i'm glad you responded to my questions........while i may not agree entirely (as in i agree with you to about 90% of what you wrote) with your points, i do concede that your knowledge of music is vastly superior than mine...

i'm glad you didn't see my comments as a way of attacking you but in fact just a matter of clearing up a few misconceptions of mine with respect to your argument tha vineet deserved his exit.

good to know that you are a musician so your input is obviously more valued in this forum than most.

i am as i mentioned earlier, a fan of music....but would have no knowledge of critic music in terms of technical merit.

last question......who do you feel in your honest opinion, has performed the best thus far?.....another way to paraphrase this question would be, who do you feel has sung consistently the best out of the remaining contestants?

for me that would be abhijeet followed by rahul, then vineet(who is of course eliminated)

Thanks for your words. Music is such a vast field that even those who know it can make mistakes.

Uptil now on pure merit as I see it (may be I am mistaken), there is NO one singer who can be classified as the best..

- Abhijeet is the better pop singer however he is unsuitable for playback singing as he lacks throw/power in his voice.. he can be a good pop singer though in future but I doubt if he will get movie songs

- Debojit has a better playback voice however his sur are not clways correct and cannot sing variety of songs.. he needs more practice and also develop his voice modulation more. He can get movie songs if he develops his voice

- Toshi is a wonderful classical/trained singer with best sur overall however cannot do playback because he doesnt have hero's voice.. so that will always be a problem for him since he cannot replace people like Shaan in industry

overall, these 3 are the best.. rest are either too young or too untrained or simply lack voice quality etc etc

Thanks again

Gauriji you hit the target dead center. I have been saying that from the C2005 days that Vinit's voice is very, very, very harsh on the eardrums. That he really needs to work on softening his high notes. I wish some biomedical engineer invents some sort of a sander that could smooth out the sharp edges of the human vocal chords.

Growing up listening to Rafisahab, Mannada and even Talatji I suppose my ears got corrupted by the perfectly hit high notes that were oh soo soothing and never painful or irritating. I don't remember ever reaching out to turn off the radio while listening to these masters.

On the other hand listening to Vinit I find myself hitting the mute button on the remote....all the time. He needs to grow up, work on his manners and really hone his voice skills.

Most of us select according to our likes and dislikes ( so long as the singer is average). So selection is mostly personal that is often based on behaviour, looks, likeability factor, song selection etc and lastly singing. Vinit is was an outstanding singer but long lay offs to tend to affect the standards. But I have noticed Harpreet and Raja improved a lot though.

Vineet COULD have been a better singer than debojeet if he practised and did his riyaaz
he has better control than debu...which i saw in srg-2005 and prob. more veratility

however in this show he has deteriorated so much he has obviously not been serious about riyaaz.Debo's voice quality is much better, he has an amazing voice and can become a playback singer.
harshit, abhi and debo are far the best

rahul hiself said he prefers to be na actor in one interivew. Toshi and Vinit are not taking singing seriously at all. and that leaves abhi and ahrshit, dedictaed singers and deserve to be in top 3

Vineet's voice is still immature. That even judges have said that many times. But Debojit is ready for playback now. Vineet has to keep up the riyaaz as many times his sur were besur.
