Yes , the song and all, this is where NIsar comes with his brilliant elemental positioning and all.He is blessed with that.

Reagrdless with tacky outfits , he was shining as an Armor who is ready to cut through norms and he did.Simply magnificent...There are a lot .I will pen down slowly...That is why I don't sit for it...I can't sleep then...😆

I know ,what are you saying about that second pearls but I see it at different angle .Yes the way it has been shot could be a serial material but the way he hugs her...no way. That is mt most fav of all...for many many reasons...

ah that hug... fascinating. how much love and giving and accepting of someone as they are and hope of making things right, all of it is there... he has brought her back. what a moment.

i want to see that wooing he will do... that making her know she is never second to anyone in his life. he will make an orphan feel secure and make her grab her haq... he knows her fragility. he knows her strength. remember what he said? "apne jeevan ka hissa banaaoonga..."

i was waiting to see all of that.

then came dadi.

and everything became another story. i don't like to think too much about that whole thing... because it hurts. and no point crying over what can't be changed. but what a spectacular story got sidelined. its most positive expression that hug, its most not pretty expression, that fight the night before. both are about a love that has scaled and reached a space serials never go to. even good literature sometimes doesn't get it.

faiqa, some day, we will see what happened after that hug happened... minus dadi.

i think he would have taken her to eat ice cream after that. they'd have talked about what's really bothering her. all about that awful fight when he said if you hadn't come all would have been well, shyam would not do this harkat...

he'd have apologised again... she would have been able to be herself and show her gussa.

that contract issue would have been resolved... even with the family. and... there would be a lovely ceremony to bless their coming together. or maybe even a whole private wedding ceremony organised by him for her...

so many moments get conjured up in me...

a wedding night in sheeshmahal, where he had ripped her dori... and walking through the demons of the past... laying them to rest. what was the real story we lost? aaah never mind.

Did he feel that may be all it takes is a pair of innocent eyes and soft trembling lips for one to lose control? Did he think that may be that weakness of his father's to resist such temptations is present in him also? Haila, too many questions!😆

yeah, there was a feeling of of his father being a womanizer and then getting into a fatal relationship. yeah, maybe she was that pretty and helpless looking sort... his father fell and lost control. not losing control is an issue.. that is why kissi ladki se koi faraq nahin padta... i guess. very interesting what you say about fearing he may be like his dad. i get that sense when i look at his gussa... and his denial there's anything of his father in him.

you could be right... he does not want to be "galat" as he says in the rain "main galat nahin hoon". again, is this vis a vis his dad who s clearly galat?

someone once told me that dasharath was given to enjoying earthly pleasures and he was besotted with kayikeyi... he needed to make love to her, he couldn't do without it... and there was a lack of judgment, acting with objectivity and wisdom when it came to her. ram was wary of this trait in his father, its hold over him and his sense of right and wrong. he did not wish to be like his father. i just heard mouth open, no idea about all this, my knowledge of ramayan what you grow up with and nothing beyond.

these are elemental, archetype relationships i guess... that father son thing.

You can see all these demons right in front of those RED

THE MOMENT HE SAID TUMHAIN PAA KEH RAHOONGA AND SHE SAID NAHIN AAOONGI ...AND I WAS JUMPING WITH JOY ...YES IPK IS BACK

He comes to take her and that moment...making her realize the blunder he has made...they made..and now they have to make it SAHI...and I was YES...we will have this private ceremony and may be after that story will go back to Lukhnow and the past will reveal and may some how the story which we had lost ..in between YES will back...nop...

WE GOT DAADI and KAHANI finished

moments of love and hate went under the game of nuisance
water fell on Dadi but felt like spilling over among nonsense
Khushi's brain became a Sheesh mahal of many hindrance
Arnav, a character who alone was fighting for his existence

i was just thinking of those lines in pink... that was the song of that love... what a sublime moment, a journey to their feelings, their complete need and love.

how could they ruin it all...

nice poem... sad.

Indi di, that above, I've never heard. Like you say, my knowledge is also the basic kind, the whys and wherefores not gone into. There are times when I feel I know nothing about our own culture. I've felt that sometimes our ease with this language may be keeps us away from reading things that we should read. Very often what we read is from a very western perspective.
So what you see in stories is what has been explored before too, right from the mythological tales.

kizh,

we have so many versions of the ramayan and now the new takes. in many languages. r k narayan's ramayan, i have only read a few chapters, is beautifully written and in english that he made his own... i do often wish i had the patience to read the lovely books in bengali my mother often read, a wealth of thought and feelings there, but really as for mythology, for me still the most preferred route is listening... to be told a story. that's how i like it getting to me and becoming part of me.

it's true though, there's so much to read and enjoy in bengali and hindi and i bet all our languages. as we stop reading them that literature will suffer and maybe over time disappear. life is this endlessly changing stream i guess.

ripping a part of her garment, so damn out of control. but was it out of character?

