Tradition- Is that what it is all about?

It is a rant so if anything here sounds particularly impolite and hurtful, I apologize.

Since my inception into this forum it seems all most Shakti-ians have been doing is defending Shakti's participation in the show and to be honest, I don't mind that. I gather that people will have questions as well as varying opinions and I respect that. Posts like "Why Shakti participating is unfair?" don't bother me a lot. Those are bound to be made and it is a legit question.

What bothers me is the huge number of soothsayers in the forum. Yes, the overwhelming faction who predicts the outcome of the show and give their verdict like "Shakti Mohan won't win the show." Oh and it is not just Shakti. Verdicts have been out against Ashish as well. That Ashish won't win because Colors already had a winner in Dhrashti last season. Yes, it is not even a "might" or a "most probably". It is direct and definite "won't". Some other celebs also apparently don't have any hope of making it to the trophy.

Lets talk about Shakti first because... well I love her. When the people who pass such a verdict are asked to cite reasons to support such a futuristic statement, they have one ready and it is the one used in all the past seasons for dancers. "Because she is a dancer and it is all about popularity". And we fans absolutely get that it is about popularity so we try telling them that Shakti Mohan is popular and she has a fan base that votes (Crazily might I add). And then we have people telling us that even popularity does not matter and that in the past seasons non popular people have won. Now hold up here a minute. So what I am being told is that

1- Dance does not matter

2- Popularity does not matter

So then, what the heck does matter? I tried to find the answer and the only thing that most of the posts led me to believe is that the only thing that matters is Tradition. Apparently, JDJ follows tradition, one of which is that dancers no matter how popular can't win. All these people saying that Shakti don't have a snowflake's chance in hell of getting that trophy are indirectly telling us that JDJ is scripted. Is that what you are telling us? Because then how could one say it with such complete surety that she won't win. How can anyone predict the results of JDJ so definitively? Yes, of course there are chances that she might not win. We are aware of the fact that there are other popular celebs in the running and they have a good chance of winning. But so does Shakti. She also have a good chance of winning. We are talking about a chance here. Everyone participating in the show is doing it because they think they have a chance. Is that not so? Then why so many set in stone verdicts of some celeb not winning?

We have so many questions on whether Shakti participating is fair. Actually not just Shakti but the participation of many other contestants are also questioned on a daily basis. Let us ask a question or two. If we are talking of fair and unfair, is not a decided winner also unfair??? So many fans out there voting for their own favorites and working hard to make them win, is it not unfair to them if the show already has a decided winner?

Opinions like

"Ashish won't win because Colors already had a winner from their own channel last season."

"Shakti won't win because she is a dancer and dancers don't win the show." And again opinions like

"Karan might win because he has all the factors working in his favor and he is also a non dancer and not in colors."

"Mouni will win because it is Punit's turn this season."(this one irritates me the most).Mouni should win because she got votes and not because it is Punit's turn. This is not hide and seek for pete's sake where the seeker is chosen by turns.

Please note that I have nothing against Karan and Mouni and I actually voted for KT. What I do have a thing or two against is anyone being a decided winner, thanks to some god forsaken tradition. Is that what matters in this show?? Is that the basis for choosing a winner. Are we fools out here who are being made to believe that the winner is actually decided by the number of votes a celeb gets?

And my final question if tradition does form the basis for deciding a winner in the show, IS THAT FAIR???

Sweetheart, reality shows ARE SCRIPTED 90% of the time. Call it a disgrace, sad, unfair...whatever you want, but that is the bitter truth. International votes don't matter, they don't count. The channel leads you into believing that they do, but the truth is they don't matter at all. That's why I don't even bothering for anyone. These shows are meant for entertainment. Don't take it so seriously. SCRIPTED to the max. Take it from someone who had a friend participate in one of these shows. Dirty politics go on behind the scenes. Don't become so sensitive to these shows. All the contestants on this show are on it because of their love for dancing. They get to showcase their talent on the big stage. Winning doesn't matter. Don't take anything to heart. Everything is BS.

Edit to add: Life is unfair. But to get on this big platform is huge.

^ The tradition is too sick and it makes us believe the show works on it too.

I will still give my best to make Shakti win.

Even if the show is fair or unfair or anything.

Whatever I'm saying isn't stuff I'm making up. One of my good friends participated in DID. I KNOW what goes on. I'm good friends with a lot of SRMGP contestants as well. They had told me a lot. Its not fun stuff.

Look, this is an open forum and people are free to give their opinion, no matter you agree or not. Also, like me, there are people who have been in JDJ forum for a long time and hence have well-formed opinions. A lot of people were disappointed last season with Lauren's loss, also the surprise win of Baichung and Chang. Unless you people have been there back then, you cannot understand. Yes, it is a fact that Chang and Baichung would have won anyway, against anyone, because people here seem to have no idea how obsessive North-East people get when it comes to their locals.
However, the constant defensive stance for Shakti is getting weird now. IT IS NOT about Shakti. If anything people will like if Shakti wins because this forum has a soft corner for Tushar. But in my honest opinion, her shipper fans are turning neutral people against her because of their constant defensive stance. In fact, if people are pointing out how biased Colors is, it is implied that they also want the best dancer to win- that is a great thing.

PS- I really like Shakti too, and you made a really sensible post in general. Very balanced. But the fact remains that people will comment based on what they have known before.

Nice post and I concur wid u. Nothing irks me more than d soothsayers who self-righteously declare tht so - nd-so will not or can't win. I can understand d best dancers not winning d previous seasons coz though d best, but dey lacked popularity, especially viz-a-viz the mush more popular soap actors. But though I really don't knw much abt Shakti, I do knw tht she is the best dancer on JDJ nd also unlike previous seasons, she seems to be popular too. So I wld really be foolish to write her off as a potential winner.

Also I feel it it more of a subconscious psychological mentality tht if said it enuf times it will turn true.😆

We can't keep all shows under the same work on.

What if the Channel really wants to make it fair this time.

And I seriously do believe voting might make them change their decision :)

Maybe not for Shakti.

If celebs like Karan n Kritika r in d top 2 and if Channel wants one of them to win and the other gets high votes and marks then they will surely change their decision.

Hope it works like that.

@ Strange_girl - All I'm going to say is that I would want nothing more than to have the channel crown a winner that is MOST deserving based on talent alone and not popularity. Let's see what this show has in store.

You ask for too much, my dear. 😆
By this logic, it should have been Sana last year. Non dancer who truly improved herself like the format endorses. But strangely enough, it is always the people who lose JDJ get great opportunities. Last season, too, it was Sid who did, unlike DD. The year before, it is Karan Wahi and Rithvik getting opportunities. In season four, it's SSR flying high, not the winner.
In fact, as history goes, losers of the show have always thrived. Even in Prachi's season, it is Jay Bhanushali who is getting a lot of exposure with Hate Story2 now, which Prachi never did.

I was just replying to a member. I'm not expecting much from this show as far as crowing the winner is concerned. Sometimes you just have a ray of hope that all will be fair. Lol. I'm just watching the show for entertainment, Madhuri, and Karan T.
