An interesting point myviewprem

This mynavati look like innocent but very clever lady

In guise of scolding jodha she throwing jootha at jalal
First she say your dad head bent in front of hindustan because of marriage
I want to ask did Akbar go and beg i want to marry jodha? No Bharamal went with proposal to akbar. Otherwise in those times a muslim emperor marrying an hindu was unthinkable even for akbar
Second she says because of your marriage we are banished by indian kings
Again an insult to akbar because of his relation to jodha all kings avoiding her family. again not his fault as he did not ask for marriage they asked. Meaning indirectly akbar is untouchable for them.
Third she say because of you your sisters marriage not happening
Again insult to akbar only that because he is their relative they are not getting boys to marry his sis-in-laws
And i was shocked akbar never once protested and slap after slap on his face by mynavati in front of courtiers, gaurds, maids. Is Akbar emperor or just his wife's husband and sasu ma's damad. How can mynavati insult him in court like this in front of his subjects?

Yes I bet Akbar & Jodha must be spinning around in their graves to imagine that Mughlai divorce matters are discussed so casually in the Diwaan-E-Khaas of all places!!
While the subject at hand was very Khaas, the place was most un-suitable!! In the real Mughal world, none of this would have ever been discussed out in the open amongst nobles , courtiers & half the Haram in attendance! It just didn't make any sense & I wish Ekta & the JA team would take modified inspiration from the Maharana Pratap show!!! From their story lines, esp to their costumes & personality presentation of the characters, is excellently done & it's utterly believable for the time! JA many times, isn't.

The Emperor & Empresses never have more than a few sets of (well done) costumes, and the characters act very un-convincingly! Like the whole Diwaan-E-Khaas scene yesterday. And not even the costumes seem to be spot-on to give the audience a genuine feel.

No Mughal woman wore a nose ring, like Ruqaiyya & the young Haram women do. Only the older women don't , like how it is used to be; examples: Hamida Begum, Gulbadan etc.

If the Maharana Pratap makers show a parallel Jalal-Jodha love story, they'll have an ardent viewer of the show in me! 😃 😉

it might've been a political arrangement to start with, Alakh but a marriage however political it maybe, even an Imperial arrangement such as the one between Jalal & Jodha ; would never have been discussed so wantonly!
And never, ever in front of a full Mughal Court.

In the actual Mughal world if such an un-precedented event would've taken place, Jodha would've been sent back to Amer with a number of soldiers accompanying her after suitable talks would've taken place.. But her mother, a Maharaani, would never have landed up & scolding Jodha like an errant child in front of an entire court!

She would've been sent back discreetly & if it was necessary, a statement would've been sent out.. But as is the case in every age, it still would've been talked about for a while! And usually, as Mainaavati noted, Jodha would've led a life full of stigma & others judgments.

Such a dishonour would've been impossible to live with in Jodha's world especially.

No, Alakh, whoever had suggested it, and all marriages between royalty were political in those days, the divorce, talaq or talaq-e-khula, was finally a private matter, for he says he is sending her back as her shauhar. It is all for the drama, as in every soap. This, after all, is only a superior soap, quite superior, true but still full of suds!!

I agree that Jalal did not anticipate Mainavati's reaction; I think he took Jodha's whistling in the dark too seriously!

Aunty I was thinking.. that their Marriage was in a way, a political arrangement. It was suggested by a courtier... Plus, if he had to give her a divorce, wouldn't it already take place in the darbar.. I don't think Jalal anticipated Mainti's reaction..

Thank you, my dear, and I am with you on the darbar point, whence my question of the day.

As for Jalal oppressing the pigeons, perhaps by shooting them, I devoutly hope not! But I am very pleased that you noted and liked that joke.

Lovely analysis
Rajat's performance in Ruqaiya - Jalal scene was superb

I think I saw Ruqaiya noticing the fear behind Jalal's mask of duty...

Dear Vanilla-e-Mint,
The Question of the Day bit in your post today is the most relevant part for me re last night's episode. I caught up with it really late...I mean Really. Then again was in a tired state of mind...so that could have clouded my vision...

For to me, last night's episode had a hint of the drivel in it...an exercise in inanity.
Sorry, but though taken on its own the episode may be all that you have written and more, as has been discussed by many others in the forum...

To me, it was the CV's short cut to somehow extricate themselves from a situation that they have been complicating and messing up in the past few weeks. Their way of wiping the slate so that an equally confounding love Story's base can be laid...with a water dunking followed by Marauding Mohan... Had I been a Tiger. I would have by now taken out Morchas that would scare all that wit out of the CV's... Its a complete charachter assasination of Mohan thats being readied to be dished out on our plate...

From the total improbability of a sixteenth Century Rajput Queen travelling on her own to her daughter's Maika with the sole purpose of the visit being bringing her daughter back... to the Deewan-e-khas...That Durbar had its sanctity... it was neither a family court, nor the Shehenshah under any obligation to explain his personal matters to his cabinet...if these utterly predictable and preachy scenes were so necessary... He could have had the whole thing unfold within the confines of the Harem walls...at the most come out with a Public statement later.

so as you said it was the best Ekta's CV's could do in the absence of the quintessential Party scene...a staple of all products from her stable.

As for the ASK of the ASK
scene with multi mirrors and Jodha in triplet...

it was a pathetic bit trying to undo all the harm they had caused to the characterization of Jodha Bai.

The confusion created by the three Jodhas in three resplendent Jodas is basically the confusion clouding the combined grey cells of the CV's.

As you pointed out, all three very well dressed with matching sets of Jwellery and the works.
with the green joda...acting the voice of reason...well seems your Jodha bachao project has made its mark even in its embryo state 😃

But honestly...that scene was the total bringing down of the 9000 elo rating GM brain that we were promised at the outset.. or the sensibilities attached with it.
Jodha's inner turmoil develops as sudden as a tornado and brings/will bring destruction on many levels of story telling.

The pre cap...

Ussain Bolt/Ezekiel Kemboi...100m or the steeple chase...whichever way you look at it...

My primary Q remains how the hell did she get a horse and if she has slunked out of the Fort...
How this reflects on the security measures in place.
(An observation that Rana Pratap can find handy if planning an Agra ambush)

Whether Jalal finds out the existence of the object Nor-easterly to his solar plexus as a direct result of all this is something I'm not confident enough about. What I do know, his lungs are in for some serious decathalon preparations.

Love

Alakh,

It is like a kaleidoscope, what you see depends on the angle of vision.

Granting all that myviewprem has said, it still makes no difference either to Jalal - who would hardly let on that he had noticed these remarks and taken them as jibes directed at him; it would have been beneath him to retort to any of them. He would have been very ill-advised to have done anything like that.

It would be the same with the rest of the court, whose POV would be exactly like that of Adham Khan when he was jibing at Mansingh and Bhagwan Das: Beti dekar Amer to bacha liya besharam kahin ke, aur ab dekho kya rona dhona apni ladki ke baddimaag ki vajah se!

So, to question why Jalal did not react to Mynavati's comments to Jodha shows a total lack of understanding of the mechanics of the scene and the situation. Jalal effortlessly silences Mynavati on both the points on which she addresses him, regarding her sons and Jodha's failings. and she has in the end to beg him with folded hands not to send Jodha back to Amer.

So, who do you think came out on top?

Lastly, I do not think that Mynavati meant all that as jibes at Jalal, for after all she wants to leave her daughter there, and it would hardly be advisable for her to anger the son in law-cum-emperor. I think she just got carried away in her litany of woes to make sure her daughter understood the seriousness of the matter.
