She quickly unwraps the parcel and takes out the book.
"Our Drunken Nights"
- by Siddharth Khurana.
She smiles looking at the name. There was a sketch of a girl and a guy sitting in a bar with drinks in their hands on the cover. The girl was wearing round geeky glasses; she reminisces their first meeting and smirks. Her heart beats rose as she opened the book, and turned the pages to read the dedication.
"To Bhagyashree,
who helped me pursue my dreams,
my soul, my light of life - my Roshni.
I LOVE YOU"
Her heart skipped a beat as she read the last line; her fingers lingered over the words, HIS words. Just when a drop of tear fell on the page, someone said;
"Roshni, I know I am a tad bit late in replying to your proposal, but I fell in love with you the moment I saw you sitting in the corner of the bar scribbling away; And from that moment I have kept falling for you more and more each day. I love you. You and only you. I know you hate rich guys but for you I can become anything in the world; I can leave everything so that I can spend the rest of my life with you. So, Miss. Roshni Patel will you be mine forever?" he said bending down on one knee in front of her raising his hands in front of her.
She keeps looking at him, as more tears rolled down her cheeks. She clinches the book tightly on her chest. Few seconds passed but she did not reply to him. He continues,
"I..I can understand if you have moved on.. but I had to try or else I would have never forgiven myself. I.. I apologize for that night.. I know no amount of excuses can undo what you must have felt when I left but.." he gets up and looks guiltily at her. Her stance doesn't change at all. He starts taking steps backwards and apologizes one last time by holding his ears, as tears fell down his cheeks. He finally turns to leave when she calls out to him,
"Siddharth..."
He turns and sees her striding towards him; she embraces him tightly wrapping her arms around his neck. He exhales a sigh of relief and grins happily wrapping his hands around her waist and kisses her hair.
"You..you.. stupid boy... I love you too... and yes!! We will be together always..." she screamed in his ears.
"Always and forever." He whispered back. After a few seconds passed, he realized something and loosens the hug; she looked at him questiongly seeing a change in his behavior.
"But..don't you want to know what happened that day? I mean you forgave me so easily? Am I dreaming? Hit me!" he said.
Roshni rolled her eyes and smacks him hard on his arms.
"Ouch!! Oh god this is real!! You..You are with me! You said yes!! But.."
She embraces him again keeping her head on his chest and whispered,
"I know what happened. I heard it on the news, after all you are kind of famous. I don't blame you.. but you should have told me.." she replied.
"I wanted to!! I searched for you everywhere!! I called up in your office but they told me that you resigned!! I have been searching for you the past 6 months!!" he exclaimed.
"How did you find me here then?" she asked curiously looking at his eyes.
"Well, I am kind of famous' you know! Ek na ek din toh mil hi jaati tum! But you made it so difficult for me! You are so mysterious after all." he teased.
"Yeah right! You must have seen the ads of my fashion line? Didn't you?" she retorted.
"Whhhaaat.. Pich..No.." he hesitates biting his lips. Finally he accepted it with a nod.
"Yaar, let's not waste anymore time! Wait.. I brought something for you!" he takes out a ring from his coat and takes her hand.
"So, Miss-" he started as he bends again but Roshni pulls him back and says,
"YES!"
He puts the ring on her finger and kisses her hand. He pulls her closer to him by her waist and leans forward as he said,
"Let's seal it with a kiss, to-be-Mrs.Khurana"
"Roshni beta?" someone called. Roshni immediately leaves his hold and turns to look at her mother.
"Mom!" Siddharth also settles his hair and coat as he wanted to impress his future Sasumom.
"Who is this? Anyway 10 minutes are left for the fashion show to start and the designer is not there with them!!" she said.
"Mom... this is.. this is Siddharth.. Siddharth Khurana.. I told you about him.." she introduced.
"Hello, to-be-Sasumom! Main aapka hone wala Jamai!" he grinned as he extended his hands to shake. Roshni hits him with her elbow and glares at him. DD Patel keeps gawking at him ignoring his hands. He looks at the mother-daughter duo,
"Oh god, bacha lena aap mujhe inn dono maa-beti se, aise dekh rahi hai jaise kacha chawa jaengi!" he faked a smile to his Sasumom.(Oh God please help me, this mother and daughter are staring at me like I am a piece of meat)
This is the end of my story.. 😃 You must be thinking what happened that day.. but it's going to remain a mystery.. but yes something major happened that day that he had to leave 😆 I hope you guys liked the story's ending and I did not disappoint anyone.. if I did then I apologize!! 😭
[Note: If you are confused with how DD came in the picture then Roshni did listen to Siddharth and called up her mom after their 3rd meeting. Her mother accepted her instantly as they were already apart for 4-5 years then!! After all she loves Roshni !!]
