Yep I agree with you. This is a very unrealistic expectations. According to me he is getting scared that Janak started having any expectations from the forced narraige. He was shocked to know she went to temple and did Pooja and all for him. So he is very cautious now and making her a maid deliberately. Or he is acting to keep her safe.
