stop Jalal from leaving and find a way but I still dont approve of her action...

I think ur above para has said a lot about Jalal and his relationship with his mother and his blind trust in his ppl...Forget abt believing Jodha , he is not giving it a thought that Jodha could be speaking truth...
Did you see how MA cut HB in the midway and that also in front of Jalal...

BB is the only proof Jodha has...BTW Doesn't Jalal know that a mughal wife will never go against her hubby...😆

The fact is that if Jodha had cared for her marriage from the beginning, she would have been far more diplomatic and cautious at all times. Me and Rose were discussing in my thread that you are going to be very happy with Jodha today...But I am not as I preferred honest and blunt Jodha to this one...
No even if Jodha had been diplomatic even then Jallu would not have believed her...Infact it would have opposite effect...Her honesty and bluntness make Jallu trust her some what or should I say about 1 %.

I have high hopes that once she is sure that Sukanya is well protected, she will not crib and preach about the retaking of Ratanpur from the Rat King. That will really mark her coming of age.
I am hoping that she will bluntly tell Jallu that what he did was wrong and he has time and again played with her sister's life...I dont think after this fiasco Jodha will be able to trust Jallu as much as she does now...
She should also tell Jalal that he cant force Suku's inlaws to treat her well as marriages cant be built on force otherwise BB would have been most happily married.
Thanks Shyamala...Love you.

Brilliant post ..!

But jodha was acting like too much
She would have done a little less

And she spoked whatever was fake ? She truly said that all things just to convince jalal isn't that so creepy ...but over all that whole episode was a blast

Nice episode with good scenes of our clever jalal
And always love you posts

I was wondering if Jalal tries to placate them by offering mansabdari or something, the rat king may still try to back stab or seek revenge for his beizaatti.. Idk he will seek revenge from shariff or jalal though