my thought: he was in an intensely vulnerable state of mind actually the first time we met him. he was coming back to lucknow to take back what was his. but in the way of the jungle, where might is right. for he had been given no choice. his right as son was taken away by a feckless father. his right to his home, usurped by an opportunist uncle. 12 years of suffering the consequences and doing all to overcome them. turning into a man behind a thick impenetrable wall. being courageous, himmat dikhai maine, and becoming an adult practically overnight shouldering all responsibilities of sister, home, later grandmother and family. yet, inside there was always that boy with a scream truncated. today he'd heard it standing right before where it had left his being the first time, that terrible day.

he comes and buys the place. controlled, cool, focusing on revenge. nothing else.

and all that vulnerability sits inside, no release for it.
his sister speaks of his being tied to the past and the effect it has on him. on cue he says of course it doesn't bother him, this was a business decision.

at the fashion show, we see him closing his eyes, as though fatigued deeply. possibly he is. imagine the pent up feelings of sheesh mahal. and the churning of it all this day. it's an important event for him, yet he is cutting out of it.

then she arrives and falls into his arms. a jerk back to the present. those lips so close. who is this? what is happening. his show is ruined. anger steps in, possibly the only response in this situation. and his familiar defence.

the whole thing of who sent you here gets going. all the happenings of the day still buried deep.

then their interaction, her mention of jiji's wedding, it will break, his scathing insult: let it, girls like you, what difference does it make, one goes, you'll find the next. and her hurt upset retort: kya bakwaas kar rahen hai aap? aap kuch bhi bole jaa rahen hain, and who are you, after me for so long, what if someone spoke like this of your family, what if it were your sister, what if people spoke of her like this... boliye! hai koi jawab?"

at the mention of his sister, whose wedding had fallen apart, on the same day his mother had killed herself, all memories rushing back, end of day, he's tired, angry, dimaag not in full operation, he's beginning to come apart, but he stands there just staring, fire growing in eyes.

she says: badtamizi bhi ki bhi had hoti hai, hat jaiye hamare raastey se. humey jaaney dijiye.

and she begins to walk away.

think he snapped at that "badtameezi."

it happened once much later too. he'd walked right away from his father and his "galat" position in life, refusing to be tainted by it in the slightest. being "sahi" is paramount. he possibly had a fear that there may be something of his dad in him asserted by genes and he struggled to free himself. badtameez was not what he wanted to be associated with. ever. especially in relation to women.

yet, such is character, he had that anger, a trait reminiscent of his father if we take naniji's words into account. his nostrils had just flared a bit. he was at the edge. all the feelings of the whole day. not letting emotion get the better of him. now this.

with that peremptory get out of my way as she walks away, he loses it, pulls her back: badtamizi toh maine abhi shure bhi nahin ki hai.

all control so strictly imposed, lost.
and he transgresses. with another snapping.

tumhe jawab chahiye na? ye loh.

after that, he stood. staring with unseeing eyes. when she loosened her hair and covered her exposed back, looked for a second as though something registered. and he just stood, lost in a world that no one was given access to. she walked away. this time he didn't resist.

he certainly was not himself at the moment. now the more i see it the more i sense this. all the anguish of sheesh mahal. his mother's death, betrayal, suicide, hell, all the pain was in his mind today. she became unfortunately the one that got him to touch it all today, with that question about his sister.

i don't know if what i say is valid. these are just interpretations.

Loved the ponder indi di. I too feel it was a vulnerable evening for him. Emotions held in check as everything inside him focused on revenge. His vendetta complete he had nothing to channel all the bitterness, all that anguish towards. When he sat with his eyes closed perhaps part of him questioned why even now the agony inside did not dull.

All those feelings were imploding within and then fell a girl into his arms. Undeniable for sure is how his gaze was arrested by those lips. All through out he attempted to remain detached, but like you said that mention of batamizi and mention of his sister caused him to snap. When she opened her hair, for a instant, I think Barun added a realization of the galat he had done. Maybe a realization of how strong a reaction she seemed to be getting out of him. The eyes remained dark and we continued to unravel its mysteries.

the anger was in character. the intensity of his feelings. the loss of control. Everything defined Arnav Singh Raizada beautifully. The foundation laid strong in a mere 3 episodes. Everything to follow would only feel more wonderful because of this. The slow melting of the heart as it succumbed to the bearer of those pink lips, the gutsy girl who would take away his sukoon only to bring him exactly that. thoroughly enjoyed your musing on cause and effect.

