Rahul Mahajan has done the expected. Not many people digested his philandering antics on Bigg Boss, where he relentlessly wooed Monica Bedi.
Those who know Rahul well were sure it was all an act; that it was all for the cameras.
To some extent, Monica believed him and that's why even when she came out of the house, she maintained that Rahul was a dear friend. But the actress has finally come to terms with reality. Rahul Mahajan has played the disappearing game ? he's distanced himself completely from her and Monica is still reeling with the shock.
There is no denying that while on the show, Rahul was desperately trying to seek a ladies' man image. First, it was Payal Rohatgi that was the object of his affections. But when Monica entered the house, the man quickly shifted loyalties. In fact, there was a time when Rahul even drove Payal to tears because of his calculated antics.
Payal took time to see the 'other' side of Rahul but Monica still had hope. Even when Rahul would talk about loving her unconditionally, she would ask him, "Will you stand by me when you get out of the house?" And Rahul never quite gave her a definite answer. It's only now that Monica realizes why.
According to sources, for the first two weeks after Rahul came out of the house, Monica tried to be in touch with him but except for a few pleasantries, the Mahajan boy just wasn't interested in initiating any conversation with her. He had promised to produce a film with her in the lead role and even publish a book on her life ? that too turned out to be hollow talk.
Now, the situation is even worse. After being subjected to total ignorance from Rahul's side, Monica decided to sever all contact with him. Rahul hasn't bothered to call her either. Insiders state that the reason could be the Abu Salem angle.
One may recall that while Monica was inside the house, Salem had been persistent about establishing his marital relations with her ? something that Monica has denied to the public and Rahul as well. "Rahul thinks that she had hidden an important aspect of her life from him so he doesn't want to get involved in this mess anymore," says a close confidante.
When we asked Monica about her current equation with Rahul, she admitted that they weren't close anymore. "We haven't even been in touch for a while now," she said. Not that it affects her in any way. She's all set to start work on a new reality show in February.
And come March, she'll be announcing her first feature film. Until then, she's busy doing stage shows all over the country. Monica is certainly on a roll ? this time, without Rahul.
