Dear Jenny,

What charming things you do say, my dear! Your first and last lines would see me thru even the worst bad hair day.

I think the Holi fiasco is history. It was brought in only to build the walls of the cul de sac high enough to give Jodha claustrophobia.

I liked it that the course correction for the Yellow Jodha came from herself, in the Green Jodha avatar, and also that Jalal reacted with instinctive sensitivity and a kind of helpless protectiveness when Jodha was in tears at the end of the darbar scene, even if he could not do anything to ease things for her. If he had gone to her then, she would have rebuffed him brutally, so the pool it had to be.

Shyamala Aunty, nice to see your post up earlier than usual (?)...it's like a succulent and satisfying bite of my favourite dish, which will see me through the day..😆

Just like your post, the revelations of Jodha's inner workings of the mind were equally satisfying...it was like a page out of our collective 'what we need to drill into Jodha' book😉. And yes, beneath the veneer of Jalal's Mughal sultanat pride, the fear and concern he felt at Jodha's disappearance (and impending suicide) was palpable. I loved Rajat here, as well.

I was just wondering if the whole Mahaam Anga-Holi fiasco will be shoved under the suicide carpet now or will that be left as one more score for MA to settle against Jodha later?? That whole scene of a livid Adhaam Khan may be one for the future, where he becomes the torchbearer who will avenge his mother's humiliation by Jodha...?😕

On a personal note, I am in absolute awe of your ability to quote anything from Hamlet to Harry Potter with equal mastery. Doff my hat to you👏

I loved your post aunty, and I agree with you completely, and yes you were right in saying that it would be rejection from her parents that will drive her to such a heinous act, and mainavati was more cold about this than I expected, one thing I didn't like was when she said do you remember what price amer had to pay for this alliance, when I clearly thought that this alliance is what had saved amer, but Jodha's faith towards her parents accepting her even if she's a parityatak, was shattered, especially because she had boasted so much about it to Jalal, but I did feel bad for the girl as she became a joke in front of everyone because of the rejection, my conviction that Jodha will attempt suicide had strengthened when she said "Jodha mar jayegi par ek parityatak ke roop mein amer laut ke Nahi jayegi," what an observation on the green legengas being Jalals favorite color and the candid Jodha was also green, and I loved the green Jodha and how she reveals the depths of Jodha's mind. Coming to Jalas excuse as to why finding Jodha is important was not enough to hide the concern he had for his Jodha begum when Ruquayia told him the suicide theory and about jowhar, his eyes widened and his face was covered with shock, but he keeps insisting it's only because of the Mughal sultanat laws clearly his face was conveying something else and even Ruquayia had senses it, can't wait to see tomorrow's episode, Thanks for a Great post!

Incidentally, she sets a sizzling pace to the pool, probably she has had a lot of practice in 400 metre dashes to save oppressed pigeons!

😆 Hilarious - will we get a track where Jalal oppresses pigeons and she saves them?

I am glad of some realism too, but not that it is said in the darbar - seems a very odd place to discuss divorce matters - for that's what they were.

Thank you, my dear, and I am with you on the darbar point, whence my question of the day.

As for Jalal oppressing the pigeons, perhaps by shooting them, I devoutly hope not! But I am very pleased that you noted and liked that joke.

I will help her.

My dear Nandini,

It is a good thing I am over 60, otherwise such lavish praise would surely go to my head! Thank you so much, my dear.

Aunty I was thinking.. that their Marriage was in a way, a political arrangement. It was suggested by a courtier... Plus, if he had to give her a divorce, wouldn't it already take place in the darbar.. I don't think Jalal anticipated Mainavati's reaction..