He dropped his gaze to her lips and that made her self conscious and she wanted him to let her go and put her down at once! What the! That really irked him. Though he was more enraged with himself than her. What the was he doing holding on to a stranger in his arms, cushioning her fall, saving her from crashing down from the ramp and hurting herself!
A girl who no doubt had been sent by his rivals, his enemies in Lucknow hell bent on destroying the sweet victory of his acquisition of Sheeshmahal, a goal no doubt he had set for himself the day he had been turned out of the house by his uncle so many years ago.
So he set her down with a sudden rude jerk and pushed her away from him roughly, as far away as he could.
In the process she lost the dupatta, her symbolic haya, izzat reflected in her teary eyes. But even as a confused, terrified Khushi was being dragged away by Arnav's musclemen she had the presence of mind to retrieve her dupatta, her self respect in a scary place away from home. Above all she had a mission to accomplish, to find out if the man her Jiji was marrying was the dowry taking type, and to convince him maybe with her Khushi type speech that dowry was a social evil! (I can well imagine Khushi delivering that speech!) And being locked away was preventing her from doing the needful on time. Hayye Devi Maiyya!
Arnav was angry with her for spoiling his show no doubt. But his fury bordered on paranoia...the fear maybe of losing everything to a woman again. No doubt she reminded him of the woman who was responsible for the break up of his parents marriage, the death of his unfaithful father and the loss of his beloved mother and with her his sukoon, his peace of mind...
The other woman he saw reflected in Khushi was no doubt of loose character, low aukat, a gold digger, who had roped in his father because of his riches( not that he blamed his father any less for he had dropped his father's surname and taken his mothers maiden one). Khushi's reference to her sisters marriage no doubt brought to his mind the painful memory of his Di's broken marriage. Khushi actually unknowingly had touched a raw nerve and he lost his control.
But the snap of her dori was also a rap on his tough exterior, the wall he had built around him.
In their first meeting when he had held her in his arms and gazed into her eyes and felt like tasting her lips, he was a goner! The dose of his long lost sukoon had just arrived! Just like the homeopathic medicine that enhances an ailment first before curing it this ajeeb pyaar would unfold in a similar manner...Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon?

Aah R always good to read your thoughts.. Interesting that you thought she reminded him of that dusri aurat.. I hadn't thought of it that way. Possibly you are right, which is why he was ready with all the aukat talk.

loved that last paragraph.

My heart just bursts into a riot of dhak dhaks whenever I think of those first few seconds of their meeting. he was a goner surely. And she too. Why else would her hand seek out to him subconsciously?

I just wrote to indi di how his sukoon was lost over that girl jisse koi farak nai parta. Only to finally find the sukoon he longed for and never thought possible all thanks to the very same girl. And you wrote of how his sukoon had arrived too.. haha.. can anything get better than this ajeeb love story R?

thank, rhea...

i like what you say about these three episodes establishing a whole character, i would say the first four, that whole talk of dard is in four... and how that made whatever came later seem even more wonderful.

it did.

just chatting but i have a major issue with a very easy one line take on this story.

man was dark and trapped and girl came and released him.

somehow though that is what was sort of shown, i always felt there was a two way thing here... he gave her certain things too, which, this being indian tv and achhi ladki being saviour were never quite pondered, yet, in the way they were with each other it showed... at the end, there was that lame one from khushi, something about because of him she has learned to leave fully or whatever. very thick, obvious ekta pattern dialogue.

i so wish we had khushi taking it farther from, why am i thinking of that rakshas... gadbad... to finally talking about her feelings for him, how he makes her feel... pondering haq hai tumhara, wondering about her dhakdhak, saying she needs him... badly... life would mean nothing without him... he is hers... only hers...

something.

that sense of being a woman, being free he sort of touches in her, was beautiful. for a love story to be really powerful, especially a classic romance, i think it needs both to need the other and get something unique thanks to this love, otherwise it just feels a tad shallow.

if she is the key... he is the lock... it's a unique relationship and only they are meant for each other.

if she is pearl, he is string. if he is pearl, she the string maker.

if khushi elementally absolutely non-negotiably does not need asr, then where is the asr khsuhi i think of. and if she needs him like that, he must be giving her something, yes?

the story teller may because of trp and other concerns, not think about that too much, since we girls apparently love to save... but i really would like to. what did asr give khushi? really, why did she fall for him? just because he had aheart and loved his di? oh really?

i may have problems with the saviour naari archetype. it is lopsided and unreal to me. and never quite allows for an equal relationship.

love to hear your thoughts.

Oh you are right Indi di.. isn't episode 4 the confrontation in the dargah.. I just take dargah as three so the mistakiya.. if there was a god out there there would be no dard,, brilliant..

In two I think I was still focussing on the man and what he would get from the girl. that is why my comment about the sukoon.

but I wholeheartedly believe in a certain selfishness in love. If we were only to give and not get anything in return why would we want it? So, yes agree totally with all your words. She needed him. Her hands caught his collar, her head always turned. More than that he made her feel alive, a woman, cherished, free.

In three it was what the man would bring to Khushi.. She chose to run after him, she chose to safeguard his mannat ki chabhi. An orphan compelled to be her cheery best, making people happy. With this man she was just herself. Yelled a little, made mistakes too. No pretention, no need to follow convention. In fact with him she reached out to all that she could be. Every time he challenged her she found a fire within. And all those moments only made him respect her more. He wasn't simply her savior. No, she was the coolest person he knew, he genuinely wanted her to be herself. Even in his fights he wanted her to speak her mind, exercise her right..over him.. And of course he made her feel all woman..

She might have had a happy life, but as soon as she decided to run after him, she ensured she would have an extraordinary life. An explosive unpredictable handsome infuriating man was hers. And he was also going to be the most tender and caring and loving.

I hated the indifference she seemed to have towards him after the remarriage. The more he admitted to how essential her love was for him, the more smug she became and unaffected by all that love. Instead of sensibly reveling in it.
