Also, when we combine topics it should be considered that some threads have a different demographic such as more adults than some with teenagers. Those discussions will not have everyone's POV in them. Shouldn't different genre's have the chance to have their own discussions?

We combine topics that have the same thing in them. So if one person posts a link to a poll and then a few hours later if another person posts the same poll link we combine the topics. Really these things can be discussed in one thread.

Please note: I'm not suggesting we close them.

FF forum's spamming rules and the remaining forums' spamming rules are different. In this forum, the spamming rules do not apply to birthday threads as it is a nice way to say thank you and celebrate a member's birthday.

I have a question regarding the Barun Sobti Movie Thread. I visited that topic and was hugely surprised seeing the rules placed.

1. Why aren't solo ASR pictures allowed? Is ASR not Barun? There are sooo many edits being made on ASR still, and fans find it exciting to post to their friends. Why is it so wrong to bring in ASR? This is the IPKKND forum after all!

2. And why do you want to close that thread down once Barun's movies release? IPK forum is the most visited forum for any Sobtian, I presume, and it's unfair to snatch that away from us.
It's highly disappointing, since I have seen other forums still having threads for their actors who have forayed into Bollywood.

Thank you TM for bringing this idea of a chat with DTs. :) xx

  1. The thread is for Barun's movies, not ASR. That is why we do not allow these pics. You can post these pics elsewhere just not in that thread.
  2. We suggested that we might close the thread down if the discussion of a Barun movie that has already released continues in that thread. For movies that release, discussions should be held in the Bollywood forum as that's where all movies are discussed. That thread will remain open if there are other future movies of Barun releasing and for discussion on those and those only.

I have been part of this forum for more than two years...my question is regarding fanfictions...
in other forums (most of the forum) fanfictions are posted in the main forum only...
DT created new rule in October/September (not sure of the month) 2011 that Arhi Fan Fictions which had crossed fifteen pages will be moved to FF forum to reduce traffic in the IPKKND forum...
if FF's are moved only to reduce the traffic...then why are you still following that rule???
I mean it has been a year since ipkknd ended and activity of the forum has decreased considerably!
I am just curious about this rule...nothing else...

We do this mainly to assist new forum visitors so that they can find other threads as well. If you notice many threads here are FFs or OSs or SSs. And IPKKND still gets new members who often get lost in the FF threads.

Why are you trying to organize by minimizing? Its very confusing. No one seems to know where to go. Also, how quick is the DT turnaround on PM requests. By the time, we get news of new pictures or what not, many other forums have already posted and discussed.

Again, we as a forum have seen combining of topics in the name of organization in the past. But the members that are in those discussions are of often of different age groups and mind sets. It only instigates fights or disagreements. Why are you creating angst in the forum?

Why can't we continue to have the threads in IPKKND? For me, I have bookmarked on Watch Topics. However, on my kindle I can't open the watch topics, and so, I save it as my favorites. When we move topics from forum, it can no longer find the topics.

As I stated we can always update the title when a new pic is posted. We request the poster to simply PM us with the page number when they post a new pic and we'll update it. And we'll also add an index to the first post.

If you can find at least 10 or 15 members who are willing to play another game we can discuss opening a second game.

We haven't exactly restricted everyone. We are just attempting to make the forum more organized.

For whatever reason, this new rule of one game per week came about. But now, its left a lot of people very bitter. Can we not close other games and keep your GOTW also?

PS: It is to be noted that my exposure to an individual member or DT is very less and I am only talking about general experience I am having in the past and now. I see no particular reason to be upset of current IPK or FF DTs but there seems to have been some changes going on behind the scenes which are driving the stuff happening lately.
My 3 general concerns are written below and these are for no specific show's DTs and hope these can be forwarded by IPK DTs and addressed by applicable designations.

I see a response to most of the questions in this topic but most importantly, the overall experience a member is getting when visiting the forum now-a-days is not looking very encouraging to stay on the forum. I thought online portals such as indiaforums have to make life easier for people to get attracted to join their portals. Is it not the motto for indiaforums?

I have also seen to myself such crazy times within IPK forum where sections of people were incessantly targeting each other for their own reasons and DTs have done a nice job to a great extent possible. Now such posts or topics have subsided quite a bit and forum activity too has lessened a lot.

Similarly, I have read about a part of writers who are either biased or demand their readers to gain pages and threads. This was not seen personally by me in recent times and only a few authors left who are still passionate about ArShi and are writing only due to the motivation of their readers.

In essence, the problems which were once major problems are not really existing around IPK or ArShi fiction currently. So I'm quite surprised to see so many rules coming on the way in multiple ways which are also being rigidly followed where they should be subjectively handled.

example 1: Rules around sharing pics of celebrities which were reportedly shared on public portals. When we have an easy way to share something, reading a booklet of old and new rules only kills the interest in sharing something.
example 2: Treating FF threads as spamming. I personally have never congratulated for a thread or asked for an update. A reader like me can never motivate or encourage a writer because of the nature of my interaction. Truly speaking, a writer can only gauge how much their story is wanted by people and get drawn to write more despite their busy personal lives thru congratulatory notes or next update queries. Scraps or PMs are definitely one way but that adds more overhead in member's heads to manage their accounts while posting directly on threads bring more convenience and visibility. If the forum admistrators are concerned about technical aspects of handling the data, then IF should really upgrade itself on that front rather restricting members with not-so-needed rules.
example 3: Outside IPK and FF forum, I have noticed IF designated professionals actively participating in the episode discussions and all that. This is no wrong that every one is human and is prone to have their own opinions and likes, dislikes on a show or an actor. But knowingly or unknowingly their posts and their wording reveal their inner self and will not give credibility to people that they can address issues at IF with an unbiased approach. They can certainly enjoy watching what they like but can share their thoughts using their personal IF id. Isn't it?

Forgot to thank the TM for opening this thread. Thanks @ifsaal

Your post was very well written and questioned a lot of root issues.

I wonder if they are trying to work through server space issues or if it truly is about keeping the forum and threads clean.

I agree with you about DTs using their own IDs to express their own opinions about the show. They lose credibility to make decisions.

And its true, not every rule is made for every phase of a forum's life span. Since much of the traffic is laxed now, they should reconsider the rigidness or stop making new rules at this point in time. It makes no sense to subject regular visitors from having to work through old issues.

I have just one single query...many a times, if I am including some hindi wordy phrases for quoting a response to my readers, it says, "invalid words - message not posted"

Can anyone plzz tell me what are the certain criterias which is expected while replying so that next time I dont have to face any such problems??

I am new here so thats all I have observed ..
