Rhea,
There is no trace of ASR there at all...for me the intolerability coefficient, which has been high previously, is a little less here...
Rome is certainly not built in a day... I have always thought there are at least half a dozen core people who gave their heart and soul to create asr.. ofcourse the final onus to perceive and perform was on barun.. and he did to perfection...the difference between asr and other characters is that.. others were pretty much the same in all the 398.. they can continue to be the same ...whereas this character had to display shedding of layers...
Tough... both for the director and the actor...
Payash track was magnificent becos he was mellow to the right extent...
- He came back to apologize to Payal, but not to Khushi just yet.. he retained that margin of error..
- The day of Shyam's first ouster he put Khushi to bed and was left to himself pained for his di.. he didn't cry in Khushi's lap.. that pool side and on the steps was THE most breathtaking performance from barun for me.. very measured melancholy...
- Even when he apologized to her holding her feet later he would come back and fight/ insist with her how easy it is for her to leave
His personality/ his aura very much intact...
How would a much mellowed asr be after 3 years of their marriage seems to be left to the interpretation of the actor, a job done by a group of much interested professional creatives earlier on. He apparently didn't dwell muchoin it.. the sapping performance to our eyes.. disappointing but not unexpected for me..
And, if asr can not give a shout to HP for coffee, dreamily recites poetry, wears pink shades for a full 2 min (as ami puts it), sprints like a bunny at every door bell ring, it doesn't really matter to me if barun is giving his 100% or not.
He used to command respect not fear from his family.. just being what/ who he was... mami, akash ...that is lost .. tragically..
One has to be in the groove, focused to perform well. At the time of Mai aur Mr Right, he was a walking, talking, sleeping asr..he was playing asr for 12 hrs every day for the past one year...every move very measured.. there was no way he could have faltered even with an inane script...
At times I wonder at how we used to be able to gorge an entire bulky text book in an hour on the morning of an exam.. impossible to do at any other time in the year.. such used to be the focus for the exams... the state of acting he was in during IPK/ MMR.. as I see it..
The ineptitude with which these episodes are planned and executed and the fact that he was never too keen with the clout of asr...he seem neither interested nor challenged by this right now.
I hope given a proper project he will deliver..
On completely diff note, his beard look is growing on me..
