What is acting?
The ability to convince the viewers that what they are watching is real even though they are fully aware that it is not. (Heard this in a reality show) Isn't that so true about the actors of IPK? Barun and Sanaya delivered amazingly most of the time. The rest of the cast too performed to the best of their abilities whenever required. Not that we haven't seen stellar performances before, but on repeat views we would often lose interest.
But IPK is exceptional. Even after watching it so many times, we still haven't got over it. In fact, we feel the pain, the love, the passion, the restlessness, the anger, the confusion, the amusement, the warmth even more. Why is it that a scene still evokes such wide range discussion? Why is it that we feel that the lead couple are real and are living a happy life at some unknown place?
Yes Indi. It is really the acting. That of a powerful performer like Barun, of a versatile actress like Sanaya, a pro veteran like Jayashreeji and the very talented members of the rest of the ensemble.
My first wow moment on IPK was the Krishna Janmakatha narration by Khushi. I had seen Sanaya in an earlier show but never knew much about her. That story narration was the best that I had ever seen. And after knowing about the background of Sanaya, I was more at wonder. It was the breakdown scene that brought my attention to Barun. For someone like me who was more concerned about the story rather than performances, visual appearances or individual looks, I was bowled over by his acting. And from there, as the story got diluted, it was the acting of the leads that stood out.
hi durga,
great post... closing the distance between character and actor... many at ipk were marvelous at it.
barun of course.
and sanaya, when they weren't messing with her.
jayashree t... abha parmar... sanjay batra, and my hot fave utkarsha naik. sometimes op was just sooo cute and rahim chacha was certainly for real as was hp (he was funny in the palang tod scene).
you are right, we see repeatedly and yet we neither get bored, nor less excited, nor fail to find new things.
my father belongs to a vasihnav family... temple at home and things, i have made many little knitted thingies for my great aunts's little moortis of radha krishna when i was very young... stories of gopal all over the place, janmashtami is celebrated as a big utsav in the temple... i have never ever heard the story being told as cutely and beautifully as sanaya said it. she was lovely and i wanted to hear some more.
