What a freakish coincidence!😆 I wrote in a post a few hours back, that if Ekta keeps taking so much of creative liberties in the portrayal of Rajputs, there is bound to be a backlash and lo behold!😕
Now before someone from Akbar's lineage starts a protest, I think the wisest thing to do is to reign in the imagination of the creatives which is currently running super-wild and tame the story!
No one is expecting Balaji Telefilms to do an award winning documentary on the life and times of the Great Emperor...but at the same time, there is no need to exaggerate stuff so much, that it starts offending and hurting people of certain communities.

Hopefully now she learns a lesson and show the JA marriage allaince asap to stop these issues ...

I don't think that these people have even bothered to watch the show. Their problem is with Jodha, being a rajput princess marrying akbar.

Come on, they couldn't shut the movie down. The only thing they can probably do is shut it in Rajasthan.

@Breezestar, I don't think the problem this time has to do with JA marriage...because that part hasn't even been shown yet! I think they are generally annoyed by the portryal of Rajputs in the show...the fact that it shows their women without purdah...and mingling freely with men etc. Also, Rajputs are generally shown as being antagonistic (especially Jodha who seems to be out for Akbar's head!) and scheming here...like they are the villains and the Mughals are simply defending themselves against them!
I don't know this for sure, but I think this could be a reason for the protests.

history states that akbar did marry a rajput princess, the princess of amber...so there is no doubt abt that...i think they have a problem with her being jodha bai instead of using her real name.

What about PRC, MahranaPratap shows.. The main issue is that they say that there has never been mughals marrying rajput princesses, they won't accept it. Akbarnama and other books don't use her Hindu name. It has always been controversial. The movie was also banned in several states but Ashutosh Gowarikar alleged that the movie had been cleared by the censor board of India and crores of ruppees already spent on the movie, the ban was then lifted.

Actually no. Because the protests have been going on for a long time. They started even before the show began. Actually to be specific, The protests started from the moment Zee announced the launch of this show. The same thing happened with movie itself. The movie was banned in UP, Haryana and Rajasthan. Ashutosh Gowarikar had to go to supreme court to revoke the ban. It's not about what the show is portraying at all. They just don't like the context of the show. I have been following the protests myself, and this did not happen because they are showing Rajputs in a negative way. If that was the case, then the protests should not have started from around April. 😆 It's just an excuse.

Members of the Rajput community on Monday blocked the Ambala-Hisar national highway to protest against "distortion of facts" in a television serial on Mughal emperor Akbar, causing much inconvenience to commuters. Activists of Rajput Sabha and Rajput Youth Brigade staged the protest against television serial 'Jodha-Akbar' for showing that the Mughal emperor was married to Rajput princes Jodha.

"It was not established in any book and historical documents that Akbar was married to Jodha," said president of Rajput Sabha, Rambir Chauhan and Youth Brigade's leader, Jatinder Rana. "The Rajput community would not allow (anybody) to hurt its sentiments," they said.

The blockade was lifted after nearly an hour following persuasions by policemen
